And I'm straining out the deliberate or ignorant error made in this particular scripture because some, in their futile attempt, promote and convince others that Yeshua is divine as his Father. Even if theos was original, in 1Tim 3:16, it still would not make Yeshua divine, as his Son did reveal his Father of course.
the only ignorance is those who are high minded thinking they can impress some one... men like jay Vernon McGee Adrian rogers David Jeremiah . could literally make you look like a green horn/ Novice and never use big words.. one thing i have found in forums ..lots of folks sit behind the p,c pretend there billy graham or some big university professor

Hi Beebster. While it is certain that salvation goes beyond the church....since God so loved the world...and not just the church, the criteria for salvation hasn't changed to love one neighbour as oneself, to fear the Lord, remain humble, and be merciful (something that a hypocrite cannot do)

The New Covenant has ADDED a new layer of salvation....a victory over sin...into the equation by empowering those who enter into Christ to walk in resurrection power and life. That is what is left out from all human interpretations.

@Beebster

This poster has a Himalayan-sized ego. He rarely answers questions directly and instead spews out word salads. If and when he humbles himself he may be enlightened by the Holy Spirit. Until then, I wouldn't pay much credence to his personal theology.

He claims to follow Jesus but opposes followers of Christ who want to live in communities that are exclusive for Christians. He forgets, of course, that ONLY Christians will enter the Kingdom; Jesus EXPLICITLY said so.

I agree with you that all people will eventually enter the Kingdom, but only after they have declared that Jesus is Lord.

You are absolutely correct. Here is a double witness to prove you right:

That at the name of Jesus EVERY knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that EVERY tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:10-11)

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me EVERY knee shall bow, EVERY tongue shall swear. (Isa 45:22-23)

Peace.

JLB, back for more education.... God willing, his Spirit leading...

Dream on as you do not even understand the scripture you post.

And you never read my 1 Tim 3:16 commentary for understanding either. Hint, having theos instead of a pronoun for Yeshua in 1 Tim 3:16 does not change a thing. It still does not make Yeshua divine, now does it? God, Yeshua's Father was inside his Son at his anointing, and as a human son of man he revealed God to us of course, as witnessed by many. That does not make Yeshua divine, only the divine presence of the Spirit within his, his God, his Father!

And the sphere of Christendom does very much include scripture. Mark that one down as well.

2 Timothy 3:7.....

We are discussing scripture; God’s word.

Jesus Christ is LORD; YHWH, the LORD GOD who created the heavens and the earth.

But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
And: “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands
.
Hebrews 1:8-10

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.
1 Timothy 3:16

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
‘Romans 10:9-13

What is the name of the LORD (YHWH) we call on to be saved?

I believe that it requires humility in order for this information to be revealed. I believe such blessings follow humility.

Certainly:

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)

Amen. Humility is a MUST.

I've noticed that people on social media who share sound (in my opinion) doctrine have few followers while people who share unsound doctrine have large followings. I believe that the latter have something in common - large egos.

Why do believe that God is NOT capable of persuading people to obey and follow him?
I'm not saying that God cannot persuade people to obey Him. What I'm saying is that the Book of Revelation reveals that there are some people who deliberately oppose God.satan or his angle.

I don't think that those who don't believe in God don't believe in the way and truth of God.

Are all scriptures in all Bibles accurate?
In the context of the culture, yes. And to elaborate on this, my wife got me for Xmas the 2017 Bible of the Year, the NSRV Cultural Bible. It was VERY eye opening regarding the accuracy of Scripture.

Move yourself in time and space to the near East during the Bronze Age. There are idioms that were known then that aren't now and common use of hyperbole. Perhaps the biggest difference is modern man FALSELY equates fiction with not being true.

Ancient man was not concerned about a story being literally accurate. They were concerned about the truth the story contained even if it is known to be a work of fiction. Allegories like Adam and Eve and Job contain profound truth. Modern man looks for the tree of accuracy while being blind to the forest of truth. Hope this helps.

In the context of the culture, yes.

Some Bibles translate verses differently. For example Jude 7.
The KJV says "vengence of eternal fire". The YLT says "an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering".

Which translation is correct?

Jude 7
King James Version
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jude 7
Young's Literal Translation
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before -- an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering

Some Bibles translate verses differently.

Essentially synonymous

Which translation is correct?
IMO, it's the wrong question as they should more or less say the same thing but put it differently. You know that many words have more than one sense. One translation renders a word in one sense; another translation in another sense. It is a translators dilemma. The question is what translation is best aligned with the way you speak?

To me, any translation with James in the title is virtually unreadable. It's not just the words but the sentence structure. It's like reading something Yoda wrote. Right, I hope you are. Also, KJV is the most error prone translation available in English today. Having said that, the errors are a small percentage of the text. Why quibble over 99.9% versus 99.99% correct?

No matter what translation you choose, pray before each reading that the Spirit of God will open your eyes to what you need to get from the reading today. St. Augustine wrote about this in Confessions, how the word of God is alive, getting a different take with a different reading of the same text. I have found it to be true. See Hebrews 4:12.

Let me say it again, one cannot properly read Scripture if one is not reading it in truth and Spirit. If you're reading it with an eye to catch an errant word, you're reading it in the wrong Spirit. I prefer thought translations for their readability. To me, the so-called literal translations are too choppy and I get too impatient. For instance, a literal translation might be rendered:
  • Jesus came in from the rain.
  • When Jesus came in from the rain, he went down stairs.
  • After Jesus went down stairs, he took his rain coat and galoshes off.
A thought translation will render this as one sentence and reduce redundant words so it flows more aligned with the way we speak today. For instance, WHEN Jesus came in from the rain, he went downstairs to the mudroom to take off his rain gear. The translation doesn't change the doctrine and might include text for those in our culture to better understand what was going on in that culture (put in italics to separate from literal Scriptural words). Compare a mud room today to washing feet in Scriptural times. They didn't have a mud room and we don't wash feet today upon entering a home.

Let me be specific about one passage to highlight the point. The gifts of the 3 wise men: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Hold onto your something as you embrace the symbolic significance of these gifts. It's not merely that they were rare and valuable. Gold symbolizes the royalty of the child. Frankincense is a scent priests used in performance of their service. Myrrh is a strong smelling item used to cover the smell of decaying flesh. No matter the translation, recognize the 3 wise men realized the new born baby was a priestly king who would be sacrificed. Powerful stuff - no matter the translation.

I watched part of the video and I found a valid point that I agree upon. It was something that the Lord showed me years ago. The bible contains two trees. The tree of knowledge and the tree of life. If our approach is purely academic then we will only eat from the tree that increases knowledge and find only death. However, if we approach it as the living and vibrate Word itself then we can consume it as the spiritual food it was meant to be...and find life. Jesus said this to the Pharisees:

Jn 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Do we think Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees for a lack of intellectual knowledge here?

Mk 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

Think about it...the Pharisees and scribes were master scholars. They were filled with an intellectual knowledge of the bible.
What they didn't "KNOW" was an intimacy with the living Word himself that would produce the fruit God desired. Knowledge such as this:

Ge 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived...

When we truly "know" (not in the gnostic sense) the word, we shall conceive as well.

Mk 3:33-35 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
Actually many can have scriptures memorized and yet know not the scrips at all .
many scholars are proof of this .
Many learned the bible , torah and etc , But their heart was NEVER after GOD at all .
If we knew the scrips , if we knew the teachings of the prophets , We had known WHO they pointed too .
The religious leaders of that day , AND OH YEAH TODAY as well
Might sound mighty wise , might be able to even quaote things verbatum
But they have done and do as they do to have the praise of men and to be seen by men as wise men indeed .
Many scholars are living proof of this .
Any man that even dares to go around the Absolute dire need to have had to Beleived on JESUS
might be able to quoate even certain truths , BUT KNOWS NOT THE TRUTH at all .
We better all watch out . JESUS never said lest ye become as , lest ye sit under , wise scholars
ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of GOD . HE said LEST YE BECOME as children .
And we BELEIVE what is written , we do not try and twist and go around it , WE simply beleive it .
THIS many do not do . THEY always t ry and twist and fit scrips to GO around THE TRUTH
rather than simply beleiving what is written and letting THE TRUTH form and by the SPIRIT change and mold their minds .
MANY try and attain knowledge , wisdom , understanding
But do so through carnal wisdom , intellect , wise sounding men . Because many
have no heart FOR GOD at all . Sheep BELEIVE , goats twist . ALWAYS remember that .
And let us THANK GOD for HIS MERCY , HIS GRACE given us IN CHRIST JESUS
and by HIS SPIRIT we can simply have learned THE VERY TRUTH HE DID INSPIRE in that bible .
Its all about the simplicity of CHRIST JESUS . JUST trusting in ALL things HE did say and not rather
trying to do as many and say , OH that applied to the jews , or to the people of that time , or etc.
JESUS WORDS apply to us all , as does any other lovely truth HE did so inspire . ITS real simple my friend .
ITs man that complicated it . JUST BELEIVE JESUS , BELEIVE HIS WORDS , BELEIVE the letters of the apostels .
And in time ye shall gain the wisdom , the understanding BY THE SPIRIT

As humans, we seem to find a proper balance to be something that escapes us, so often, preferring a more radical and simplistic view to one that requires nuance and a deeper understanding of the matter. Is salvation inclusive or exclusive? What if it's both!

Hey E
The video looks good and I did watch some of it but too long for me...will do if time permits.

Is this too simple for ya?

How to become saved:
1. Believe in God.
2. Obey Him.

Universalism states that EVERYONE is going to heaven.
This cannot be right.

Exclusivism attempts to determine exactly WHO is going to heaven.

Both are wrong....which I THINK is what you're saying.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead
Who raised Jesus from the dead?

This verse destroys the Greek influence of imposing on the text the Phoenix, rising on its own accord from the ashes.
