No, it does not. It discredits that single instance, not the whole.

A series of equations in a mathbook:

1+1=2​

2+2=5​

3+3=6​

4+4=8​

5+5=10​

The one error, does not discredit the whole book. Demonstrating the error of the one, does not show that the remaining 4 equations to be in error, or discredit. You are committing the fallacy of throwing out the baby with the bathwater, and demonstrate the psychology of 'denial'.

You see reliability in your example math book because you already understand the equations. Discredit is widely regarded as providing reason to be distrusted. You are not trusting the math book - this is not a math book you would trust. You already have full confidence in yourself of the answers it teaches. The example seems to be well-intentioned, but it does not give justice to the concept of discrediting, perhaps unless for people who do not yet understand basic addition. For they who are learning basic addition from the math book, the error in the math book is reason to not trust the other basic additions it teaches. They don't have the assurance you already possess in basic addition.

If the equations had been of a complexity above your understanding, you would have reason to doubt the legitimacy of the entire math book after becoming aware of a single error. You would be naive to not question the legitimacy of math book. The single error itself has established the math book is not to be trusted, as it has established it will lead you astray from proper math. The single error has damaged the reputation of the math book.
