i explained in my last post, the 1O commandments stands! some of the rest of the laws of Moses might as well but not some parts of it, I suggest you to through them yourself and identify the ones we gentiles can keep, you will soon see many we cannot keep. I have not compiled a list but this i will do eventually but i can give you a summary I made for this study.

Here is a clear and simple way to understand it. Not everything in the Law of Moses was meant to be practiced by Gentiles, but some parts clearly still apply, because Jesus Himself taught and confirmed them.

Here are some categories with only partial examples this is NOT a complete list

1. The ten commandments, also called the Moral law(these apply to everyone)

These laws show right and wrong. Jesus taught these directly and often made them deeper by speaking about the heart.

Examples:
  • Do not murder
  • Do not commit adultery
  • Do not steal
  • Do not lie
  • Do not covet
  • Honor father and mother
  • Love God
  • Love your neighbor
Jesus repeats and strengthens these:

  • “Thou shalt not kill… thou shalt not commit adultery” (Matthew 5, ASV)
  • “All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them” (Matthew 7:12, ASV)
These come mainly from the Ten Commandments and are clearly for all people, Jew and Gentile.

2. Laws about love, mercy, and justice (these apply to everyone)

These laws explain how love looks in daily life.

Examples:

  • Care for the poor and weak
  • Be fair and honest
  • Do not oppress others
  • Show mercy
  • Help your neighbor
Jesus taught this constantly:

  • “Blessed are the merciful” (Matthew 5:7, ASV)
  • “Go ye and learn what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice” (Matthew 9:13, ASV)
These laws show God’s character, not Israel’s nationality.

3. Laws that define sin (these still matter)

Many laws exist to identify sin, even if the punishment system is no longer applied the same way.

Examples:

  • Sexual immorality
  • Idolatry
  • Violence
  • Dishonesty
  • Injustice
Jesus confirms these:
  • “Out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness” (Matthew 15:19, ASV)
If something is still called sin by Jesus, it still matters!!

4. Civil and national laws of Israel (not required for Gentiles)

These laws governed Israel as a nation, with judges, land, and penalties.

Examples:

  • How courts should sentence criminals
  • Land inheritance rules
  • Penalties like stoning
  • Laws tied to Israel’s kings and borders
Gentiles were never part of Israel’s government, so these do not apply today.

5. Temple, sacrifice, and priesthood laws (not practiced today)

These laws were tied to:

  • The temple
  • Animal sacrifices
  • Levitical priests
Examples:

  • Burnt offerings
  • Sin offerings
  • Temple rituals
  • Priest-only duties
Jesus fulfilled these by His life and sacrifice, and the temple no longer stands. Even Jews cannot practice these today.

6. Food, clothing, and ritual identity laws (not required for Gentiles)

These laws marked Israel as a separate nation.

Examples:

  • Circumcision
  • Clean and unclean foods
  • Mixed fabrics
  • Ritual washings
Jesus makes clear these do not define righteousness:
  • “Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man” (Matthew 15:11, ASV)

Simple summary

A Gentile today can and should keep:

  • Moral laws
  • Love and mercy laws
  • Laws that define sin
  • Everything Jesus taught and confirmed
A Gentile is not required to keep:

  • Israel’s national laws
  • Temple and sacrifice laws
  • Ritual identity laws
In simple words:
Gentiles are not called to become Israelites.
They are called to become obedient followers of Jesus.

And Jesus never taught a faith that ignores obedience.
[Deuteronomy 4:13 KJV] "And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, [even] ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone."
This verse is saying the ten commandments are the covenant God made with Israel. Gentiles are strangers from the covenants they arent for us.....................[Ephesians 2:12 KJV] "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:".................the covenants and ten commandments are for Israel.................[Romans 9:4 KJV] "Who are Israelites; to whom [pertaineth] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;"................If you think you have to obey the ten commandments for righteousness you are making yourself Israel

your logic is flawed, yes the ten commandments are the covenant, Jesus was teaching all of the ten commandments = the Covenant and told us to keep them from the heart, all of them Paul also kept the ten commandments that are the covenant. the difference is that is is no longer the strict letter of the law but now the ten commandments also called the Covenant by God we follow them from the heart. as in prophecy from Jeremiah 31:31-34 . the 12 were teaching all Jesus did and said to the gentiles that included the ten commandments!

[Matthew 5:19 KJV] "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."..............so you are saying we dont have to apply this to ourselves after all.

What I see is that you say we are to follow Jesus according to the flesh, his earthly ministry, but not everything he says applies to us. Now you do realize that is what I have been asserting all along. I have said there is a difference between Israel and the church (the body of Christ). I say that what Jesus says applies to me if Paul reflects the same things in his epistles. As an example Christ commands..................[John 15:12 KJV] "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." ..................Paul commands us as well................. [Romans 13:8 KJV] "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.".................. I say by following Paul we follow Christ as Paul says.............[1 Corinthians 11:1 KJV] "Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ."
[Ephesians 5:1 KJV] "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;". Are you saying Gentiles don't have to keep the law but Israel still does? They couldn't, the law was intended to show us our sin............[Romans 7:7 KJV] "What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."
[Romans 3:20 KJV] "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin."
You say we don't have to sell all and we don't have to keep all the law and I say we dont have to do anything that Jesus commanded only Israel to obey. We have our doctrine and commands from Jesus written down by Paul.
You are mixing identity with obedience, and Jesus never did that.

I did not say Jesus’ words only applied to Israel and not to Gentiles. I said Gentiles are not required to become Israelites, but they are required to obey Jesus.

Jesus Himself settled this.

In Matthew 5:19, Jesus does not speak to “Israel only.” He speaks about anyone who breaks God’s commandments and teaches others to do so. He gives no ethnic limit. He does not say, “This is only for Jews.” He says whoever.

Jesus also says in Matthew 7:24–27 that everyone who hears His words and does them is wise, and everyone who hears them and does not do them will fall. Again, no Israel-versus-Gentile split. Obedience is the line.

In John 15:12, Jesus commands love, yes. But that command does not cancel the others. Jesus never said, “Only keep this one command and ignore the rest.” In fact, He said the opposite.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). Not Paul’s reflection of them. His.

You say the law was only meant to show sin. Jesus never taught that. Jesus said the commandments show how to live and who enters life.
In Matthew 19:17, when asked about eternal life, Jesus said, “If you would enter into life, keep the commandments.” He did not redirect the man to someone else’s writings. He answered directly.

You ask whether Israel must keep the law but Gentiles do not. Jesus already answered that too.
In Matthew 28:19–20, He commanded His disciples to teach the nations to obey everything He commanded them. Not a reduced set. Not a different gospel. The same teachings.

The law was never given to justify people. Even the Old Testament says that. But it was always the standard of sin and obedience. Jesus did not remove that standard. He fulfilled it and taught it correctly, restoring its true meaning from the heart.

The real issue here is this:
You are saying Jesus’ words only apply to you if someone else later repeats them.
Jesus says His words will judge us on the last day (John 12:48).

Gentiles do not become Israelites.
Gentiles become disciples.
And disciples obey Jesus Himself, not a filtered version of Him.

That is not “following Jesus according to the flesh.”
That is simply taking Him at His word.

You are now not teaching the 10 commandments as preached by Christ in his earthly ministry but Paul. Paul relays all the 10 except keeping the sabbath which we dont keep. They are all fulfilled by love which causes no harm to others

This is hard to follow. How could a Gentile become an Israelite. They could be a proselyte. Only Israel were to follow Jesus and Jesus taught to keep the law so then they would have to keep the law. In Acts 15 however they determined the saved Gentiles didnt have to keep the law.

I dont know of scripture that says he did. He went to the Jews on the sabbath to preach Christ. He did make a vow. In Acts 25:8 Paul said he wasnt against the law which included the sabbath but he doesnt say he kept the sabbath

I agree Gentiles dont have to keep all the law as I said. There is a consideration I think we need to separate Gentiles in Acts 10 from Gentiles in the millennial kingdom.

Lets establish first the Gentiles only were commanded these................[Acts 15:29 KJV] "That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well."

All I could find about Gentiles in the kingdom is in regard to temple worship.

5. Temple, sacrifice, and priesthood laws (not practiced today)

The temple will be present in the millennial kingdom and sacrifices will resume (Ezekiel 40-48)
Gentiles will keep the sabbath and worship in the temple...................[Isaiah 66:23 KJV] "And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
[Isaiah 56:6 KJV] "Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;"
[Isaiah 56:7 KJV] "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices [shall be] accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people."

Gentiles will keep the feast of tabernacles....................[Zechariah 14:16 KJV] "And it shall come to pass, [that] every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles."

Gentiles will worship and be lead by believing Israel....................[Zechariah 8:22 KJV] "Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD."
[Zechariah 8:23 KJV] "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days [it shall come to pass], that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard [that] God [is] with you."

God is saying that the ten commandments are based upon/according to the covenant. The covenant isnt just the ten commandments
@GRACE ambassador , Doug,

God clearly tells us what His covenant is, in His own words.

Exodus 34:27–28 (ASV)
“And Jehovah said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Here God does not separate the covenant from the Ten Commandments. He explains them. The covenant words were written on stone tablets, and those words are named plainly: the Ten Commandments.

God repeats this even more clearly later, so no one can change the meaning.

Deuteronomy 4:13 (ASV)
And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.”

God does not say the commandments came from the covenant. He says the covenant is the Ten Commandments.

Moses repeats the same truth again.

Deuteronomy 9:9 (ASV)
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water.”

The stone tablets themselves are called the tables of the covenant.

Now Scripture shows where this covenant was placed.

Exodus 25:16 (ASV)
“And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.”

What is this testimony?

Exodus 31:18 (ASV)
“And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.”

The testimony is not a book of laws, traditions, or rituals. It is the stone tablets written by God’s own finger.

When Moses remakes the tablets, God confirms again what they are and where they belong.

Deuteronomy 10:1–5 (ASV)
“At that time Jehovah said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.
And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which Jehovah spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and Jehovah gave them unto me.
And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as Jehovah commanded me.”

The Ark of the Covenant contains the Ten Commandments. That is why it is called the Ark of the Covenant. Nothing else is called the covenant itself.

Now we move forward to the future, to heaven.

Revelation 11:19 (ASV)
“And there was opened the temple of God that is in heaven; and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant; and there followed lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail.”

John sees the Ark of the Covenant in heaven. The ark still exists. Its meaning has not changed. The covenant God placed inside it still matters.

This agrees perfectly with the words of Jesus.

Matthew 5:17–18 (ASV)
“Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.”

In Revelation, heaven has not passed away. The ark is still there. The covenant has not vanished.

Finally, Scripture shows who God’s faithful people are at the end.

Revelation 12:17 (ASV)
“And the dragon waxed wroth with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, that keep the commandments of God, and hold the testimony of Jesus.”

Revelation 14:12 (ASV)
“Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

From Sinai, to the ark, to heaven, to the last days, Scripture says the same thing without changing its words.

God declared His covenant.
That covenant is the Ten Commandments.
They were written by His finger.
They were placed inside the Ark of the Covenant.
That ark is seen again in heaven.
And God’s people at the end are still described as keeping those commandments.

This is not interpretation.
This is what GOD says.
