This is an interesting question for modern times. We have many examples of nations or tribes or peoples who defied God and decended into the worshop if false gods and idols and how God punished them.

Such as S & G and the Egyptians pre Exodus and the 10 plagues. We have examples of Isreal itself when they worshiped the Golden calf. Gos judgement and punishment fell on them severely.

I assume this punishment came in the form of natural disasters. Perhaps they had cultivated such disasters upon themselves with the way they were living.

But this was said to be Gods judgement for worshipping false gods and idols. The Canaanites is another example of how they decended into evil idol worship such as child sacrifice. Gods judgement was severe and all encompassing.

This begs the question if this can still happen today. As more people reject God and turn to pagan gods and idols or ideologies that allow sin and evil. Will there come a time when it becomes so great and people are so defiant. That Gods judgement will come in some way.

Such as a massive natural disater. Or a self inflicted disaster or chaos that will cause great trouble and people will know its from God.

In other words the people of the world have rejected the Lord and so the Lord is going to let them have satan and in the end they will all be spending eternity with satan being tormented in the eternal fires of hell for all eternity
