Ezekiel Chapter 26 is rich in prophecy and spiritual language. I wonder who can understand it?

A start is "Tyre", or "Tyrus", or "Tarshish." In Chapter 28 King Tyrus is referred to as: "O covering cherub" where God said of him, "I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you"--as if speaking directly of, and to, Satan.

Oh, but there is so much more to discover! What else do you see, can you see?

Ezekiel 26

The word of the Lord came again to me, saying, 2 “Now, son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyre, 3 and say to Tyre, ‘You who are situated at the entrance of the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coastlands, thus says the Lord God:

“O Tyre, you have said,
‘I am perfect in beauty.’
4 Your borders are in the midst of the seas.
Your builders have perfected your beauty.
5 They made all your planks of fir trees from Senir;
They took a cedar from Lebanon to make you a mast.
6 Of oaks from Bashan they made your oars;
The company of Ashurites have inlaid your planks
With ivory from the coasts of Cyprus.
7 Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was what you spread for your sail;
Blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah was what covered you.

8 “Inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;
Your wise men, O Tyre, were in you;
They became your pilots.
9 Elders of Gebal and its wise men
Were in you to caulk your seams;
All the ships of the sea
And their oarsmen were in you
To market your merchandise.

10 “Those from Persia, Lydia, and Libya
Were in your army as men of war;
They hung shield and helmet in you;
They gave splendor to you.
11 Men of Arvad with your army were on your walls all around,
And the men of Gammad were in your towers;
They hung their shields on your walls all around;
They made your beauty perfect.

12 “Tarshish was your merchant because of your many luxury goods. They gave you silver, iron, tin, and lead for your goods. 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14 Those from the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses, steeds, and mules. 15 The men of Dedan were your traders; many isles were the market of your hand. They brought you ivory tusks and ebony as payment. 16 Syria was your merchant because of the abundance of goods you made. They gave you for your wares emeralds, purple, embroidery, fine linen, corals, and rubies. 17 Judah and the land of Israel were your traders. They traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnith, millet, honey, oil, and balm. 18 Damascus was your merchant because of the abundance of goods you made, because of your many luxury items, with the wine of Helbon and with white wool. 19 Dan and Javan paid for your wares, traversing back and forth. Wrought iron, cassia, and cane were among your merchandise. 20 Dedan was your merchant in saddlecloths for riding. 21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your regular merchants. They traded with you in lambs, rams, and goats. 22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah were your merchants. They traded for your wares the choicest spices, all kinds of precious stones, and gold. 23 Haran, Canneh, Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Assyria, and Chilmad were your merchants. 24 These were your merchants in choice items—in purple clothes, in embroidered garments, in chests of multicolored apparel, in sturdy woven cords, which were in your marketplace.

25 “The ships of Tarshish were carriers of your merchandise.
You were filled and very glorious in the midst of the seas.
26 Your oarsmen brought you into many waters,
But the east wind broke you in the midst of the seas.

27 “Your riches, wares, and merchandise,
Your mariners and pilots,
Your caulkers and merchandisers,
All your men of war who are in you,
And the entire company which is in your midst,
Will fall into the midst of the seas on the day of your ruin.
28 The common-land will shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

29 “All who handle the oar,
The mariners,
All the pilots of the sea
Will come down from their ships and stand on the shore.
30 They will make their voice heard because of you;
They will cry bitterly and cast dust on their heads;
They will roll about in ashes;
31 They will shave themselves completely bald because of you,
Gird themselves with sackcloth,
And weep for you
With bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.
32 In their wailing for you
They will take up a lamentation,
And lament for you:
‘What city is like Tyre,
Destroyed in the midst of the sea?

33 ‘When your wares went out by sea,
You satisfied many people;
You enriched the kings of the earth
With your many luxury goods and your merchandise.
34 But you are broken by the seas in the depths of the waters;
Your merchandise and the entire company will fall in your midst.
35 All the inhabitants of the isles will be astonished at you;
Their kings will be greatly afraid,
And their countenance will be troubled.
36 The merchants among the peoples will hiss at you;
You will become a horror, and be no more forever.’”

Oh, but there is so much more to discover! What else do you see, can you see?

I don't see the Lamentation speaking directly of and to Satan! Rather I believe the Lamentation is speaking directly of and to mankind, here the inhabitants of Tyrus who have rejected the Creator and allowed themselves to be led by the power of Satan through pride and greed. Compare the words of the prophet here to the people, especially the king of Tyrus, with the prophecy John writes regarding Babylon the great whore in the Revelation.

Yes, as his children--the children of Satan, the fallen.

The Ezekiel passage is clearly speaking about the Prince of Tyrus, who was a historical man, not a spirit and not Satan. God is using Tyrus here as a "representative" of mankind, who, of course, was created perfect (confirmed by Scripture), and yet had rebelled against God in the Garden. Nowhere in the whole Scripture does God's Word EVERY say that Satan was "created good, perfect, righteous, etc. All those (and I mean ALL) who claim Satan was created perfect are hypothesising and speculating! That man was created good and perfect is NOT hypothesizing or speculating.

See, "Adam" was as the federal representative of mankind, when he was created good and perfect and without sin of any kind. If I might anticipate anyone's retort, "No, it was Satan!" Listen... I would easily reply that Satan doesn't qualify because god never said anywhere in Scripture that Satan was created either good or perfect. Did you? You need to listen to what god did say is that Satan was a liar and murder from the beginning! So then, WHEN was he ever been good or perfect according to the authority of Scripture instead of your Sunday School coloring book? I know man says that, but where does God say that? Humm?

God speaking in the Garden of Eden "for our learning" and not because He's actually talked to a literal snake and telling him he's going to crawl on his belly forever, as if a snake would comprehend or was evil or was responsible. No, the true serpent cursed is not crawling around on the ground, he's cursed to be born as the rebellious spirit of disobedience.

Psalms 58:3-4
  • "The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
  • Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;"
God said Satan was a liar from the beginning and he ascribes the same to mankind! And note he has the poison of a serpent, and a snake that can't hear, hummm. That would be the Serpent cursed, man. Satan a liar from the beginning, and no matter how much I witness the gospel to anyone, he can't "hear." But from his mouth is full of poison.

Let make a quick jump to Ezekiel 38 concerning "countries" with red and blue bold. It is because Scott mentioned the nations in Eze 26 that are also found in Ezekiel 38 for your careful consideration:

Eze 38:1-13
(1) And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(2) Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,
(3) And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
(4) And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
(5) Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
(6) Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
(7) Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
(8) After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
(9) Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.
(10) Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
(11) And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
(12) To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
(13) Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Contrary to popular belief, Ezekiel 38 is NOT talking about Russia, Iran, etc. who are going to invade nation of Israel. Anyone with carnal minds will read Scripture into modern nations and world news to predict the battle of Gog and Magog. But this is not what God talks about!

I will not going to write a commentary here but make few points for your and consideration and study.

Rev 20:7-8
(7) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
(8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Satan was bound at the Cross so that Christ could build the church where people were no longer deceived. After all Elect has been secured, Satan will be loosened and go out and deceive the nations against. God is not talking about modern physical nations here, but the unsaved Gentiles. Elect in Christ are spiritual Jews and those who are not sealed are spiritually gentiles (nations).

Gog and Magog does NOT specifically represent the country of Russia, or any political entity. Gog and Magog represent not merely the unsaved masses of the world, but much more deceptive than that, Gog and Magog represent Spirit Satan of Man within Christian appearing masses of the unsaved throughout the four quarters of the world! This is why Christ warned us in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24:24), "for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very Elect.

God, much of the time, speaks through the use of parables containing symbols, allegories, metaphors, etc., all in picturesque language. It is imperative to understand that we are NOT dismissing the literal and historical events of the Old Testament as mythical or fables in any way. God forbid! No, but rather we know without doubt that God moved the events of ancient Israel as examples, 1 Corinthians 10:11, and as our schoolmaster, Galatians 3:24, for the purpose of instructing His Church concerning the final battle of Armageddon.

Here is the summary:

Gog and Magog is Spirit Satan who has the unsaved masses of the world under His control but he wants to be the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Plus, Persia, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer, and house of Togarmah along with many people with him. What does this means? Who does these nations represent?

If you study these nations with the rest of Scripture, you will find that they are spiritual merchants in God's Church that will, in these end days, be given over to Satan! Once they are deceived, they are the merchants that will no longer buy God's merchandise anymore but lying signs and wonders of Satan through the mouth of the false prophets and christs.

Rev 18:11-13
(11) And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
(12) The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
(13) And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

I suggest that you check with Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer and Togarmah with your Scripture to find what merchandise they trade! You will see that their merchandises will also be found as merchandises in Revelation 18! It is becasue they used to work as merchants in God's House to help building the Church, but in the end, when Satan is loosened, they will be deceived and aligned with him to come against God's Word and truthful testimony of His Elect.

Meshech, Tubal and all other nations represent professed Christians of the church! Those people of the congregation are the ones who have not yet sealed by God, Revelation 9:4. After God finished secured all His Chosen Elect, He gave professed believers to Satan to be decevied as a judgment.

Rev 11:1-2
(1) And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
(2) But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Verse 1 refers to the securing of the Elect. Verse 2, however, refers to professing Christians in the “court” — those who claim to be believers but are not truly saved. They are among us within the church. In time, God gives them over to Satan to be deceived. How? By the false prophets and christs as smoke locusts of Revelation 9. Read it yourself! Like the plague of locusts of Egypt in Exodus as an EXAMPLE. They devoured all crops growing in the fields, all plants and herbs of the land, the fruit on the trees, and every green thing that remained after the hail plague. It says that the locusts covered the land so completely that the ground became dark, and they ate everything left after the earlier plague of hail.

But here in the book of Revelation, God's unfaithful church is seen by Him as SPIRITUAL EGYPT (and Sodom). This is where the smoke locusts are found attacking at! God is instructing them, in Revelation 9:4 not to hurt grass, green things, or trees, BUT ONLY those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. See? The grass, green things, or trees signify men sealed by God, the Elect! But the false prophets and christs (smoke locusts) are allowed to deceive those people in the church who have not yet sealed by God. This is the professed Christians the Lord talked about who will believe a lie who will align with Gog and Magog. They are seen by God as Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer, and house of Togarmah BECAUSE they were once merchants of God before but not chosen. See? This is why the false prophets, christs and people deceived by them will come to destroy what is truth in the church becasue they hate God's Word by their own rebellion and abominations.

Ezekiel 38:12-13
(12) To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
(13) Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Sheba, Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish and all the young lions thereof represent the chosen Elect! They are prophesying against Gog and Magog, and nations who partake with them! The Elect will realize the time has come when they see the great falling away of faith in the church and the man of sin be revealed - spirit Satan coming through false prophets and christs. This is why the Elect will depart out of church knowing that God is judging them.

The point is... Gog and Magog is a picturesque language about this horrific spiritual battle within God's House where Satan's messengers are attacking the Word of God by replace it with their own doctrines. The battle of Gog and Magog "IS" the battle of Armaggeddon because it is all about the final congregational battlefield all over the world. While many people foolishly believe the battle of Gog and Magog is about physical war between Russia and Israel.

Thats it for now. No time for proofreading. Now you do your own study with this information!

You prompt revealing the other side of the coin of "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” --You say: Not Satan, but mankind--but "Whose son" is "mankind?" I have told you who.

Son of Mankind?? You do not make any sense but regardless, I can’t help you if you’re not spiritually enlightened by the Holy Spirit on this subject.

You also say by assumption that Tyrus (or mankind) was created "perfect"--when he was not--but was created a mere and imperfect "image"--"lower than" He who alone is "perfect."

I listen to God’s Word. Adam was created perfect according to the Scriptures. Of course, you reject that because it contradicts your doctrine and the books you wrote on.

So, no, it is rather you who is guilty of merely "speculating"--only using enough of what is true to sound believable--an unholy practice also of he who is unholy, haven fallen.

The Lord will judge our testimony — and your books as well — and I’m comfortable with that.

And what you say of the serpent--if God can give spiritual sight, thought, and even audible speech to a donkey--where is your believe? Your post is just you talking according to your own understanding.

Ahem...

Your argument does not prove what you think it proves. Yes, God caused Balaam's donkey to speak in Book of Numbers 22, but the passage explicitly says the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey. It was a direct miracle clearly stated in the text.

In Book of Genesis 3, however, the text never says that God opened the mouth of a literal snake or performed any miracle to make an animal talk. You are inserting that assumption into the passage because you are reading it carnally rather than spiritually.

The Bible repeatedly uses serpents as symbols of deception, sin, and Satan. Even Book of Revelation 12:9 calls Satan “that ancient serpent.” The issue in Eden was deception that arose within Eve when she entertained the lie.

So appealing to Balaam’s donkey does not prove your point at all. That was a clearly stated miracle, while your interpretation requires a talking reptile that the text never explains. You accuse me of relying on my own understanding, yet that is exactly what you are doing by forcing a literal animal conversation into a passage filled with spiritual symbolism.

Scripture interprets Scripture, and when it does, the serpent represents deception and Satan—not a biological snake holding a theological discussion with Eve.

Why do you pile more on? Much of it is good, and much of it not. But by the sheer quantity, you bring your own cloud of confusion causing error to be multiplied. Begin rather with one thing, that the foundation is first made sure.

But first ask yourself: Which of these things has not existed since the beginning--even beginning with Eve? Name one (before going on). That is why I started with Tyre...and did not rush on to give a full manifesto.

So, yes, it is all not about Russia or even Israel, but was from the beginning--even before the foundation of the world--and only now made manifest. In other words, the key, and the error of prophecy...is that it was "before", and only continues to unfold as revelations made manifest--as a witness before the Judgement.

Huh? Where is your Scripture to back up your blabbing statement. You do not make any sense. No wondering the review on one of your books on Amazon wrote, "this book reads like a gibberish rant and nothing ground breaking or new is presented."

Go figure.

One thing at a time--one stone:

Can you not even give the answer by quoting Jesus, who said, "You are of your father the devil?"

Whose helping who?

Slow down.

Yes, as his children--the children of Satan, the fallen.

Are you saying "O covering cherub" is referring to humanity being under the influence of Satan? Do you agree unfallen Adam is "the anointed cherub that covereth" and not Satan who is from the beginning a liar and murderer?

You prompt revealing the other side of the coin of "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” --You say: Not Satan, but mankind--but "Whose son" is "mankind?" I have told you who.

What are you talking about here? You seem to be implying that the Son of God (Christ Jesus our Lord) is the Son of fallen mankind? Please explain?

5 They made all your planks of fir trees from Senir;
They took a cedar from Lebanon to make you a mast.
6 Of oaks from Bashan they made your oars;
The company of Ashurites have inlaid your planks
With ivory from the coasts of Cyprus.
7 Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was what you spread for your sail;
Blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah was what covered you.

8 “Inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;
Your wise men, O Tyre, were in you;
They became your pilots.
9 Elders of Gebal and its wise men
Were in you to caulk your seams;
All the ships of the sea
And their oarsmen were in you
To market your merchandise.

10 “Those from Persia, Lydia, and Libya
Were in your army as men of war;
They hung shield and helmet in you;
They gave splendor to you.
11 Men of Arvad with your army were on your walls all around,
And the men of Gammad were in your towers;
They hung their shields on your walls all around;

30 They will make their voice heard because of you;
They will cry bitterly and cast dust on their heads;
They will roll about in ashes;
31 They will shave themselves completely bald because of you,
Gird themselves with sackcloth,
And weep for you
With bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.
32 In their wailing for you
They will take up a lamentation,
And lament for you:
‘What city is like Tyre,
Destroyed in the midst of the sea?

33 ‘When your wares went out by sea,
You satisfied many people;
You enriched the kings of the earth
With your many luxury goods and your merchandise.
34 But you are broken by the seas in the depths of the waters;
Your merchandise and the entire company will fall in your midst.
35 All the inhabitants of the isles will be astonished at you;
Their kings will be greatly afraid,
And their countenance will be troubled.
36 The merchants among the peoples will hiss at you;
You will become a horror, and be no more forever.’”
It seems to be now, but even more so in the past.
There is nothing new under the sun.

You also say by assumption that Tyrus (or mankind) was created "perfect"--when he was not--but was created a mere and imperfect "image"--"lower than" He who alone is "perfect."

Adam as representative head of the whole human race, of whom Tyrus represents. Adam, and according to human seed, the king of Tyrus also before sin and death through sin entered into creation, was created in the likeness and image of God "very good", before sin was found in him. Therefore, it is Adam as representative head of the human race was "perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee." Through Adam's seed all of humanity was perfect at creation. Which is why the prophet speaks of the king of Tyrus as perfect at creation before the fall.

The heart of the matter is that Christ is the First and the Last (Adam). But the covering is that shadow of turning, that form of flesh--that bronze serpent raised up on a pole in the desert--over which Satan became prince and ruler for a time. So the mix...is Christ taking that fall which was of Satan, upon Himself. But the two are not to be confused, for the One is good, and the other evil--to the One life eternal, to the other death eternal.

These are difficult realities not easy to accept, I understand that.

But that was God speaking--His way of saying--"I gave you everything!"

Which, in a manner of speaking, includes a but, a therefore, or however by God's own distinction, saying: "very good" vs. "perfect", and yet not ultimately perfect as it became evident.

"Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
