It is possible to profess faith in Jesus as savior and still deny his lordship through the way you live. Many people want the benefits of belonging to Jesus without accepting the responsibilities. They want forgiveness without submission. They desire heaven without renouncing control over their own lives, but the gospel does not offer this option. Romans 10:9-10, confessing Jesus as Lord is not just a verbal declaration, it is recognizing that he has total authority over everything you are and do. Denying Jesus’ lordship happens every time you place your will, above his will, when you choose your comfort, your reputation, your plans, instead of obedience to what God has already revealed.
Luke 6:46, the question is penetrating, because it exposes the inconsistency, Lord is someone who gives orders that must be obeyed, if there is no obedience, there is no real acknowledgment of lordship, it is just an empty title. Matthew 7:21-23, religious words do not impress God, he seeks genuine transformation, but many had found a way to maintain the religious appearance without truly submitting to Jesus. When it comes to the most intimate areas of their lives, their moral choices, their relationships, their money, their ambitions, Jesus was not Lord, they were lords of themselves. They call this grace, they call this freedom, but its true name, ungodliness, because living without reverence to the commands of Jesus, even professing faith in him is ungodliness disguised as religion.
Your face becomes a mystery, your flaws go unnoticed, your blemishes remain unhealed, your spiritually active, outwardly polished, yet inwardly, unexamined. When was the last time you let the light of God search your hidden places, Psalm 139-23, David knew that unexamined hearts, breed unseen sin and unchecked sin always kills intimacy. 2 Corinthians 13:5, test yourselves, can you hear the urgency? Paul understood that deception doesn’t always show up in the form of heresy, it often creeps in through comfort, compromise and the slow erosion of conviction. Why do people struggle with their conscience, the gospel message reveals their guilt and who wants to confront their guilt, this is why people often suppress the gospel message, as it confronts each individual with their personal responsibility and guilt before a Holy God.
Proverbs 23:7, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Your life doesn’t move in the direction of your prayers, your life moves in the direction of your thoughts. You can be saved and still tormented in your mind. You can love Jesus and still be losing a silent war no one see, because spiritual warfare doesn’t start with demons showing up at your door, it starts with a thought, a suggestion, strongholds. Start by tracing your reactions back to their root. Why does that comment trigger you? Why do you get anxious, when others succeed? Why do compliments make you uncomfortable? Why do constantly expect rejection, even from God? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what you’ve normalized and the Spirit will, because the Spirit is not just interested in blessing you, the Spirit is passionate about freeing you.
Truth doesn’t shame you, it delivers you and right now, the Spirit of God is ready to shine his light on the walls, you thought were just part of your personality. The Holy Spirit is ready to show you, that what you thought was just the way life is, was never his design. What have you built, what have you agreed with, what have you normalized that was never from God and by the Holy Spirit, tear it down, because what’s been built in you, doesn’t have to stay in you. You can be free and you can be whole, expose the lies, identify the patterns, start tracing the strongholds back to their roots. But something still holds ground, something still pushes back, some strongholds aren’t just built, they’re guarded and behind every guarded stronghold is a strong man.
