A mystery revealed:
Many have labeled Satan's original sin as pride. While that is true in a certain sense, something else had to take place first.
He took his eyes off God and looked at himself.
This is important to consider because it was the birth of "self" consciousness. Satan(then Lucifer) looked at himself and compared himself with the other angels. He was lifted up in pride through self exaltation. He then sought to dethrone God himself. What was the first thing Adam and Eve realized after they sinned? That they were NAKED. At the moment of the fall self consciousness was formed in them. Up until that point they were only conscious of God and His glory. They never even considered themselves. They were enraptured in total worship.
This is what worship does for us today. We lose all sight of our unworthiness, of our faults and shortcomings and focus ONLY on God's greatness...His worthiness...His compassion, love, forgiveness and mercy. We lose any element of self consciousness and fix our eyes on Jesus alone. It's not about us it is all about him. When we do this, we reflect the glory we behold and all God sees in us...is himself. In fact, the only way to be conformed into His image is to behold Him:
2 Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
So DENY YOURSELF. Do not consider yourself. Consider only Him and be transformed. Worship Him alone.
