1Sam 15:1 And Samuel said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the LORD.
1Sam 15:2 Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt.
1Sam 15:3 Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

I guess every nation has its own minority religious fanatics, but here we see the leader of a nation misusing a 3000 year old word from God as if it is still valid today and the enemies of Israel (Gaza specifically mentioned) must be destroyed.

Horrible.

This is from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this evening (Saturday, 28 October 2023), at the joint statements with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister Benny Gantz [translated from Hebrew]:

...

Remember what Amalek did to you' (Deuteronomy 25:17). We remember and we fight.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deut 25:17 “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt,
Deut 25:18 how he attacked you on the way when you were faint and weary, and cut off your tail, those who were lagging behind you, and he did not fear God.
Deut 25:19 Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget.
How did you come to the conclusion that the word of God is being misused?
Israel still believes in the Mosaic law and live that way. They still use the OT. That's why they want to build a temple again and sacrifice again, like the Mosaic law says.
Yes. They still deny Christ and are violently opposed to Christians praying for Israel at the "wall". By the way, the Holy Spirit told me that they are pilotless, meaning they are on their own. It isn't like before the exile when prophets and judges guided and helped them. Christ is the High Priest now, and they don't recognize it. The Mosaic covenant ended and there is not an Ark of the covenant anymore. Jews have to accept Christ as savior, just like the rest of the world.
Thank you for engaging.
Ironic that this is a Turkish video, considering that the government would like to exterminate the Kurds.
The Old Testament passage concerns Ethic Cleansing, not Ethnic Cleansing (genocide).
Similarly, the wars against Hamas and Hezbollah are aimed at eliminating terrorists, both of whom target civilians as a built-in part of their violence.
Peace.
Would be nice if he knew his own history.
Amalek is a tribe of the Edomites. The Philistines weren't Amalekites, or vice versa. The Philistines controlled what is now Gaza. The Edomites, including Amalek, lived further inland and south.
Of course, the modern-day Palestinians aren't descended from the Philistines, despite the name. And the descendants of the Amalekites today call themselves Jewish, so that's pretty ironic.
More history:
Esther 3:10
So the king took his signet ring from his finger and gave it to Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.
Who were the Agagites?
1 Samuel 15: 32,33
Then Samuel said, “Bring me Agag king of the Amalekites.” Agag came to him in chains. And he thought, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.”
But Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so will your mother be childless among women.” And Samuel put Agag to death before the Lord at Gilgal.
So, was Haman a descendent of King Agag of the Amalekites?
Peace.
Probably. The Amalekites were always enemies of Israel.
They just aren't related to the people in Gaza, so it's a little bonkers to equate the two
Honoring my mother and father was ordered. ~ 3,700 years ago. Does that mean it doesn’t apply now?
How about making it simpler, don't forget what the white men has done to the blacks, kill them all.
Correct.
Then I suppose you would agree with me using "Remember Amelek" as an excuse for the violence in Gaza is false and inflammatory.
Even if you don't have high blood pressure, you should still be prepared with medicine for it.
You don't understand at all what I said is a proverb and slang in China.
You're right - I don't know that. I do know something about the Pharmaceutical companies in America.
I also understand something about what the New Testament calls "sorcery" - that word is "pharmakeutikos" in the original language. It refers to those who make people sick, for the purpose of selling them a cure. "Sorcery" is alive and well in America.
