A believer will still sin in the flesh, but those sins will not be held against them because they have already been nailed to the cross.

Sounds like mens psychological … babble…
The Born again can not sin, but they can, but it’s okay, because it was already forgiven…?

Colossians 2:13-14
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Hath quicken-ED… but, but, but…you can still sin? No.

At the same time, it would be a mistake to suggest a believer has a license to sin.

More of mans psychological … babble…
“License to sin”…
Dumbest phrase I’ve ever heard.
Men are naturally born in sin…no license to commit sin required.
Remotely implying “Becoming Forgiven, soul saved, spirit quickened”…means… eh, you can get this Magic license and still reject God while Gods Spirit is IN you … Failing to Keep you from rejecting Him…

I'm pretty sure John was saved!

1 John 1:8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Who is this Verse talking about?

A man who says he has no sin…

How can that be the same man, who confessed his sins and was forgiven his sins?

So why, is that verse in this conversation, that is talking about men forgiven of their sins?

You must be the only person on Earth who CAN NOT sin. Aren't you and Jesus gonna be lonely in Heaven?

WE = Believers, as if you did not know.
so you say you are a "recipient" of and "quickened" by the Spirit of God/Christ?
and.. you have no war in you …

Wait…what are you talking about… no war in me?

I have no obligation to speak to something I did not say.

You never have a moment in the flesh?

What is a moment in the Flesh?

bravo- - -amazing- you sound like Behold- I'm just speechless to meet people who have surpassed the apostle Paul who was still honest with himself and others.

Look at you…
You make bizarre comments, ask a weird question. And then decide some answer to your unanswered question…
With some snarky remark.

Is that what you mean by a Flesh moment… ask and answer and be snarky all at once?

If you are a human, you were Given the same Offering as was Offered me .

I took the Offering… and can sin no more…

You can continue choosing to reject the Offering and continue your sinning…

Seems you are enjoying your choice.

I think you just SHATTERED the irony meter.

1 John 3:
[9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
You can continue choosing to reject the Offering and continue your sinning…

I was just talking about this in another thread. You have to ask yourself, what is author's purpose, and how does the stated verse fit that purpose?

The purpose of 1 John is to exhort his flock to avoid sin; it says so right up front in chapter 2 verse 1. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. John mentions this more than 20 times in the letter. If children of God literally can't sin, why write the letter?

In Chapter 3, John starts by establishing their identity as children of God. See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. In verse 9 quoted above, John is appealing to their shared identity as children of God to avoid sin because children of God don't sin. See how this is consistent with the stated theme of the letter?

don't put words in my mouth please.

@Jack
@Dan Clarkston
@Jesussaves150
@Rye

I'm glad to hear that your every thought is pure..

When did you hear that? I didn’t say that.

You sure about that?

Why ask me if I am sure of something I never said?

Look closely.
We are being made new day by day- to be more like Christ. It's an ongoing walk.

When a man IS IN Christ… his flesh is accounted “DEAD”…
(Crucified with Jesus’ Body ring a bell?)

In Christ, is Occupying Jesus’ RISEN body…
Not changing “your” body, day by day.
Your body, is Sanctified… meaning accounted Dead, forgiven, meaning “set apart”, prepared, meaning washed, cleansed, justified, prepared to BE Risen Glorified.
That … Raising up, is When YOUR Body is changed.

Day by day (saved or not) your body will age, wrinkle, lose muscle mass, lose teeth, thinning hair, slow in pace, forget things, tire,
Etc.

Being more CHRIST LIKE, is about BEHAVIOR… not your flesh.

BEHAVIOR… speak for yourself, kindness, truthful, generous, trust Gods Word, Praise God, Thank God, worship God, Give God Credit for His Blessings…etc. same as Jesus Did.

When God Teaches…His SEED in you will Keep you from having the ability to SIN / Aka…Not Believe in God / to Reject God…
Don’t you Believe Him?

I do.

When God Teaches…His POWER IN You is Greater than ALL other powers…
Don’t you believe Him?

I do.

Why criticize and Make snarky remarks to a person who Believes Gods Word and Has accepted Gods Offering of His Salvation and and His Seed… and is Not ashamed to Boldly exalt God For His Great Gift that that person…sins no more?

Glory to God,

Nicodemus once asked Jesus, Πῶς δύναται ταῦτα γενέσθαι (John 3:9). Literally, "How can these things (being born from above) come to be?" Barclay in his commentary on John 3 notes that this is a much better question than most people give Nicodemus credit for.

What does one have to do to become "born of God's seed?"

If one does become "born of God's seed", why does John need to tell them not to sin?

I was just talking about this in another thread. You have to ask yourself, what is author's purpose, and how does the stated verse fit that purpose?

Purpose…Knowledge…Order and Way

The purpose of 1 John is to exhort his flock to avoid sin; it says so right up front in chapter 2 verse 1. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. John mentions this more than 20 times in the letter. If children of God literally can't sin, why write the letter?

Children… is indicative of young in age and knowledge… as well as young in knowledge, regardless of age.

The starting place of the Order and Way…
First were the Hebrews, adults, young in knowledge. Given Laws, like a child young in knowledge are given Rules.
Purpose … for their benefit.

A division, Between, Hebrews (tribes, Jews) and Gentiles.
Major Factor… Mosaic Laws/ Rules… Given to Hebrews/tribes/ Jews… and Not Gentiles.

Why?
Tribes, Jews…Not Gentiles?
Jews were taught, then First appointed to Teach “their own”… blood stock descending Jews.
Thereafter (like 4,000 years later)… Jesus arrives… to do what? Seek after the Jews, who not only failed to teach the Gentiles, but were failing their own, by following ways and gods of Gentiles.
It’s a generational thing…for many Jews, young and old… a start over, as children…

Meantime Jesus’ arrival Fulfills the Jewish Law… and?
Who must follow a Law that IS Fulfilled?
No one.
Who must keep slaughtering an Animal for their Sin Offering…When God Provided the Perfect Sin Offering… Jesus’ Body?
No one.
And a dilemma…
An animal sin offering could only be Offered, slaughtered … IN the Temple IN Jerusalem…
A dilemma, No Temple.
The Apostles, were Jews, were teaching Jews, little Children, about a sacrifice for sin offering was being provided by God…
No animal, sacrifice necessary, no Temple for animal sacrifice…
“Some Jews” were accepting… for a short while… “ Apostles died… Jews broadly returned to following (old laws)…
However the .. Apostle Paul… different than the 12… had a Different assignment… to Teach…
Jews, kings…. And Gentiles. About Gods Offering of Salvation to All, not only Jews.
Same continues to this day…
Any, All Begin learning at any age as little ignorant children…obey this, obey that, do this, don’t do that…
Mature, Believe, Trust……And when Sure, ready, Prepared.. “make a True vow of Commitment…to your heavenly creator and maker…
And what…?
You keep “trying, with your own will power, to be faithful… ?” with powerful demons everywhere trying to trick you?? And powerful governing authorities forbidding, threatening, what god you must believe in or be killed??

Or… do you learn, choose, accept Gods offering… That He… the highest, greatest power above all power…
Forgive you for having not believed in Him, Not trusting in Him, Fearing other powers greater than yourself…and He Offering…( if you are willing to Take)…
…forgiveness, will save your soul, will birth
you a new spirit, and His Spirit, His Power will dwell in you and keep you forever in His protection…that no man, no demon… can supersede?

That… is an Order and Way… that which if an individual chooses… does not keep that individual … a little child… Rather they have become a son of God.

And what is their Great Gift…?
By Gods Power, with and IN them…can that “son” ever again, deny, reject, be Against God, doubt God.

That applies to those who chose to accept Gods Offering…

And those who reject, are doubting, unsure?
They can remain as little children, trying for awhile, hearing for awhile, get busy, be engrossed in academics, sports, videos, dating, work, entertainment…blah, blah… maybe spend an hour a week in church, maybe twice a year… try to be “nice”… some focused entirely on sex, position, Money…
Point…
Many can forge their own likes, time, Believe without an investment in a relationship with God…like little children….(going to visit grandpa a few times a year)…or ignore God… or commit and Have a daily relationship with God being His son.

1 John 3:9 is not about a relationship with God and little children.
It is the Grand Prize… of having become an irrevocable (24-7 eternal) “son of God”…. That Gods Power WILL keep forever… and no other power can undo, change.

Glory to God,
Taken.

What does one have to do to become "born of God's seed?"

He was wondering how a mans body could return to the womb to be born again.

The Lord was Not speaking of a born again Body, rather a Born again spirit.

You noted… it begins broadly talking to “little children”… the ignorant, unknowing, the learning…

Then lands on the Ears… for little children who grow, hear more, learn more, mature, become wise… and…make a commitment to Gods Offering.

Why do you teach your little children… toddlers and pre teens… and continually “remind, repeat”, give greater knowledge to 20 yr olds?
Is a relationship with your toddler, pre teen… good, one hour a week? Three hours a week? Twice a year?
God offers a 24-7 any time, any place relationship with Him.
Work, home, store, traveling, gardening, mucking the barn, sick… He is always there, ready, willing, to hear your words, your praise, your thanks, your questions, to give His Wisdom on any matter.

If one does become "born of God's seed", why does John need to tell them not to sin?

Why do you not know Which Scriptures APPLY to you, and Which do not?

Are you still a little child, learning to tie your shoes?
Are you still a little child just learning ABOUT
God?

And what about little children just learning ABOUT God? Should they be ignored? Not taught?

Point is… you should know… which Scriptures Apply to YOU, by what you have chosen, did, do.

Do you need to Learn… how to become soul saved, spirit quickened… if you have already become soul saved, spirit quickened?

And by the same token… what a about those NOT soul saved, spirit quickened… should they not have access to that knowledge?

Scripture is One Book Filled with a multitude of Knowledge… that is Specific to every individual…

My soul IS saved, my spirit IS quickened…(according to Gods Order, Way,)…my relationship with God is Fixed, constant, eternal. (according to Gods Order and Way). So, there are Few and Specific Passages that Apply to me… and loads of Scripture that DO NOT Apply to me.

Glory to God,
Taken
