Let's do this, people: I want y'all to think about a few things:

1. Why did Paul write this letter to the Roman house churches? (Ever since Luther, Protestants have looked at Romans as a roadmap for how to get their ugly little butts saved, but Paul is writing to believers who come from both pagan and Jewish backgrounds and are presumably already saved.)
Then again he could have been iterating the path to salvation again so they could be sure they had it
2. What is Paul's purpose in writing chapters 9-11? How does that serve Paul's overall purposes?
To show that even though Israel was cast aside, it was temporary and they would once again be recieved.
3. Why did Paul use the Joel quote as his prooftext? What point was he trying to make?
To show that WHOSOEVER (Jew or Greek) called upon the name of the Lord would be saved.

Here is what scripture says

[Galatians 2:8 KJV] "(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)" ************ Peter was the apostle to the Jews

[Acts 2:5 KJV] "And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven." *********** Pentecost was a Jewish feast and there no Gentiles said to there, just Jews

[Acts 2:14 KJV] "But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all [ye] that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:" *********** Peter being apostle to the Jews spoke unto only the Jews

[Acts 2:36 KJV] "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." ************ Peter was saying the house of Israel that they crucified their Lord and Christ. He was addressing only Jews

[Acts 2:38 KJV] "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
[Acts 2:39 KJV] "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call." ************* The promise of remission of sins and the Holy Ghost was only to the Jews of Israel

[Acts 2:41 KJV] "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls." ********** The only one who believed were Jews

[Acts 2:42 KJV] "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." ********* It was only Jews who believed and followed their apostle Peter

[Acts 2:46 KJV] "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,"
[Acts 2:47 KJV] "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." ************ The saved Jews worshiped in the temple and were members of the church at Jerusalem NOT the body of Christ.
How many times must point your error @Doug? How many times? Peter was appointed by God to go to the gentiles also and not only the jews, I have told you this 10 times already and proved it;

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. (Acts 15:7, KJV)

Please explain to me why you reject this truth.

Yes praise god. And Jesus commanded the gospel of salvation be first preached in Jersualem, then Judea, then Smaria then to the uttermost parts of the earth.

These people were saved in the same ways gentiles were under Peter first then Paul. Peter did not preach to Jews exclusively, nor did Paul preach to gentileds exclusively. In every city Pau went, if there was a synagogue, he went there first!

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Ephesians 2:

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Paul acknowledged Jew and Gentile are one body- you must as well or be guilty of false teaching.

In both Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13 Joel is being quoted
Joel was prophecy for Israel.
Joel was not given to us the church the body of Christ. We can make some application to us as well.

[Joel 2:28 KJV] "And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:"
[Joel 2:29 KJV] "And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit."
[Joel 2:30 KJV] "And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke."
[Joel 2:31 KJV] "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come."
[Joel 2:32 KJV] "And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call." ************** Beginning in Acts 2:16 Peter quotes Joel to explain to the Jews what was happening. In v30 he says that Christ was raised to sit on David's throne in the millennial kingdom on earth. In v40 he admonished them to save themselves from this untoward generation just as John the Baptist warned them the kingdom was at hand. He was telling them to repent because the kingdom was still being preached. Before the kingdom would be established, they would face the tribulation and the day of the Lord.

Acts is directed to Israel to repent for the coming tribulation and the day of Lord preceding the millennial kingdom.

In Romans 10 Paul is speaking about Israel's salvation. In v8 he quotes Deuteronomy ********** [Deuteronomy 30:14 KJV] "But the word [is] very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it." ********** In Deuteronomy God was appealing to the scattered Jews to obey his voice, and he would gather them and bring them into the promised land. In v6 and v8 he promises them the new covenant, in which, he will cause them to keep his law. In v11-14 God tells them his law is not hidden from them, but it's in their mouth and heart to do them by believing. In Romans Paul's desire was for Israel's salvation. Israel was pursing salvation by the law and Paul was saying in v4 that Christ was the end of the law for salvation. ****** [Romans 10:13 KJV] "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." *********** The righteous by faith in Christ was in their mouth and hearts, they just had to believe. Israel had to confess with their mouth that Jesus was their Christ and the Son of God. They had to believe he rose from the dead to establish their kingdom. Israel had to call upon the name of Christ.

We too call upon the name of Christ and believe he died for our sins rose from the dead for our justification, but this was for Israel's salvation and was not speaking of us the church, the body of Christ. In Romans 11 Paul will go onto to say Israel will be saved when The Lord Jesus Christ saves Jerusalem from attack at his coming.
.
Eph 2:11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands—
Eph 2:12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility
Eph 2:15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace,
Eph 2:16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.
Eph 2:17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
Eph 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
Eph 2:20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
Eph 2:21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
Eph 2:22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Why is it that you seem intent to put back up the "wall of hostility," making two men in place of the one that Christ created, thereby splitting the "one body"?

What I love about your citing the Ephesians 2 text is that it shows Paul's covenantal focus: How the Gentiles have been included in God's covenantal people. God's covenantal people is also the focus of Romans 9-11 discussed earlier.

You havent proved any such thing

Peter was apostle to the Jews

In Acts 15 Peter was recounting what happened in Acts 10 when the Gentiles believed what he was preaching to Jews
What you say does not hold when you read the text carefully.

In Acts 15:7 Peter stands up and says, in simple words, that God chose him so that the Gentiles would hear the gospel from his mouth and believe. That is not just a story about something that happened once. Peter is explaining why it happened. He is saying God made a choice and gave him that role.

If it was only an accident, or just Gentiles listening in while he spoke to Jews, Peter would not say “God chose me for this.” He would just say it happened. But he speaks of it as a calling.

Now look at Acts 10 itself. When Peter goes to Cornelius, he is not preaching to Jews at all. Cornelius is a Gentile, his household is Gentile, and Peter even says at the beginning that it was not lawful for him to come, but God showed him not to call any man unclean. That moment is not random. It is God correcting Peter and sending him directly to Gentiles.

Then after that, in Acts 11, Peter defends his actions to the other apostles. He explains that God gave the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles the same way as to them. And they accept it and glorify God, saying that repentance unto life has been granted to the Gentiles also. This shows it was not just a one-time misunderstanding. It was recognized as God’s work.

So when you come back to Acts 15:7, Peter is not saying “Gentiles happened to overhear me.” He is saying:

God chose me
God sent me
Gentiles heard through me
Gentiles believed

That is direct.

Also remember what Jesus said before all this. In John 21:15–17, He told Peter to “feed My sheep.” And in John 10:16, Jesus said He has “other sheep” not of that fold, and they must be brought also. That already points beyond Israel. we know also that Jesus did send the 12 to teach to ALL THE WORLD :"Mrk 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

So yes, Peter was sent first to the Jews, but Scripture clearly shows he was also used by God to open the door to the Gentiles. Not by accident, but by God’s decision.

You are trying to limit Peter’s role, but Peter’s own words in Acts 15 make it clear. it is God who said so. who are you to deny What God ordained?

  1. Pentecost = "the fiftieth day"
    1. the second of the three great Jewish feasts, celebrated at Jerusalem yearly, the seventh week after the Passover, in grateful recognition of the completed harvest
God never left anyone out. People did. But you had to be circumcised.

Eph 2:11
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Eph 2:12
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

But we know that circumcision is of the heart and not of the flesh.

Eph 2:14
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:19
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

The enmity was circumcision in the flesh made by hands.

They must have missed this though:
Deu 10:16
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

It has always been there.

Deu 30:6
And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Rom 2:28
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Rom 2:29
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

I guess I must be a Jew.

There is just the one body in this dispensation, but the church in Jerusalem with Peter as their apostle was not the body. They were the believing remnant of Israel
They were the body, hence why Gentiles were grafted in (Rom. 11:11-24). There was and is only one body, just as there was and is only one gospel.

Paul was speaking of the remnant in Rom 11:5 and these are the Gentiles he is talking to. The Gentiles grafted in were the Gentiles in Acts 10. These Gentiles werent put into the body they became part of the believing remnant of Israel
YOu have 0 biblical proof of that. A gentile cannot become part of the believing remnant of Israel. that is like saying a dog can be a cat!!!!!!

The Gentiles did in Acts 10
They believed Peter's preaching
That did not make them part of Israel. One has to be a descendant of Abrahm, Isaac and Jacob in order to be part of Israel or part of spiritual Israel. You need to read your bible more.

they were not circumcised as every Israeli still must be according to teh covenant made with Abraham for ALLgenerations.

You don't understand salvation.
The remedy for sin is innocent blood.

The REASON for God's son to be sacrificed was 2 fold
1) the payment HAD to be through KINSMAN.
GOD HAD TO BECOME MAN.
2) TROUGH DEATH, GODS BLOOD, PAYMENT WAS PART OF SALVATION.
You do not understand what salvation is.

Psssst...the death was ONLY PART.
THE DEATH PRECEDED RESURRECTION.

THE RESURRECTION is the vehicle to LIFE IN ABUNDANCE.

Life has to be imparted.

I will not even touch on healing as part of the covenant.

You need to get basic salvation straight.
You think sentences save us.
Paul's sentences save but Peter had the wrong sentences. That is your gospel message.
NEWS FLASH.....salvation is a person.
Has zero...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Paul or Peter or any man.

Jesus is salvation.
Not a book
Not the correct sentences.

Witnessing is GIVING THEM JESUS.
NOT DOCTRINE.

The church continues in a total fog, but Jesus and the Holy Spirit bring in believers inspite of hyperpauline damage.

Getting saved is a surrender.
Jesus comes in.

That happens everyday with no hyperpaulines anywhere in sight.

Lord help us from this dogma and powerless religion.

Jesus rebuked Israel for saying by their being descendants of Abraham made them God's children

They didnt have to be circumcised according to the determination made in Acts 15
If that centurion wanted to become Jewish, He did. That ban on circumcision was for gentiles becoming Christians. REad your bible.

Jesus did not rebuke them for being descendants of Abrham, He rebuked them for thinking their lineage gave them an advantage by itself. Read your bible with the help of the Spirit.
