Earthquakes in Nevada

Earthquakes are quite scary when they are somewhat bigger or shallower. Alot of small ones might just feel like a tiny bump or maybe you don't feel it at all.
When I came to California in 1967, we didn't know they had earthquakes. A few weeks after arriving I felt something. My cousin told me it was an earthquake. Maybe if we had known we wouldn't have come. Seeing all of those movies where the earth opens up didn't help!
I know someone that lived through the huge Alaskan earthquake. She said the house next door actually sunk down so far into the ground that the people couldn't open their door. They were in a huge hole.
