2 Tim 3:5

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

By Limited Atonement I mean that Christ Saving Death was and is for only some of mankind in the eternal purpose of God in Christ Jesus. God hath sovereignly limited the efficacy of His Sons Death to save only some, hence leaving the rest to perish in their sins ! Rom 11:7

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

Now what did the Election obtain ? This 2 Tim 2:10

10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

They obtain Salvation which is in Christ Jesus with Eternal Glory !

Now, once anyone denies limited atonement, that Christ's saving death was only for some and not for all without exception, and doeth falsely teach that Christ's death was for all without exception, yet knowing that all without exception shall not obtain Salvation with Eternal Glory which is in Christ Jesus:

Then they are guilty of denying that Salvation is 100 % conditioned on the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. There's no way around that fact. Either Christ's Saving death was only for some, and all of that some are saved, or it was for all without exception, and in some degree Salvation is conditioned upon man, something he must do. Once that element of what man does enters the equation to make Salvation a reality, Salvation is no more 100% conditioned on Christ alone, which Deny's the power of the Gospel !Hence the deadly consequences of denying limited atonement !

Something came to mind reading this. Limited Salvation would be more correct. Let's try to unpack this concept of Christ dying for all the sins of the world. Realize that reprobates who sinned will not be forgiven because they weren't chosen and therefore could not ask. There is a facet of this whole limited atonement that is missing something. Those sins of the unforgiven affected all of us and so God washed them away for us - not them. There power over us was eliminated, yet the power of their sins remain on them. Just a thought.
Imagine their sins like paint splattered on us. Jesus cleans it off, but theirs remains. All sins atoned for - just not all souls cleansed of them.

No, the sins of the non elect arent washed away, they will be udged for them in the day of Judgment Rev 20:12-14

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

I DID NOT say sins of the non-elect were cleansed off them. I said those sins against us were cleansed off us. Or do you still hold grudges for all who have sinned against you? No, we forgive. Forgiveness is just as much beneficial for our own peace as it is for others. So when we let those charges go aren't they washed away equally as if they were our own?

lets keep it real simple .
To be saved ONE MUST BELEIVE ON JESUS THE CHRIST .
Throw the lost that lifeline .
So many argue over predestination and yet cannot see
The PREDESTINED PREDERTMINED TRUTH .
That GOD chose by preaching to save those WHO BELEIVE .
BELEIVE IN JESUS THE CHRIST .
And seeing we also have a problem that many have also come to antoher jesus and thus another god .
One that sure seems to honor lies , sins , even calling g ood evil and evil good . so yeah that one cannot save for it is
NOT OF GOD , OF CHRIST .
There is a real simple solution . For those who cliam to BELEIVE ON CHRIST JESUS
get into those bibles to learn afresh and anew for yourselves .
And get real busy preaching THE DIRE NECESSITY to BELEIVE ON JESUS .
Cause ronald , we got us an WELL favored ECUMIENCAL whore of intefaith and its interfaith interreligisus dialgoue
of anti christs , And the HO aint slowing down the FLO of her false love peace plan and of her lie of anti christ .

I'd have to answer? Why Yes!.........Yes!.....He DID!

But, with only ONE condition! As stated here:
John 3:
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM "SHOULD" NOT perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world THROUGH HIM "MIGHT" be saved.

The words SHOULD in verse 16, and MIGHT in verse 17?
It sure doesn't GUARANTEE "NOT perishing", nor? "NOT being saved" though, does it? :contemplate:

Kind of blows the "Once SAVED?" "ALWAYS Saved" philosophy of some people from the mindset/belief/cult, right out of the water. Doesn't it?

So, it DOES SOUND as IF the "Salvation Issue" ITSELF, is CONDITIONAL!

Of the which? Does executing the "Great Commission" ONLY? Fully satisfy? Or only Partially satisfy the "Should Not" and the "Might be" "Everlasting and Salvation" issue? :contemplate:

WOW!!! I'm blowing my OWN mind here!

This thread IS about "LIMITED Atonement" or, "LIMITED Salvation, or Forgiveness" right?

But, with a simple changing of "Should", to "WOULD", and "Might", to "WILL?"

IMHO, would have that spirit of antichrist dancing with glee!

Jesus death made all men savable, but only the elect receive the atonement. Today too many people confuse propitiation with atonement. Propitiation means the acceptable sacrifice, which Jesus is for all of mankind. but NT atonement means an erasing of sin and that is reserved only for the elect.

Then you believe in a false jesus and gospel
Look! If it is "God's WILL that ALL come to Repentance" "Under the Condition", that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in Jesus Christ of Nazareth? "SHOULD!" not "WOULD" not perish! But have "Everlasting" Life!
So you're saying that EVEN SHOULD (which I'll admit....probably AIN'T gonna happen) ALL believe in Christ Jesus of Nazareth, and satisfy ALL that is NECESSARY for "Everlasting Life?"
What I "hear YOU saying?:
It DON'T MATTER!?????
Believe me young man!
It ain't ME that believes in a false Gospel! :vgood:

Does 1 Cor 15:3 teach particular atonement ?

Yes it does, for it reads that Christ died for our sins according to scripture. Now what scripture ? During that time scripture was the OT, the law and the prophets. Lk 24:44

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Now one of the prominent ways the law of Moses things were written of Him was by types and shadows, and one such very well known to the jews was the Passover. This was only for the jews, a chosen people, which typified the Israel of God. Now the Israel of God is spiritual and is made up of jews and gentile chosen people. Paul writing to the same church wrote earlier 1 Cor 5:7

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Remember the Passover sacrifice was discriminate and particular !

That sounds silly, ridiculous
How silly was the pain caused by someone else's sin against you. You experienced it, it hurt and may times you carries that pain with you for a long time. Did you forgive them immediately? Maybe you held a grudge. Were you laughing because it was silly? Eventually you forgave the sin, right? Jesus says if we do not forgive others He will not forgive us. Their sins against us are forgiven as well "as we forgive those who trespass against us" . So you must agree with that - otherwise you don't forgive others, you're a hypocrite and not really saved.

I understand that they are tied together. John MacArthur said, "Jesus's sacrifice is the "propitiation"—the satisfaction that turns away the wrath of God—which is the very mechanism that makes the "atonement" (our reconciliation) possible".
I just am not an adherent of TULIP. I think Calvin's acronym reached into an area that was really over his head ( and ours); and tried to pack God's Plan, His Grace and foreknowledge into a nice flowery box. Furthermore, my experience with Calvinists is that they were strict, cold, judgmental, often beating people over the head with their Bibles, and often spreading a hell-fire gospel.

The same is typified on the day of atonement, it wasn’t for all the sins of every individual that sacrifice was made, but particularly for the Children of Israel Lev 16:18-21

18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

20
And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

1 Timothy 2

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Hebrews 2:9

But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
