Why can't folks here be considerate of others by sticking to the topic rather than hijacking and destroying threads?

That is usually because of the thread's title.

Some are worth engaging in, others are there to lampoon.

It all depends on the mood of the poster when they post.

I think we might consider there are those who love to disrupt genuine discussions. Because they're otherwise incapable of participating with any degree of intelligence on a topic,or show respect for others who want to stay on topic.

Also,
I wonder about the Ad's. They appear on every post,or thread?
That's a lot of money for retailers to spend in a drawn out thread isn't it?

Matthew where has your fluency in presenting topics come from these days? It looks so much more refined than what I remember just a few years ago.

If, what you are posting was written by others, it would be considerate on your part to acknowledge who they are within your posts.

Know what I mean?

Well, that is certainly the best approach. Perhaps we should all try harder. Most of us have probably experienced the inconsiderate downside of what happens when someone veers off topic, or worse, tries to impose there own pet peeve topic wherever they can stuff it in sideways.

But sooommmetimes, it's perhaps none of that...but God redirecting. As it is written, "A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16:9

Things don't always go as [we] plan. Still, I agree, we should all try to more considerate.

I suppose it depends on how a person views the forum ... some may see it as a friendly conversation which tends to wander into many areas ... others see it as a discussion or debate.

You refer to honest feedback, in response to your request for feedback, as hijacking and destroying a thread.
Wow! I wasn't even looking at it that way--but yeah, that goes on a lot. (Not referring to you @NotTheRock) It is true, some people can't take feedback, or criticism, or correction very well at all. There are two sides to that of course, sometimes it's the ego of the person trying to present a thread topic, and sometimes the ego of the person making waves. In either case, we need to take as step back and examine ourselves. Count to ten (as my mom used to say) before posting--a topic, or a reply.

Oh, and then there are the issues of being bold, rude, harsh, forthright, or getting ugly. All of which is either uncalled for...or gets a pass, like Jesus turning over the tables of the money changers. We should be careful what we say.

What did Jesus say...? It's "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

Some people have an agenda. There's one poster who rails against "interfaith" no matter the thread topic.

I suppose it depends on how a person views the forum ... some may see it as a friendly conversation which tends to wander into many areas ... others see it as a discussion or debate.
I agree with this also. Some carry debates and resentments from one thread to another. We can't talk about X with civility because we disagreed about Y.

Every time I see an image that is supposedly representing Jesus Christ, I note to myself that it is really not Jesus Christ, it is what some person or AI thinks that Jesus might have looked like. Thus, the image is of no value and presents a false view.

I think we know the difference between feedback and intentional derail.

That's a lot of money for retailers to spend in a drawn out thread isn't it?
But what if some and i mean very few , but some
are simply warning and reminding as the SPIRIT simply leads them to do .
Imagine this , if you will .
Imagine sister sally has a wonderous baking event she wants all peoples
to come and to attend . Now the topic is baking .
SO many come and enter into the buiding .
So sally begins to explain in detail her excellent methods for baking .
Now remember the topic is on baking .
So all are busy listning to and heeding sally , even exchaning ideas
about baking .
But one notices something . One is alerted to something .
Smoke is coming down from the roof
but none does care . none seems to notice . and on and on sally and others stay on the TOPIC of cake baking .
More and more smoke enters into the place .
TELL ME should the one seeing the smoke say noth ing . I mean IF he says HEY theres smoke in here
ONE is gonna tell him , HEY SMOKE is not the subject . YET THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE
and if folks dont get alerted THEY ALL GONNA BURN IN THE FIRE .
And now a word . MOST everyone now is infected to some degree with satan and his whore of a harlots
ecum eincal interfaith inclusive god and its plan for unity and peace .
SO NOW ya know why i am often led to say and to do as i am led to say and to do .
I BEEN wathcing folks . And oh yeah many of yous is in dire and deadly danger
of this intefaith ecumenical satan led , whore led , false love led , peace led LIE .
And its only get ting worse and been getting worse .
SO while a certain saying is that which is dead may never die
I SAY to gray joy and to all , THAT which is dead will never truly be made alive as long as it liveth in sin
and follows a lie . WE are in serious and deadly dire danger g ray joy .
And i must do will do and shall by the grace ofGOD DO as i am led to DO .
Good heavens even much of christendom now loveth satan as though HE be GOD
and follows only the love of a harlot who is leadng them all RIGHT TO THE LIE that will damn every last one of them .
SO i will warn , not you , not any can silence my mouth . NO not even threat of death will .
I DO as i do for i love the peoples and THIS HOUSE IS ON FIRE SISTER , its on ecumeincal fire
and its all coming down ON JESUS day . SO i g ots to warn all GET OUT of that ecuemincal house of anti christ intefiath NOW .

But what if for some for a very small few in number
IT is all about that which PLEASES GOD and that which actually helps keep a peoples safe .

It depends on how sensitive the person is who asks for feedback. To give an honest reaction, without lengthy complaining and without any personal insults, is valid.
Sounds like you take ZERO RESPONSIBILITY to speak the truth in love. It's all about how sensitive the other person is, not how horribly lacking the speaker is in speaking gracefully.

Years ago my Pastor warned of those like you. Never tell people to not be so sensitive. The more sensitive they are, the more grace they need.

Another sermon taught us the conditions, the prerequisites to speak truthfully to someone. That is, FIRST we must establish a loving relationship where we have earned their trust. Don't be a theological flasher, flashing your perception of the truth, shocking the audience. Not a good look for a servant of he who is truth and grace.
