I read the prophesy of Isaiah 24:16-23 as the destruction and 70 year captivity that shall befall Jerusalem by the Babylonians because of their great apostasy and sins against the Almighty God.

Perhaps you need to re-evaluate what verse 21-22 is all about and when it will happen.

What you have suggested, happened/will happen, bears no resemblance to what verses 21-23 tells us will happen, or when the timing of verses 21-22 actually will occur and when verse 23 will play out.

In October 2024, HMNZS Manawanui was conducting hydrographic survey operations off Samoa. The ship ran aground on a reef, caught fire, and later sank. All 75 people aboard were safely evacuated, and there were no fatalities. Commander Gray gave the order to abandon ship, a decision that has been credited with saving lives.

Since then, a military court of inquiry found that human error contributed to the loss of the ship. Preliminary findings reported that the bridge team failed to recognize that the autopilot remained engaged, preventing the ship from responding as intended before it struck the reef.

Commander Gray and two other officers have been charged under New Zealand's Armed Forces Discipline Act. Those charges are allegations at this stage, and they have the right to defend themselves in court. These are the facts: She is openly gay. She commanded HMNZS Manawanui. The ship was lost while under her command.

What has not been established yet is that the ship sank because she was gay or because she was a woman. There is no evidence supporting any of those claims. The official investigations have only focused on navigational and operational errors

The question I would ask is was she qualified to be captain. or was she made captain based on DEI although she was not qualified.

We had an incident in Washington DC where a female helicopter pilot, perhaps a DEI promotion, crashed into a passenger airplane...all 67 people died on helicopter and the passenger jet.

You don't believe God, in that the Angel of Death that visited Egypt during Israel's captivity, with Moses and Aaron, destroyed Egypt's first born. Also that Lamb's blood over their doorway protected the children of Israel.

Lamb's blood, the predestined Christ our lord Jesus, the Lamb of God paid the price dearly for our healing, resurrection and also protection from "the destroyer" "Angel of Death".

We now are baptized confessing our sins, have priests lay hands on our heads, praying that we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost comforter of heavenly father, and make covenants with God the Father, Jesus the Christ and Elohim, the Holy Spirit, receiving the bread and wine of Christ in remembrance of him, till he arrives again.

And although God decides who receives what in this earthly life, death or life, prosperity or misery, healing or wounding....

We honor him by staying with the saints, honoring the Christians, hoping those lost at sea, will not procrastinate the day of their repentance. Jesus misses the wayward children throwing away their inheritance foolishly, which is the gift of life from God. He goes after the lost sheep. But the wolves he sends away with tempest and violent oceans, until their willfully destructive souls are sorrowful and desire life from God, no longer seeking sinful lives as sin is death.

I don't believe anyone in this thread has argued that God is unable to judge, protect, or intervene in the affairs of men. Those are separate theological questions. The original discussion was about the loss of HMNZS Manawanui.

This does not conclude that the loss of the vessel was an act of divine judgment.

As Christians, we should be careful not to attribute a specific tragedy to God's judgment unless Scripture itself does so or God has unmistakably revealed it. Jesus cautioned against drawing such conclusions from disasters. Luke 13:1–5.

So, your raised comments do not address the actual question being discussed in this thread.

Yes, your statement that the events in Isaiah 24:21-23 is true, these events have not happened yet.

Verses 21-22a will happen in our near future, and from my research, I have concluded that these two verses will happen around the year 2045 AD, give or take year or two to account for the story telling errors. Rev 16:12-16 points us to when the time of this initial punishment will take place. Jesus in Luke 14:31-32 also spoke of the judgement of the kings of the earth close to Jerusalem and Israel's response to the events of the judgement of the kings of the earth by seeking God's King's conditions for peace. Paul also spoke of this same time period which will arrive at the completion of the 2,300 years of the Little Horn being given armies to trample God's Sanctuary and His earthly hosts and that after the completion of this time, that all of Israel will be saved.

Verses 22b-23, on the other hand is still in the distant future, a further 1,024 years or so after the conclusion of verse 22a. In Rev 19-20 we are told that the judged heavenly hosts' punishment is their dispatchment into the lake of fire.

However, this conversation between us, perhaps, should be continued in another thread.

Hope I didn't come off judgemental, in fact just remembering the Lord's ways and early religion as expressed in the biblical context. He delivered a wonderful religion to his followers. He healed many, raised from the dead many, and cared for the humble, the poor, the widows and ill. He sat with the publicans and sinners as the righteous needed no physician. The Lord was the righteous, innocent and the just one and without sin. He represented heavenly father, and walked his ways, they knew father thru Jesus his son.

The spirit city of Sodom and Egypt is where Jesus was put up, shamed openly, mocked, beaten and crucified, they parted his garments and such. That was a long time ago. Persecution was rampant then. It continues today as the book of Revelation states. They are martyrs for their cause, which is the word of God. They are saints.

I see many great followers of God in history. They obviously desired to live and continue, but their lives were cut short by the works of Satan and those that follow after him.

As it relates to the thread also is the works of Sodom and Egypt, and the troubles of those spiritual cities.

They are in works of cities that rule with slavery tactics as Egypt did, had oppression of Christ's people, treacheries, conspiracies, sexual immoralities, murders, thefts, fears and every manner of problems.

Christ's people sometimes struggle with sinners of God's laws. They are law enforcement, military, rulers, medical staff, fire suppression agencies and many other law abiding and enforcing groups. Defending God's people and their basic human rights in those countries that honor the Christian God. They hope for good works of helping sinners to Christ. Christian governments follow God's laws closely.

Unfortunately some sin is open defiance of God and his laws and people. Not that that is the case with the news post in the article here in this thread. Yet we are careful if a group openly defies God and Christians. As that could and probably means danger for Christians. Christians must then be careful to protect and defend their people.

How it specifically relates to a thread like this is the case of struggling Israel. Often warned by witnesses and prophets of being destroyed. Often in captivity of Egypt, Babylon or ruled by the Roman's and Greek old nations during Jesus's time.

That meant that if Israel did not forsake sinful ways, it was brought hardship. Which sadly is when the poor and needy can be overlooked. God's word twisted and blocked for some others agenda.

It's said she had the ship on autopilot so couldn't steer it. Another video claimed her last order was for all crew members to use the toilet before getting on the lifeboats.

Ya know, looking at the captain's smaller, wood furnished interior of the Royal Naval Vessel, I thought of working on a salmon fishing boat years ago and not much smaller.

The ship that sank was an oceanographic vessel for diving and other operations as I understood it. A science vessel they were using.

Which incidentally is a somewhat different post than a battle fleet group of naval sea power vessels fitted with advanced targetting acquisition laser and radar systems, satellite navigation and rapid munitions deployment meant for warfare operational readiness.

More of a relaxing post I might think would be the science vessel. But older perhaps.
