In Eph 1:13 we are told that a believer who hears, trusts, believes the Gospel taught to Paul by Christ is SEALED with the HS, no other steps are required.
Question:-
Citing verses, how did a believer receive the HS >>B4<< Eph 1:13 ?
...
Eph 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Gal 1:11-12
11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 15:1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Again, thx Lbo but there are even more :-
Acts 8:15-17
15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Act 19:
6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7And all the men were about twelve.
...

With ALL those verses and more, are you seeing a difference between how the HS was received B4 Eph 1:13 compared to now ?

So, with such diversity of Christian experience, why should we assume the Holy Ghost is now received the same way the Ephesians did?

For that matter, if the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased after the apostles, how can we assume that we've received the Holy Spirit at all? My understanding is that Charismatic sects (quite logically) require demonstration of one or more of the Gifts of the Spirit before they will accept someone into fellowship.

Depends on who you think your Christ selected Apostle & Minister is to teach you Salvation
Acts 9:15, Rom 11:13, Rom 15:16, Gal 2:7-9 teaches who mine is and that my saving Gospel today was Gal 1:11-12 UNIQUELY taught to ONLY Paul by Christ and that Gospel by which I AM saved AND HS sealed is 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13

Another variation of the Marcionite heresy.

Sorry, but I do not acknowledge a hermeneutical principle that dismisses 77% of the New Testament as irrelevant. Nor should anyone else.

To help other understand a little better: -

Marcionism or Marcionite Christianity was an early Christian dualistic belief system originating with the teachings of Marcion of Sinope in Rome around 144 CE. Marcion was an early Christian theologian, evangelist, and an important figure in early Christianity. Marcion was born between about 85 and 100 and died around 160. He is reported to have been the son of a bishop of Sinope in Pontus, though nearly all biographical detail about him derives from hostile sources and from a "heretic legend" that later writers extrapolated from his works; Sinope itself first appears as his birthplace in late antique sources. About the middle of the 2nd century (140–155) he travelled to Rome. Irenaeus and other patristic writers present him there as a follower of the Syrian gnostic Cerdo, from whom he is said to have taken the doctrines of the evil creator and the alien good God, but recent scholarship regards the derivation as uncertain and probably unhistorical. Marcion preached that the benevolent God of the Gospel who sent Jesus into the world as the saviour was the true Supreme Being, different and opposed to the malevolent deity, the Demiurge or creator deity, identified with Yahweh in the Hebrew Bible. He considered himself a follower of Paul the Apostle, whom he believed to have been the only true apostle of Jesus.
Marcion's canon, possibly the first Christian biblical canon ever compiled, consisted of eleven books: the Gospel of Marcion, which was a shorter version of the Gospel of Luke, and ten Pauline epistles. Marcion's canon rejected the entire Old Testament, along with all other epistles and gospels of what would become the 27-book canon of the New Testament, which during his life had yet to be compiled.
Marcionism was denounced by its opponents as heresy and written against by the Church Fathers – notably by Tertullian in his five-book treatise Adversus Marcionem (Against Marcion) in about 208. Marcion's writings are lost, though they were widely read and numerous manuscripts must have existed. Even so, many scholars say it is possible to reconstruct a large part of ancient Marcionism through what later critics, especially Tertullian, said concerning Marcion. The movement was widespread, which forced rivalling sects to begin making defences. Marcionites founded Churches across the Roman empire, and their decline is attributed to state intervention by later imperial edicts banning all groups deemed heretical from assembly.

Then stop doing what Paul told you not to do in 1 Corinthians 1:12 and 3:4-7 and learn from ALL the New Testament writers. Otherwise, you're just using Marcion's bible.

I read and believe the teachings of Christ through Paul that apply to me re Salvation and NOT the whole Bible otherwise I'd have to sacrifice animals as well.
