The gospel is all that Jesus taught. It’s not just a portion of what He taught but all of it. It is a call to all men everywhere and it’s on two levels, to call the wicked to righteousness and the righteous to holiness. They say it can be called “the good news” and that good news is that He doesn’t want anyone to die and has made an escape from a bad judgement - on both levels.
I hope you agree that Christ, He Himself, is the foundation of our faith...? "Christ IN me, the hope of glory"....? This is the only core thing that distinguishes the true faith from Christian "religion", and all other religions and belief systems of the world for that matter. HE Himself comes to dwell IN us by His Spirit through faith that is not of our own, and by no other way.

Rom 10:6

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) (now my brackets here....in other words it is not Christ outside of us somewhere)

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
(then it goes on to say if believe in your heart and confess with your mouth and you will be saved)

This is the foundation and what we are building upon and from......we must not be moved from it. It is not a mere "sample" but SO MUCH MORE....because it is nothing less than Christ Himself in us. We couldn't even begin to put the first layer of bricks down for the temple much less build up the walls and put the roof on, without that foundation. It all has to come from Him, from the foundation....we are growing up FROM it/Him.

It is "deep calling unto deep" and the "fountains of the great deep" breaking forth. The foundation is deep in our ground. God showed it to me once in a brief vision, the fullness springing up from what we were already given.

Anyway, hope you agree with these things.

That "you" is in the plural. So not only does Christ indwell individually, He also indwells us corporately. His eternal purpose is to create a temple of living stones and pour the totality of His glory into. Each of us is a small part of that. It's not all about the "me"...it's also about he "we"

As to the first - the verse is not saying to save some by causing them fear and save others by showing them mercy, so you have not understood it as you use it to comfort your flesh so you use it in a bad way.
The fear spoken of is on the the part of the one trying to snatch someone out of the fire.
That doesn't nullify the other meaning........and it is borne out in life. The Lord ministers what He knows each soul needs at any given time.

Of course, but we are just talking about personal growth right now and Christ in us personally. Do you agree with my post? Is that how you see the foundation?

Christ IS the chief cornerstone, not only of our faith, but the living temple as well. It's just I think you see more of the "me me me" and not enough of the we. I am sure you will come back with all kinds of justification for that but it's just my take on it.

Well...whether it is Christ in me or you or them.............it is still why He IN anyone is the hope of glory. This is nothing less than the mystery of God that was hid from the foundation of the world in ages past. It is the gospel, the core and foundation of it. Do you agree/disagree?

The mystery is that God will reveal His manifold wisdom through the church. THAT is His eternal purpose. God will reveal all His power, glory and wisdom through the church and forever abolish any possibility of future rebellion by His free will creations. Of course, He has to let the "fullness of iniquity" be fully manifested first. This is to show, forever, to all future generations and creations, the absolute horror of rebellion against Him. THIS is why He currently allows very bad things to happen to the innocent and those He has redeemed.

Eph 3:9-11
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

There’s always a “yes but God also.” Thank God.
ProDeo sees the “yes, but.” Thats a GOOD thing to see them both. That’s what he did earlier when he gave TWO sets of verses and said episkopos teaches and focuses on only one set and therefore teaches false and scares people 24/7. (It’s not true that he teaches only one. Episkopos teaches both and uses an equal weight and divides correctly but to men struggling to work out their salvation with fear in the outer man, the one set looms large and stands out, as it should. That IS the struggle.)

He only makes a mistake by saying the one set is the core gospel message. They both are or there is not a necessary balance needed to progress and find the way.

More about the base, I am reading the book The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee once again. The last time I did was in the late 70's when I was a babe in Christ. Finished reading the first chapter, the man is good and thorough! What impressed me most -

What then of our attitude to Satan? This is important, for he accuses us not only before God
but in our own conscience also. ‘You have sinned, and you keep on sinning. You are weak, and
God can have nothing more to do with you.’ This is his argument. And our temptation is to look
within and in self-defense to try to find in ourselves, in our feelings or our behavior, some ground
for believing that Satan is wrong. Alternatively we are tempted to admit our helplessness and, going
to the other extreme, to yield to depression and despair. Thus accusation becomes one of the greatest
and most effective of Satan’s weapons. He points to our sins and seeks to charge us with them
before God, and if we accept his accusations we go down immediately.

Now the reason why we so readily accept his accusations is that we are still hoping to have
some righteousness of our own. The ground of our expectation is wrong. Satan has succeeded in
making us look in the wrong direction. Thereby he wins his point, rendering us ineffective. But if
we have learned to put no confidence in the flesh, we shall not wonder if we sin, for the very nature
of the flesh is to sin. Do you understand what I mean?

It is because we have not come to appreciate
our true nature and to see how helpless we are that we still have some expectation in ourselves,
with the result that, when Satan comes along and accuses us, we go down under it.
God is well able to deal with our sins; but He cannot deal with a man under accusation, because
such a man is not trusting in the Blood. The Blood speaks in his favour, but his is listening instead
to Satan. Christ is our Advocate but we, the accused, side with the accuser. We have not recognized
that we are unworthy of anything but death; that, as we shall shortly see, we are only fit to be
crucified anyway. We have not recognized that it is God alone that can answer the accuser, and

that in the precious Blood He has already done so.

Our salvation lies in looking away to the Lord Jesus and in seeing that the Blood of the Lamb
has met the whole situation created by our sins and has answered it. That is the sure foundation on
which we stand.

Never should we try to answer Satan with our good conduct but always with the
Blood. Yes, we are sinful, but, praise God! the Blood cleanses us from every sin. God looks upon
the Blood whereby His Son has met the charge, and Satan has no more ground of attack. Our faith
in the precious Blood and our refusal to be moved from that position can alone silence his charges
and put him to flight (Romans 8:33,34); and so it will be, right on to the end (Revelation 12:11).
Oh, what an emancipation it would be if we saw more of the value of God’s eyes of the precious
Blood of His dear Son!

Yes, I agree. But I'm just talking on a personal individual level for the moment. And this whole topic of holiness is on a personal level.

Christ IN us is the hope of glory....THAT (He in us) is the foundation from where we may attain to glory. And this is also why it says if we have this hope IN us we purify ourselves. It is a good reminder, do you not agree? I find it strengthening. Lest we stray from that foundation....that wouldn't be good because we utterly need it. And that way God/Christ is glorified.

Amen...someone posted this a little while back if memory serves, but it fits very well with what you are bringing here too:

Rom 8:33-34

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;

who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

We don't want to lose sight of this.

Well, the bibe says "some save by fear, others with compassion". And it says "the kindness of the Lord leads to repentance". I think only the Lord knows what each soul needs at any given time. And when anyone comes to faith in Christ our soul is flooded with love, at least that was my experience.

There are things that pertain to growth, but what do you believe is the core foundation of the gospel?
I will only add a KNOW to that think . THE LORD DO KNOW exactly what each soul needs at any given time .
As for the core foundation of the gopsel . ITS FAITH IN JESUS and if one has faith in HIM they had beleived HIS words .
To them trenches sister . Many now desire to beleive in and preach another gospel . ONLY THERE IS NO OTHER GOSPEL .

At it's core, the foundation of the gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) which is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16) To BELIEVE the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. ✝️
True . but what if i told you that many who do claim to beleive that gospel now also beleive in another gospel .
Cause it cant be both . sorry but i must again remind us mr dan of the mail that interfaith is of anti christ .
And we cant be giving passes to the false religoins as if THEY do not need to repent and to beleive .
Not only that but since i am on this subject
IF one can lip the gopsel verbatum but then follows a sin accepting jesus . sorry but their faith is dead
its lip only and their heart be so very , so very very far from the ONE TRUE CHRIST .
Folks cant stand me dan . i know that . but remember IT WAS JESUS and HIS WORDs i pointed too . yea remember THAT .

Not that I don't deeply appreciate the training I have received from the Lord. It's just that when I compare that with what people teach as doctrine...I almost despair. How can there be such a gap between what God teaches by the Spirit and what has become the common beliefs of so many?
As you said somewhere, knowledge increases sorrow. I’ve gone through some of that when I began to see how my whole family clung to illusion and a solidarity IN that illusion that would attack anyone who told the truth about them not living in reality or who pointed out an illusion. It comes to despair because you can’t make them see, their fear and anxiety at the thought that they might be living a lie and pretending is too great.

I still have had uplifting exchange here, DESPITE all the shrieking flesh in attendance. I’m grateful. I lived so long without brotherly encouragement that one true morsel is like a 5 course meal to me. Everything that has gone on in here, even the unpleasant, has helped me and sharpened discernment to see that all I learned over years with my birth family applies here too.

Edit: that’s in response to your post about having more uplifting exchange, episkopos. I failed to quote.

Christ is the chief cornerstone IN you......IN all who believe, who have received Him........Christ IN you the hope of glory......and he who has this hope IN him purifies himself, even as He (Christ) is pure. This is the foundation of the faith, of the gospel. Our starting point. Who here can say amen (witness) to that? @Episkopos @Laurina @shepherdsword @MostlyConfused Do you agree? Can I hear an amen, or would you like to discuss?

What do you consider to be an illusion sister? Is Christ IN us an illusion? And is faith an illusion? Or what is the illusion you are seeing?
