We need to lower the estrogen levels here. You are not quoting what I said...you are reading it with a propensity for drama.

Did I mention that the churches are WAY too feminized today? Women don't know their place anymore. (That should get the estrogen going) :hmhehm

Not biting.

Feminism has caused a lot of the downfall of society, but that is another matter.

We are talking about preconverted David and you seem to imply he was a typical man. What!!

A typical man drunk with power and with God's favour. What do they say about both power and favour? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And favour (grace) is deceitful.

People aren't usually that exposed until they run onto the truth.

You are misinterpretimg me. I know that David was a baddie, entirely. Plenty of heithens in positions of power do not sink that low.

Maybe start a thread entitled "why I hate David. or "Why God got this one wrong"

Wow epi you have revealed a lot there.

He was not a deeply devoted man but a selfish, promiscuous, manipulative, coniving, cruel, lying, evil person.

Any man can be saved though if he turns from his sins and repents.
I think he meant that DAVID considered it to be of lesser importance…not that God did.

I think women in general don't understand men, and that a man can be more than one thing at the same time. All God has to do is to cut off that other"thing" and you have a better man. I think men have a better grasp of what it means to be circumcised whereby that other thing is cut off.

The churches of today are WAYYYYY too feminized...and men have also been feminized. Just look at all the snowflakes and wilting flowers here that purport to be men of God. It is shameful.

David was a man after God's heart no matter what any woman (or feminized man) says... :dusted:
They confuse righteousness with holiness because they don’t understand righteousness is not holiness and that righteous men can (and do) stumble, crash, wreck, fall, become arrogant after blessings. They seem to have in mind that a righteous man cant stumble, (and even BADLY) and get back up.
David has his entire life recorded for our benefit and if any of our lives and every stumble were recorded, we would be so horrified we Couldn’t show our face, let alone condemn David.

Not everyone to whom God shows mercy is teachable...as we see right here on the forum.

:funlaugh2

Pot kettle as best.

And it's easy to look down on the failures of those who have been sorely tested.

Which is your excellent BTW.

Are you having a bad day ?

Even playing the woman card as if they are not entitled to have an own opinion.

Paul rightly denounced what he had done and was rightly ashamed and thought he was the worst of men.. That's a bit different to saying he got a bit confused.
This is what David did after Nathan spoke to him: David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground. The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them.
Refused to eat anything, slept on the ground like a dog, pleaded with God.
Is that not enough for you?

You actually sound LIKE David when he became angry over the story Nathan told him until he was told the story was ABOUT him…

I wonder...out all of the people who have posted in this thread, how many have watched the video?

Well I just have.

We must compare this with what was taught in the early church. I do not mean the part (majority it seems) that had compromised with the state and were not walking in the 'higher walk' as epi puts it.

I am talking about the spirituality that was taught then, by those considered saints.

They said that there are three stages:

Purification
Illumination
Deification.

Those in stage 1 are learning that they have fallen from their first love and God is humbling them through various means. Some call it the dark night of the soul as it is very difficult to go through if we want to progress in our walk to the highest level.

The 3rd stage is when God blesses the person and lifts them up to the level of grace where they are fully united with God and are without sin in this life not the next.

The stage in between is one where one knows the truth about no such thing as gradual sanctification, has been enlightened and can now decide whether to sin or not. They are in control of deliberate sin but not unintentional sin, and wish to go on to perfection, if they have not seared their consciences. Many in the holiness movement got stuck in this stage.

Epi calls this stage righteousness. I am coming round to it but still have one or two doublts, but the important thing is that the flesh still has control over them.

We cannot ignore what the disciples of the apostles taught even though there was so muc error around. They also spoke the same language and understood the culture. One of the clearest teachers was Maximus the Confessor. If we deviate we are not teaching the gospel.

The gospel is so simple that a child can understand it - obey what God is telling you inside but I find epi's version to be complicated.

@Hepzibah

"And forgive us OUR trespasses AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us."

We ALL each have our "training" time before God. David was a king and had MORE responsibilities than most. The way I look at this is:
(John 8:7)
"...He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone..."

In the bigger picture, I believe that God had this all in His hand and Urias was in God’s care. He has a place with God because of his faithfulness to his king.

Luke 16:10
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."

Judge not, lest you be judged.

The righteous fall (basically crash and burn) 7 times but they get back up again. Like that song called tub-thumping.

I mean it's ok for you to hurl insults like "false teacher" and "childish" but condemn those you judge when they respond.
I'll put my words alongside epi's any day, and just see if you don't see a difference.

To you I'm as a Pharisee, I'd even condemn John the Baptist!

So sad!

Much love!
