Price of fuel has surged to $1.93 AUD per liter after reaching a low of $1.45 just a few weeks ago.

Our government halved their tax on fuel when the war started and its ending tonight. This means the price of our fuel will go up about 20c per litre.

Before the war the price was as low as $1.50 per liter. When the war started I knew it would never go back down to that.

I can remember back when I was in high school in 2002 cost of gas was like $1.30/gallon, it is way higher now.

I figured it would be cheaper in South Florida, being so close to port everglades and all. I am in landlocked Tn and it's cheaper here. ( I lived in Broward county for almost 40 years)

I remember..gasoline price in 1976..

Around 4.05 - 4.09 a gallon regular.
I was wondering why Maine's gas prices are higher than Florida's :

Gasoline prices in Maine are consistently higher than in Florida due to a combination of transportation costs, limited competition, seasonal demand, and higher state fuel taxes.

Maine’s state gas tax is about 31.4¢ per gallon, which is above the national average.

It would be nice if the states put a moratorium on gas taxes, but that would be like asking the cookie monster to share his chocolate chips.

Florida is closer to refineries so less transportation costs versus us forest hermits who live in the uncivilized jungle.
And we have lots of seasonal visitors who love to come to Vacationland, so we have to rob them at the pump when they get here.
And of course because Maine is mostly rural, we are so spread out that traveling to the closest gas station is like going on an adventure.

I'm glad I don't drive anymore. I get to sit back in my recliner and watch the world turn.

2 Main water lines broke in the center of the city a week ago last Thursday.
Watching the City Council meeting on YT, it wasn't until Monday that the people from the waterworks dept said they might be able to get to it the Thursday that just passed 2 days ago.
So from Thursday to ..... Down town had no water. I think they were able to stop it Tuesday but people were being informed to boil their water. This is the Hospital, Restaurants, Businesses, and Households.
I have a water pump. I use well water. Pressure is a little low and not sure why.
It's been raining a lot and they say we are in a draught.

I think I will turn in my recliner for a rocking chair, somebody has to keep moving.

The + cents fluctuates weekly, per day and area…per station…per - cash or + credit purchase.

Energy fuel sources for us varies;
Gas, diesel, elec, propane, charcoal, wood…
For regular use highway vehicles and usual use 10 + / multiple implements / and various multiple large and small appliances.

We do a usual balancing act, between energy supply costs, weather effects and pre-stock on hand supply.

Life of “conveniences / necessities” can be “costly”, “unexpected”, or relatively “prepared” uninterrupted.

I just filled up my propane tanks 2 weeks ago. I think it was like $300 to fill up 2 tanks for the mobile and 2 tanks for the garage. The water pump is in the garage so can't let that freeze in the winter. small gas furnace keeps the chill off. It gets cold up here in the winter.
The propane for the mobile is for the furnace and the stove. So unless it gets below 78 in the house and I don't use the oven too much lol, that should last until, well, I would say November but it depends on when the cold weather kicks in. Could last until January.
Electric hasn't been too bad, about 150 a month covers the mobile and garage.
I don't use a lot of appliances. Fridge, hot water heater, electric water pump.
But if the electric goes out I lose the furnace too because it has an electric fan that blows the heat. No fan, no heat. So the stove is my back up until the lights come on. Not the best heating source but at least you won't freeze.

We might have a couple hiccups though, we just entered into a trade war with Canada and they supply a lot of the electric that comes into northern states. So, look, we don't control the cost of oil. That's a market thing and it was OPEC that set the prices. But even OPEC is undergoing changes right now, so everything is fluctuating.
Just prepare the best you can, conserve where you can, and don't go on 100 mile joy rides with your friends everyday.
Walk or get out your dusty bike and take it to the local store. Hire a kid to go the store lol.
I used to do that when I was younger.
The world is different today, I know I know.

But complaining about stuff isn't going to make things better. They will get better, just have to be patient.
Have a plan.

Exactly. Know your locality, it’s possibilities, and address the Preparedness…for weather extremes, shortages, outages, safe harbor, etc.

Here we have weather extremes…110* to 0*… and the ideal to stay cool or be warm.
Aside from the T-storms…When a hurricane hits the coast… the winds, rains, crazy affect into the mainland, and flooding is flash.
And knowing grocery stores have on hand enough stock for a couple of days…and at the alarm of a hurricane, shelves will be bare within hours. (A creepy sight).
We built our buildings all on highland, and have Deep hollows that capture the rain, so don’t worry about flooding.
No junk laying around to fly in the Wind. And have precautions for us and animals ( food / water ) for tornados, happenstance, etc. )
Every trip to town, while not often, is planned to load up on everything from staples to hay to whatever.
We do run 3 refrigerators and two stand alone freezers … so have precautions for outages.
And ofcourse the wild pigs with no license or season to kill. Thankfully have Never been that unprepared or hungry!
An advantge of rural areas is, the diverse wild plants, and theirs uses for everything from teas, Leaves consumption to medical reliefs, pain, rashes, etc. Drugs /prescription or otherwise we take none. Cuts… who doesn’t have duct tape…lol.
It falls between interest, discovery, and effort willingness.
