You’re an ex-Christian. This thread may be about you.

You need Jesus and he wants you. What is keeping you apart?

@Mancunian I dreamed about the prodigal son last night. Over and over again it started and stopped. I didn’t see you in the dream. I awoke thinking that Jesus wants you to see yourself in the dream.

Thank you for that wonderful compliment. You really made my day.

AI Overview -

“The messianic dream Is the enduring religious hope for a future Messianic Age on Earth marked by universal peace, justice, and the elimination of all suffering and evil.

Core Concepts of the Dream

• A Perfected World:
The vision looks forward to a time when nations turn away from war and cruelty to embrace harmony and truth.

• Divine Recognition: Humanity will share a common understanding and acknowledgment of the Creator.

• Repairing Flaws:
Believers view this future era as the ultimate repair of all the brokenness in human history.

• The Moshiach: Judaism teaches that the messiah will be a human leader and an anointed king from the lineage of King David.

• National Restoration: This leader will gather Jewish exiles back to Israel and rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem.

• Awaiting Fulfillment: Because universal peace and the knowledge of God are not yet fully realized, Judaism holds that the true messianic age has not yet arrived.

The Christian Perspective: Christianity views the messianic prophecies as centered on Jesus Christ.

• Two Advents: Christian theology explains that Jesus arrived first as a suffering servant to atone for sin, and will return in power as a victorious king to establish his earthly kingdom.”

Jesus and the apostles taught and lived the messianic dream in a world that is perishing. I’m teaching and living the messianic dream in a world that is perishing.

Maranatha
BUT

YES

MARANATHA !!

And not before.

An incomplete creation? Where does it say this in the bible?
Why question it Riven?
Isn't it wonderful?
One day we will be creating planets right alongside God.
Talk about being creative.

BTW,,,,I wonder if @Mathias knows that ONLY GOD can CREATE.

I'll be he knows this but meant something else.
Let's wait and see.

I’d like to wait and see what our newbie Christian has to say about that.

If Mars is colonized will those people miss the rapture?

Interestingly I had a very strange dream last night...
I was standing on a cliff edge looking out to sea, the sea wasn't water though it was fabric??
I'd probably eaten too much cheese before bedtime.

I don’t think Mars will be colonized. Surprise! Mars is colonized. Okay. I was wrong. Now what?

The rapture is an earth event, not a Mars event.

What does scripture say about the rapture in connection with man living on Mars (or other planets)? Nothing.

That leaves me / us with two alternatives:

1. Remain silent where scripture is silent; or
2. Go back to “I don’t think Mars will be colonized.”

There’s nothing wrong with option 1, and option 2 is still in play today.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

1. Man is discussing colonizing Mars in the near future -> tower of Babylon; God doesn’t allow it.

2. Does this have any bearing on how close we are to Jesus returning? Maybe.

What do you think?

Do you see even the remote possibility of the story of the prodigal son being relevant to yourself?

Yes I do in some ways.

I do too. If you didn’t I would have to change my approach with you.

You obviously love your children deeply.

The Bible holds out the promise of life in the age to come to you; life without end - immortal life.

What promise does evolution hold out to you? Extinction.

Are you a pastor by any chance?

Now you know that I am, and now I know that you are a lost sheep.

Proverbs 24:11-12 is weighing heavily on my spirit. Will you look up the passage if you don’t recall what it says?

I liken the promise of life without end to taking out an insurance policy without reading the small print.
How could anybody possibly know what life without end would be like?
I wonder if life without end would become so monotonous that maybe 200 years into it you'd have regret, knowing that the situation that you find yourself in is irreversible and have millions upon millions of years to endure.

To God a day is as 1,000 years.
or V V.
Yes.
Forever is not within our mental wiring.

God knows what it will be like. You used to know and believe that.

It would be if there was nothing to do. There will be something for God and for the followers of Jesus to do. The Church of England may not have been clear on what that is. What were you told by their clergy?

Wouldn’t you like to love and work with your children forever? Is extinction more attractive to you than that?

What about life with no beginning? God has lived forever and I don’t think he is bored

Pro 24:11 - If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death,and those that are ready to be slain;
Pro 24:12 - If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to everyman according to his works?

It’s a little difficult to see how this applies

It might be easier to see if a different translation is used. If I knew which translation @Mancunian prefers, I would quote it using that translation.

Pro 24:11 - Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die;
save them as they stagger to their death.
Pro 24:12 - Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

Nice translation for we modern folk.
BUT
