I don't believe in the story of Adam and Eve so it does matter.
If they never existed then there's nothing to be saved from.

Jesus and the apostles believed they existed.

Human beings sin against the God whom you don’t believe exists. We need rescuing from him, by him.

What good things do bad men achieve?
They destroy other bad men. They protect the righteous. Sometimes they even are used to chasten the elect:

Isaiah 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but [it is] in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

When I mentioned the story about the football coaches I wasn't saying that Genesis is inaccurate or that I believe in the framework view, I was just giving an example of what some people believe.

I believe in the story of Adam and Eve.

If Jesus and the apostles didn’t then Jesus’ genealogy wouldn’t be included in Matthew and Luke. It’s critical for the establishment of him being the promised and prophesied Messiah.

Ok, in that case who was truthful to Eve, God or the serpent?

I just spit out the food I was chewing. (That’s what I was laughing about.)

You don’t think either one of them were truthful to Eve because … none of them existed.

There's an argument among textual critics that the genealogies in Matthew and Luke weren't original to the gospels, but added later.

You offered us two choices. Right?

On the one hand we have God, who cannot lie.

On the other hand we have the devil, the father of lies.
God told Eve that she would "die in the day" if she ate from the tree of knowledge.

The serpent told Eve that she "surely wouldn't die."

God didn’t lie. The devil lied. You can’t work it out and won’t be persuaded when it is worked out for you.

Why are you asking the question?

You know which side of their argument I’m on.
Yeah I think we disagree on this one.

The genealogies are problematic, and not only for the fact they don't agree with each other. They also disagree with doctrine throughout the rest of the New Testament.
