You're reading too much into what he said. Standing for the truth, and standing against abuse of people groups (racism) doesn't mean one has to agree with their philosophies or beliefs. It just means we don't believe it's our right to hate or kill people based on their race or beliefs. Jesus sat with publicans and sinners, but He was still the Christ ....he didn't agree with or become them in order to love them.
