""Even now are many antichrists deceiving many""Even now are many antichrists deceiving many. But there will be tribulation when the last major one begins to rule....that will involve the strong delusion I believe.
Thx BL & thumbs up for using the KJV“3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: ”
2 Thessalonians 2:3-8 KJV
I don't pin entire theological positions on just one verse. The entire chapter is significant, and if you aren't reading verse one in context of the rest of the chapter, you will miss what Paul was talking about. I see no mention of the tribulation.
Lizbeth, It depends through which paradigm one understands these texts. If one understands them independently of the God revealed in Jesus one will draw the conclusion that proactive punishment is in the tubes for certain ones...even the worst form of punishment.I would point out that there are also those who suffer PTSD because of the sins of others. But yes, there is suffering in this world as well, which serves as a type/shadow and warning of what can come to those who reject Christ. For His suffering people, judgment is beginning with His house, that we not be judged with the world when that day comes.
But what does this below mean to you? I hope nobody "wants" to see anyone suffer, however in spite of our (and God) not "wanting" it, God's word does indicate that it is going to happen:
2Th 1:7-10
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Rom 9:21-23
Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
What if God, willing to shew (reveal) his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
And that he might make known (reveal) the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Seems to be two sides to His character....one is mercy the other is wrath.
Let us not allow this thread to devolve into an the argument over pre-trib, rapture, etc etc.and that man of sin be revealed,""
Pre-trib debunked if that happens B4 the rapture.
I would point out to you that the church has been greatly deceived for nearly 2000 years. The small remnant that rejected the popular theology of the time went into the wilderness, and from there sent missionaries and witnesses into the nations dominated by the apostasy. There, when caught, they were persecuted and executed for the sake of Christ. That was a time of tribulation. Not the last days tribulation of course, but tribulation nevertheless for those true Christians who were rounded up and burnt at the stake for practising their faith contrary to the dominant culture.""So deceptive, that if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived.""
2 Thess 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
..
All those things to occur in the TRIBULATION but not 'today'
""Let us not allow this thread to devolve into an the argument over pre-trib, rapture, etc etc.""Let us not allow this thread to devolve into an the argument over pre-trib, rapture, etc etc.
This thread is about how the church in general is reacting to and responding to the prevalence of sin and open licentiousness at every level of society, including the church itself. You said...

Today, I perceive a repeat of this. And it possesses the same philosophy as attended the church of the dark ages, a union of church and state whereby the state is used as the vessel for promoting and enforcing church doctrine in order to combat the "non Christian" ungodly "infidels" that dare to legislate law according to their own lifestyle. Where is God in all of this? He is cast aside, rejected as being powerless to create the kingdom of heaven on earth without government help. (Maybe because God has no intention of building an earthly kingdom?) The church is tanking, embracing apostasy rather than getting down on their knees and accepting responsibility themselves for the sins of their generation.
It is written that judgment begins in the house of God. The church. Why is this so? Could it be that God leaves the church alone once it sets itself on a foreign path to give it opportunity to repent? If God has left the building, and the world around sinks into chaos, then why appeal to Caesar for salvation? Trump? The UN? The WCC? MAGA?
“And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. ”
1 Samuel 8:7 KJV
Well, as far as the rapture is concerned, until recently there was no such thing as a rapture being taught. Until the 19th century, everyone was in agreement that what the church awaited was the resurrection. I'll run with that. Rapture theory and its timing isn't a hill worth fighting for. There are far greater mountains to climb and issues to be discussed.""Let us not allow this thread to devolve into an the argument over pre-trib, rapture, etc etc.""
""I would point out to you that the church has been greatly deceived for nearly 2000 years""
C/- false/incorrect teaching eg rapture timing etc
Right. So the consequence of sin is death, if you wish, though I believe with all my heart that we ought to give the Lord our GOD the glory and fear that is due Him. We have the story Jesus told about the rich man living selfishly, and Lazarus, and how the rich man was in torment after he died, and poor Lazarus after he died went to be where righteous Abraham was, in paradise.Lizbeth, It depends through which paradigm one understands these texts. If one understands them independently of the God revealed in Jesus one will draw the conclusion that proactive punishment is in the tubes for certain ones...even the worst form of punishment.
If it is understood through the paradigm of the good news, the one Jesus modelled and summarised in his attitude towards his executionsers, 'Father forgive them, they know not what they do', then we get a totally different view.
It behooves us to understand what the word 'wrath' in the context it is used means.
Roman 1 defines God's wrath as a consequence..... like PTSD is a consequence not an arbitrary infliction.
The dead in Christ will be resurrected........but there is still the matter of "we who are alive and remain" at that time. The Lord will not visit His wrath upon the righteous who know Him.Well, as far as the rapture is concerned, until recently there was no such thing as a rapture being taught. yet nigh the end its moves very quickly .The falling away of the Church, is far far far slower than men expect.

And there is still the outstanding issue of God's wrath to be revealed in the end, as His mercy was revealed with Christ's first coming.
Rev 6:12-17
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
This passage makes me think of multiple asteroids hitting the earth, causing massive earthquakes and the planet breaking up and even being knocked out of its orbit......"reeling to and fro like a cottage" in an earthquake or whirlwind......absolutely horrific and terrifying, resulting in all life being obliterated.
One thing sister, is when the apostles asked Jesus what will be the sign or your coming, the very first thing Jesus said in answer was to watch out for those who say in His name that they are Christ. I have already seen two or three people say this, quite a long time ago, who were following a new agey kind of Christianity.....so I believe this is one thing to be aware of.Do you agree that there will be a new deception and what will it be? When I say new I mean the revival of one not seen for a while as there is nothing new under the sun
We are to be humans united with Christ, as was shown when Jesus was conceived, man united with the Almighty. This is to restore us to what we should have been in Adam - innocent then becoming united as we feed from the tree of life.
GOD is not man that he can lie .Right. So the consequence of sin is death, if you wish, though I believe with all my heart that we ought to give the Lord our GOD the glory and fear that is due Him. bingo . And now there are massive amounts of them and tons of them are even cloaked in wool as well .One thing sister, is when the apostles asked Jesus what will be the sign or your coming, the very first thing Jesus said in answer was to watch out for those who say in His name that they are Christ. Sister its now getting so bad that even those who preach the dire need to beleive on JESUSOne thing sister, is when the apostles asked Jesus what will be the sign or your coming, the very first thing Jesus said in answer was to watch out for those who say in His name that they are Christ. And what pleases GOD . What pleases GOD so muchThe dead in Christ will be resurrected........but there is still the matter of "we who are alive and remain" at that time. The Lord will not visit His wrath upon the righteous who know Him.
@amigo de christoAnd what pleases GOD . What pleases GOD so much
that WITHOUT it you just cannot please GOD .
FAITH .
something HIC and scores of others KNOW NOT .
TO SIM PLY as a child BELEIVE HIM . GOD , THUS HIS CHRIST , thus HIS words , his gospel .
Simple to a child born again of GOD whose faith was IN JESUS
but very offensive and very burdensome , and very complicated and confusing
unto those whose FAITH BE NOT IN HIM . they always twisting things sister . rather than BELIEVING
THE TRUTH they twist the truth .
FAITH . without faith , THERE IS NO PLEASING GOD .

It is true that the condemned are end up in the lake of fire, but what many people get very wrong, is that in the lake of fire they eventually die. The wages of sin is ultimately death. The time comes to all of them, including Satan himself, where the pain will cease and all conciousness will be expunged.GOD is not man that he can lie .
And was it not said and was it not recorded
That ALL unbeleivers , abominable , etc , that all who made and loved A LIE
would have his or her part IN THE LAKE OF F IRE .
Yet be aware for there are many other spirits at work today and use men
to LIE to this people . And its love and its harlot says
THEY will not perish , the unbeliever will not face the lake of fire
and what is abominable to GOD is no longer abominable to him as THEY HOLD rainbows .
And the gospel of YE must beleive has been replaced
with HEY ALL religoins are serving the same GOD a christain does in different ways .
SAY WHAT . AINT NO WAY that is coming FROM GOD .
GOD testifies TRUTH , the SPIRIT Testifies truth , and thus GOD TESTIFIED ON THE SON ,
not some diverse many way to him anti christ lie . the devil has done this sister .
AND no marvel for he sure can appear as an angel of LIGHT . THOUGH HE bE of the darkness .
And no marvel that satan , his harlot , his co workers
can all SAY GOD IS LOVE . and yet by that constant chant GOD IS LOVE
they lead and have led this people INTO GREAT REBELLION against GOD .
THEIR LOVE DONT LOVE THE TRUTH sister , IT LOVES A LIE and it does embrace sins and even a false gospel now .
THAT AIN COMING FROM GOD . That is coming only from HE who has always desired to be as GOD
and has always desired ONLY DEATH for humanity . ITS WHY he sells his lie as though it is the love of GOD .
This is a story for the purpose of the punchline. It is not a story for the purpose of establishing a theology of where the dead go.Right. So the consequence of sin is death, if you wish, though I believe with all my heart that we ought to give the Lord our GOD the glory and fear that is due Him. We have the story Jesus told about the rich man living selfishly, and Lazarus, and how the rich man was in torment after he died, and poor Lazarus after he died went to be where righteous Abraham was, in paradise.
As for this above, it must be understood in the light of the definition of God's wrath in Romans 1.And there is still the outstanding issue of God's wrath to be revealed in the end, as His mercy was revealed with Christ's first coming.
