Greetings Everyone, I'm Chaplain James, I came to know Jesus Christ, early in my life. My mom taught me to read prior to entering school. She gave me a Bible and taught me the rudiments of prayer, as the Bible instructs us. I attended church weekly, read the Bible and prayed daily. I'm very thankful that my mom taught me the things of God. I prayed frequently, because my home life was very toxic due to my father's alcoholism. Team sports and lifting weights aided me in attempting to keep squared away with the issues at home. Unfortunately, I became an alcoholic at the age of sixteen. I stopped praying and reading the Bible. I depended on alcohol instead of God. My alcoholic drinking continued until the age of twenty six years old. On a night in August of 1983, God set me free from alcoholism in my cockroach infested apartment.

I'm so very thankful to Jesus, for the miraculous gift of salvation, through His shed blood, His death and His resurrection of Jesus Christ!

May Everyone at Christianity board, Be Mightily blessed in Jesus's Name!

Welcome my friend. I look forward to many great conversations with you about a whole host of things. From that August night in 1983, what was your journey in becoming a Chaplain?

I'm not so used to the term, only hearing it applied to those in the military. Are you in the military?

No, I'm not in the military. I worked as an addiction counselor at various treatment centers for a few decades. I was in attendance at a Bible study several years ago. A Brother In Christ, after the Bible study, asked me if I would like to start the process of becoming a Chaplain at a local county jail. After six months of training, I was deemed ready to preach and teach the Bible to the inmates. Because of previous counseling experience the jail allowed me to counsel individual inmates once a week. The covid experience shut down all Chaplains coming to the jail facility. I received further Chaplain training after the jail Chaplaincy experience.

Welcome, Chaplain James, and thank you for sharing such an honest testimony. A mother who taught Scripture and prayer planted seeds that bore fruit years later. Freedom from alcohol since 1983 is a powerful witness, and helping others find that same freedom matters deeply. Glad you are here.
