This is at the other end of the aqueduct near the Upper Yarra dam past Warburton, I'm in Ferny Creek at the moment, but I got a block of land in McMahons Creek, we got a house in East Warby too, we're only renting in Ferny Creek though
I have only been in Oz 18 months. Haven't been into the Dandenongs yet, but has been near the top of the list of things to do. Going as far as the Yarra ranges would be I think an overnighter. My wife and I though so far our excursions have been in the other direction...Philip Is and Woolamai. We're beach freaks. We came from the bush in NZ but the bush here ain't so appealing...not so much the bush itself, but what its hiding. Still looking forward to seeing more of the country though. Enjoying being here and have no plans to go back. This is now home.

Spend some hours in Wistler, BC where they had the winter olympics some years ago. If you like to ski this is the place to go. I did not care much, walked around the centre of the village packed with stores selling chinese tourist junk. (Just as bad as Jasper and Banff....lol)P4250010.JPG

@APAK Before I went farming, I spent several years living and working here in the Hunua Ranges not far from Sth Auckland. Was a park ranger building and maintaining tramping tracks. Was a great place to raise the kids. They virtually had the run of the place and could go wherever they wanted without fear. A couple of miles through the bush from the house to the main gate which was locked every night.upload_2018-4-27_10-55-20.png
Our house was just below the dam. Not a hydro dam, but water supply for Auckland.

Lone Mountain Tennessee school, ca 1912. I found this photo that happens to have several children of our family in the mix. Cousin researched our ancestors came from Lone Mountain Tennessee to Fannin County Texas early in the century. Just a chance search led me to this photo.

Sundown withe sun setting between what I call May and June mountains. May on left and June on the right. On June 21, summer solstice, the sun sets at the highest point of June mountain on the right. Then it starts moving south and setting to the left little by little. I've observed the seasons here for nearly five decades with the sunsets, butterfly, hawk and raptor migrations in the fall.

God's hand so evident everywhere.

My Grandpa on dad's side was born in Monteagle, TN, my dad is was born in Lebanon, TN, he lived next to Center Hill Dam when he was young, and I believe Grandpa used to work at Center Hill Dam too, there used to only be a few houses there. Grandpa certainly used to love the mountains though.

I've been wanting to do so gold panning. I have pans and some gold has been found here. The diamond mine at Murfreesboro has produced some whoppers and for a few dollars you can go in and search. We're pretty close but never have been.

The largest diamond found there is the uncle Sam which was over 40 carats!

Finding large diamonds could be a nice hobby!

Wow, we do have more in common than I thought...small world. Fired my first (Dad's) rifle British Enfield 303 when I was 11, from on top of a ridge, overlooking a main water reservoir, about 2.5-3 km below. I wish I had some photos of those times. Might be able to dig some up.

Yes, there was a sense of real freedom back then....In the weekends, I would duck into the bush all day and come back for dinner. Miss the crayfish, trout, banana passion fruit off the vines, the katydids, magpies, and other birds, running the sheep ridges up the hills and tramping about, and the muddy knees..not the lawn mowing..lot of fun for boys...

New Zealand is a pretty nice place, here is little me when I was 11 back in 2007, with some friendly alpacas, we went to both the North and South Island, Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargil, Curio Bay in the far south, went for a little cruise in Milford Sound, we went to lots of places in the 18 days we were there, all the scenery in between those places was wonderful, and yes I remember the smell of Roturua, the nice smell of sulphur from the mud springs, great place though.

I don't exactly know which lake this picture was taken at though. Maybe someone else might know?

I was so excited about the alpacas though hahhaha, I still would like some pet alpacas. lol

Got back onto the bike, probably 1st time in 2 months, new sram chain, unfortunately though gear troubles again haha, played with the cable tensioners a bit, no luck, and didn't have a screw driver on me to mess around with the front derailleur cage screws, man it's pretty hard to get them things working right and having the right cable tension, cage position and everything. Just not long ago fixed the back, I snapped my back derailleur hanger on the bike at the start of the year, replaced that, and the rear derailleur and that was a lot of messing around to get the speeds shifting cleanly, so hopefully I can fix the front to shift cleanly, without getting new parts.

Ah well one kangaroo spotted and a deer, didn't get any pictures of them though. The tracks were nice and quiet just now.

Looks like it could be lake Whakatipu...Queenstown. Someone asked our Bible class today if there was anywhere they'd been that they could take with them to heaven. My answer was the NZ Bush backing on to Opoutama beach, Mahia Peninsula but with the addition of the Australian birds.
