Gen 3:16 . .To the woman He said: Your desire will be for your husband.

Apparently the Hebrew of that passage is difficult; not even the great rabbis
Rashi and Ramban were in agreement how best to interpret it. But the
passage appears to me simply the very first law prohibiting adultery.

This law was enacted before there were any Jews, and before there were
any Christians. Everybody on Earth at the time of its enactment were
Gentiles-- and would continue to be Gentiles until such a time as Jacob came
along to engender Israel's twelve tribes.

So then, I take it that Gen 3:16 is a universal law regardless of one's race,
color, gender, religion, and/or ethnic identity; and to my knowledge, this
particular law prohibiting adultery has never been repealed.

Yep, that is one way of understanding that passage, but the passage does not rule out that the husband can have more than one wife.

Here in lies our dilemma. Do this law apply equally to both sexes?

"...but the passage does not rule out that the husband can have more than one wife."

1 Timothy 3: 2 " A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;"

1 Timothy 3: 12 "Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well."

Question: does Jesus Christ have multiple wives?

"...and your desire will be for your husband." How is this a part of punishment; the curse(death)?

It is a curse because Adam is flesh and failed to rule. We see this throughout the OT, in the wilderness, the many idols and the many adulteries. The only cause for putting away a wife is for fornication(adultery). There is One head, which is Christ(Spirit) and He has ONE wife(body). Follow after the flesh and you commit adulteries and fornication. We are not to be ruled by flesh but instead: Follow after Spirit (Christ) and therefore faithful to One husband (again Christ). Spirit rules over flesh and in that there is the command of loyalty and love and long-suffering and patience and forgiveness. As above (Christ fills the role. A man(leader) walking after the Spirit fills the role: blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach, ruling their children and the houses well. Whether spiritual children as with Paul or the other) … because that is the model: Christ and His body... Not Adam and Eve.

Actually Genesis 2:23,24 rules out polygamy.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

That passage does not say "wives" but "wife" and "one flesh". While God allowed polygamy in Old Testament times, the divine principle is one man and one woman in order to properly represent Christ and the Church (His Wife).

This thread wasn't supposed to be about marriage. It was supposed to be
about Eve's morals.

I really hate thread hijackers. They remind me of Cowbirds. They are what's
known as brood parasites; laying their eggs in the nests of other species
instead of building a nest of their own. Due to the aggressive nature of Cowbird
behavior, the other species' nest eventually produces only Cowbirds.

I see Cowbird behavior on internet forums all the time; it's very common.

Really, the OP does not convey that intended purpose and the thread title is vague given the lack of detail the Bible provides concerning Eve and in particular her morals.

Oh and how many posts have you already prepared to be posted in this thread so that you can talk at us rather than have a conversation with people.

Iv'e said this before...and I will say it again...IF all you want is to have all your writings, posts etc on one thread...without any one else commenting....let me remind you, you are posting in the WRONG PLACE!!!!!
Let me remind you, this is a PUBLIC forum....every one has a right to comment on ANY thread...if you want a private thread where no one can comment , agree or disagree with you..... WRITE ALL YOUR THREAD AS A BLOG, IN THE BLOG SECTION. And not on the open forum.

Can there be adultery without marriage?

True. There is nothing about Eve's morality or immorality in Scripture. There are all kinds of extra-biblical legends about Eve, which Christians can conveniently ignore. There are even Apocryphal books about Adam and Eve.

Hark! Cowbirds do chirp and sing.

Matt 13:31-32 . .The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed,
which a man took, and sowed in his field: which indeed is the least of all
seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a
tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

(Actually they sound more like squawking than chirping and singing) :)

Crows in my country are the disposal units of the road kill. Perhaps that is what you are seeing and hearing. They do serve a very useful purpose. Perhaps you need to slow down to stop the road kill of civil discourse.
