And that's why the Prosperity Preachers should be helping Christians to come out of it productively, instead of lining their own pockets at the expense of the poor. Do you see the problem?

Poverty is a curse!! Prosperity, blessings, gifts, from God, are a blessing. But we have what we say and believe for. Jesus says==Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.Mark11:24

Did not Jesus Himself say the poor we will always have around us?

How can you help poor peopleif you are just as poor yourself?? Poverty is a curse!! Prosperity, blessings, gifts, from God, are a blessing. Why fight against God"s blessings?? No worries God will not force you to accept His gifts and blessings.
"Poverty is a curse..." This whole world is cursed.
So, are you saying that all those many 3rd world countries...where the majority of human beings live in poverty have been cursed? And, by who?

I would say that being rich can be a curse too, depending on how one handles their money and their attitude.
Easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God.

God can use false preachers to lead people to Christ.
With God all things are possible.
Once people get baptized with the Holy Spirit they will know what they need to know and carry on.

Personally I think Van Impe and Lindsay are not haywire teachers.
But I don't hear them very often, maybe a few times/year.

"The Late Planet Earth" by Lindsay played a roll in me becoming a Christian in 1980.
A non-Christian gave it to me!
(Even though some of his predictions did not turn out to be right at that time).

Indeed Triumph...I think it is all in the desire to search and seek TRUTH...Yes, God can and often does use "false teachers" and erroneous teaching to initially bring in those who are seeking. IF they truly are searching for TRUTH---God WILL bring them into ALL Truth We all need to be Bereans IMO...
Many blessings!

Poverty is not a curse plenty people lived a good life and close to God in fact with close family bonds and community sharing , wealth sure can be a curse, remember the rich man and the camel and that eye of the needle and I have met many a cursed wealthy man that all hate him family and all and does not have duty of community but treats others badly or much much worse.

Oh wow-Herbert Armstrong!!! I remember back in the 1990's when I first became saved (walked away for a season while still a babe) I was at the library all the time...I happened upon one of his books and do not remember what I had read, but it just had my mind at unrest when I compared what I had up till that point learned! It scared me. I prayed and, like a "babe in Christ" just opened the bible and lo and behold, it did NOT open to Psalms as it usually seems to, lol. This is what God gave me: Galatians 5:7-12
7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.

Now THAT was a wow moment for me :)

And that very experience is why I argue the point when someone says " There is only one way to interpret a scripture" ( obviously they mean 'their' way :) )

God has spoken to me out of the most obscure scriptures ...and pulled one right out of context.
When God speaks , He can use anything to speak to us.
My my "getting into" the literature of Armstrong and the World Wide Church Of God.. was in the 60's.
God got my attention with that...and led me on from there.
When I was ready my dad ( a preacher) just said to me..."would you like me to send my pastor friend to visit you? "
Dad was wise enough not to say anything himself...but trusted this wise old pastor to lead me to the Lord from there. :)

God works in wonderful ways.!! Yay!

God Wants You Saved, Well And Prosperous!! I really like Andrew Wommack's Bible teaching on=God wants you saved, well, prosperous http://www.awmi.net/video/this-weeks-tv/#/2018/week31/monday

Isaiah 53:4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging, we are healed.
Matthew 8:16-17 16When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases."
1 Peter 2:24 24"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds, you have been healed."

The way to prosperity, in the new body, is first with humility, in this current body. Christ taught "sell your possessions" and "give to the poor" as the way to humble yourself, and then begin to do good works. If your idea of the gospel does not include these two necessary things, then you have no understanding of the gospel, read these two studies,

Those that do not want God"s blessings and gifts and are happy with what they have are also blessed.
4Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 34:7

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. 7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: 8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: 9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

Yes, very true...but think about this---God etched HIS desires inside our hearts so, OUR desires for worldly goods and success are replaced by His desire for us to love Him above all, and love our neighbors as ourselves. He gives us everlasting spiritual blessings in abundance, not worldly "stuff" and money...we are blessed among all people to understand and believe His perfect will for our lives...and I can assure you that His desires are not the kind that thieves can steel and moths cannot destroy.
If I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back and Jesus-I have all and more than I need....we are to be content in our situation no matter poor or rich in this world. That is true faith, not naming and claiming worldly things. I have certainly been where you are now and, even though I stayed for about 2 years, I was not studying scripture as the Bereans in the bible did, and were commended for it. I just believed the pastor word for word, and that is very dangerous. I pray you will know in your heart the Truth of Gods blessings really are.
God Bless!

Preachers on TV like Jack Van Impe. Hal Lindsey, John Hagee, Perry Stone. Jessie Duplantis has helped and lead Millions to seek and find God!! And you??

I would be leery and discerning if those guys are preaching prosperity when Paul has been preaching godliness with contentment as great gain.

Luke 6:25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. 26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

1 Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

If those guys are preaching prosperity, how can they apply Paul's words in that regard in following Him?

Going back to what @Triumph1300 said earlier - “prosperous could mean all kinds of things”

I’ve been thinking about that and it has changed my view of how I view prosperous. It’s not having 5 million sitting in the bank and living in the biggest house. For me it’s the roof over my head, food to eat, etc. I’ve never went without and I don’t know what it feels like to have not eaten in days or weeks (the only starving I’ve experienced is when I’ve neglected feeding my soul God’s Word) or having to walk miles for water.

And 1Cor4:
8 Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have begun to reign—and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you! 9 For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings. 10 We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! 11 To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. 12 We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; 13 when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world—right up to this moment.

Strange how the apostle does not live a prosperous life, at l;east not a material prosperous life.

Could it be that the prosperity is found in spiritual terms?

How many third world christian do not know material prosperity, but do know about spiritual realities.

One. He bore our sins on the cross. Not our diseases.

Two. He did this so we might die to sin, not to sickness.

Three. By his wounds we are healed spiritually so that we can be made new by the blood of Christ.
