Your frontal lobe in your brain is where your imagination is, the place where the heavenlies are for you, the place where you run away to Abba Father as a child - a sacred place. When you quite smoking, life feels so much richer, sometimes like when you were a child.

Smoking seals up your frontal lobe and thus your imagination.

Brothers and Sisters, smoking is not a sin but you would be much happier off of them and so Jesus would be happy for you too,

OR (cut down then quit)

Buying a proper (do it right and win) E-cigarette which costs about £100, I can guide you to brands (mods I hope this is ok - I can edit this if you want) if you PM me:
  • 5000 unknown chemicals in cigarettes. Only 72 unknown in E-cig fluid. *
  • Any flavour from strawberry to chocolate to jam donut.
  • Cut down nicotine levels over time easily by buying different levels in your liquid.
  • Changeable amount of vapour.
  • They have been out for a while now ("no one knows the long-term effects" is old now) and they are safe e.g. diactol which causes popcorn lung has been removed from the liquids.*
This has got me off fags for two years and I am doing the half-marathon for Tearfund in October therefore I am healthy. I puff on my E-cig like a chimney with 6mg nicotine in my fluids.

Print this stronghold buster out and use once a day for two months. Just read it parrot fashion for this time - don't struggle through it but do it:

In Jehovah Ratha's name I affirm smoking hurts me and others a lot as it is a nasty habit therefore I will quit smoking so I can bless this temple of the Holy Spirit that has been bought with a price:

Feel fresher and more attractive
  • Smell nice
  • not be in slavery
  • more understanding thus less stress
  • have more money
  • holier to serve
  • enjoy e-cig flavours
  • life is richer
  • Smoking is nasty and destroys me
  • add other reasons you can think of

I smash my habit of smoking to pieces, in Jesus name!

Thank you Jesus that I will quit smoking and feel great as I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.

Amen

Any problems after that then go to a pipe at least as the tobacco is less damaging.

Shalom :)

Fifteen verses for protecting a sacred place..................................................!!!
Php 3:7-21

(7) But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
(8) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
(9) And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
(10) That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
(11) If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
(12) Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
(13) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
(14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
(15) Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
(16) Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
(17) Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
(18) (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
(19) Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
(20) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
(21) Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Neither my wife nor I nor our children have ever smoked. My grandfather died of lung cancer and while in the hospital he warned me of smoking. Whether or not that was the thing that warned me off I know not.

But our health is better I know. A neighbor we've nown since he was a boy is dying of lung cancer. He is 41.

Smoking can lead to health complications and pollutes the body. It is filthy. I should know, as I still smoke. I take breaks here and there but I haven't been able to fully kick the habit despite knowing, to myself, that it is sinful because of this verse.

Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.

fwiw tobacco is not treated the same as cigarettes, and if you transition to Bugler or something similar you can withdraw from the chemical bath that pre-rolled cigarettes are put in to make them more addictive. You'll even notice that you still have a craving right after finishing one, even though you might be dizzy with nicotine. The chemicals are the hard part to kick, not kidding

It does not hurt and cause divisions in the body of Christ like Gossip or backbiting does. So 'sin' does not come in sizes.

I have never smoked, but many great men of God used to.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
C.S. Lewis
C. H. Spurgeon ( cigars)
and all the others.....

I guess it is a matter of "What is the LORD saying to you?"
These men obviously didn't live in an age where they were dictated to as to what is right and what is wrong....or even what is godly and what is not.
"To the pure all things are pure."

But, in this day and age poison is added to them to make them more addictive and increase sales ...that has been proven.
Apples are no longer compared to apples...as the 'apple' has morphed now.

I quit - and even recently started a thread about quitting - but I guess also the point is about Christian liberty, which is not something to be abused but it is there, Romans 14.

And you're right; when one thinks just how massive a servant of the Lord C H Spurgeon was - and then wonders how effective those Christians are who would guilt-manipulate others about a subject such as smoking, it's really self evident that for example you could inhale as a smoking woman if you wanted to but the fact that you don't is your choice and your business and probably has a lot to commend it also.

Don't let ppl guilt-manipulate you; but if you can gradually cut down and even quit, more power to you.

Although it's mainly men now who use pipes, some women do smoke pipes also; I read someplace in fact that prior to the American Civil War it was very widespread for women to smoke pipes together after a church service.
