Deuteronomy 28:38
[38] Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume (devour) it.
Joel 1:2-4
[2] Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? [3] Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. [4] That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
James 5:1-4
[1] Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you . [2] Your riches are corrupted, and your garments (coverings) are motheaten. [3] Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat (devour)your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. [4] Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
Revelation 9:7-9
[7] And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. [8] And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. [9] And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
“...running to battle.” To devour the flesh as it were fire. A “witness” against those (heaping treasure unto yourself) which have kept them (others)back by fraud.
Matthew 3:3-4
[3] For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. [4] And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
2 Timothy 2:15-17
[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [16] But shun profane and (unprofitable fleshly) vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. [17] And their word will eat(devour) as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
Joel 2:21-29
[21] Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things. [22] Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for THE tree(of Life) beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. [23] Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month . [24] And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. [25] And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my (God’s) great army which I (He)sent among you(Us). [26] And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. [27] And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,(even today) and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. [28] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: [29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
[38] Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume (devour) it.
