How on-topic of you! :)

If we pick up where Paul left off in his "pressing on toward the prize" and "leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ", then we would now be walking in sunshine, in the glory of God. The majority would not be returning to those elementary principles generation after generation, but this is the way of men. Nonetheless, the unpopular truth which men reject, is preached unto the end.

It seems many ARE "walking in sunshine, in the glory of God." There are many testimonies of those pressing in to God and their multiple experiences.

Prophet: One who speaks the word of God.
The OT prophets and Jesus, the last of the O.T. prophets spoke the WORD OF GOD, and made known ALL revelation, including, of course, new revelation.

For instance, we know that God is merciful based on O.T. prophets...
We know that Jesus will return at the end of the age based on what HE said in the N.T.

There can be NO NEW REVELATION....
Anything any prophet says MUST BE BASED on scripture.
There is no new scripture ALLOWED...

Do you not agree with this?
If not, why not?

Peter called Paul's writings, "scripture." So all the inspired writings of the NT apostles are scripture.

15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

Do you believe John wrote the Revelation of Jesus Christ? Paul told us to come behind in no gift until then.

“so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:7) (NET)

Yes, John wrote Revelation; however, you are twisting the meaning of scripture.

Please... John writes "the Revelation of Jesus Christ". And Paul says at an earlier time, see that you come behind in no gift waiting for "the Revelation of Jesus Christ". Same exact Greek words used by both.

If what you are saying is true, it was true for the early rain. We are in the latter rain that falls before the harvest.

The word "cease" in 1 Corinthians 13 regarding tongues is "pauo" which means to "pause." I don't believe in any new world revelation, but do personal revelation as I've received them. Also, revelation on fulfillments of old prophecies.

But the revelation is a prophecy of the future. In a very strange understanding you are taking the New Testament is only good until John wrote the book of Revelation and not the actual fulfillment?

Truly bizarre!

I don't think that is what Dave meant, only that no new revelation would be handed down, though he doesn't believe in today's supernatural gifts calling them of the Antichrist!

The gift of prophecy on a personal level still exists. Throughout church history, there was a long dry spell, until now, which I believe is the "latter rain" and revelations of how today's events are being fulfilled is happening. Have you heard Jonathan Cahn and Lance Wallnau?

No...haven't heard of them.

All I know is that I was called of God the way described in the bible. I was baptized in light from Zion.

“so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:7) (NET)

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

That is a Hebrew Semitic writing style of one phrase enhancing another phrase, called parallelism. Therefore revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ is the same as the second coming.

Paul says; “so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ; who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:7–9)

This shows your position is off.

Cease =
68.46 παύω; καταπαύωc: to cause something or someone to cease from some activity or state—‘to cause to cease, to make stop.’5
παύω: παυσάτω τὴν γλῶσσαν ἀπὸ κακοῦ ‘make the tongue cease (speaking) evil’ 1 Pe 3:10.
καταπαύωc: κατέπαυσαν τοὺς ὄχλους τοῦ μὴ θύειν αὐτοῖς ‘they made the crowds stop sacrificing to them’ Ac 14:18.

So this is your basis for ignoring the bible...even though you say it is the culmination of perfection....and replaces the work of the Spirit.

John said "soon". I'm just saying what he said.

Like a child in the back seat saying..."are we there yet"?

But who is going to interpret "soon" in the spiritual eternal sense?

The human mind?
