I believe Jesus when he said that we must go and baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Do you believe Jesus?

Curious Mary

How is it Jesus told the apostles to baptize in the singular name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and they baptized in the name of Jesus Christ? If Jesus Christ is not the personal name of the triune God?

I Love this,
John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent".

update version 2.0
John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true (JESUS/God), and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”.

I love those updates.

How can the Father send the Son if they are the same person? It takes a Father to send a Son.

Since they are three in One then in a sense, YES, Jesus is Father. God is also Yahweeh, Lord or just "Father" as Jesus called Him in Luke 11:2.

How can he create a universe? It is truly a mystery, isn't it Dave?

Because they are, as scripture says, one in three or three in one (which is the correct way to put it?)......If we baptize in the name of the Holy Spirit it is still a baptism in the name of the Father and Son.

Your welcome....Mary

still can can't follow instructions can you? oh well, G243 G2087 ,allos heteros have a difference in meaning, which despite a tendency to be lost, is to be observed in numerous passages. Allos expresses a numerical difference and denotes another of the same sort;" heteros expresses a qualitative difference and denotes "another of a different sort."

now Dave, what do "a numerical difference" means?, and what do "SORT" means look them up.

If you do not know how to read Greek, how can you present "Vine" as the last word on the matter? BDAG is the standard today for ancient Greek and what it says disproves your theory.

But, each speak in the first person and refer to the others in the second person for the most part. Jesus' baptism illustrates this vividly.

First thanks for the reply. now if Jesus is in the OT who was speaking, the Father, the son, or the Holy Spirit, which one?

Jesus often spoke as the Son/Word. The second person of the trinity. This according to John 1:ff and Hebrews 1:2.
