When they get older want them removed....
Oh there is a lot of tattoo regret out there, you're right! (tattoo removal is a big business now...)

It's not something ppl should rush into, right? if even done at all.

Today it does seem to be something that so many 18 year olds (both genders; it used to be a man thing) do as a matter of course. (They should think very very carefully...)

A lot of health risks.

A lot of health risks.
This would be true particularly in the past.

In recent years the inks that are used are very different from what was used in the past. Most parlors now invite regulation and inspection. A lot of parlors are more like salons than like the poorly lit industrial section establishments open late at night, that used to be more common.

I saw a video about the different inks now used; I'll try to dig it up.

They don't have an option. State law requires inspection.

I actually helped to write laws regulating on city and county level.

@Acolyte Saw your 'like' earlier.

This quote seems to bear out that, whereas years ago it used to be very much - almost exclusively? - a man thing, now it's also very much about being womanly:

More of the nurses that I work with have tattoos than do not. On my shift, only three don't have them (of 13 nurses). We have several nurses (including myself) who have visible tattoos; one gal has them on her wrists. My hospital does not even have a policy on tattoos any longer; it's a total nonissue.

He started without color but added it. I have no preference.
Because tattooing used to be overwhelmingly what men did, the monotone black "tirbal" used to be often what men liked and wanted. I guess you are glad that it's all changed now and you could participate, how ever you preferred it.

So were your family pleased that you had it done?

So are there good parlors in Salisbury? did you check out any portfolios, just out of interest or curiosity?
I personally don’t have any, but I’m an artist with a daughter who loves tats. I thank God he gives me a love that sees beyond the flesh.

Seems like you have passed on your love of art to your daughter.

I guess when she got her first one (often it's at around 18), you could maybe guess it wouldn't be her last.

So any of hers faith based in design, maybe?

None of hers are faith based,I believe she is as so many others suffering from an identity crisis, waiting on him to tell her who she is.

PS: As well as your daughter, is Mrs. Waiting on him, into ink also, maybe?

There's been quite a sea change since it was formerly a man thing to do very preponderantly.
Mrs waiting hasn’t as far as I know ever had the desire for one?

Well, quite apart from tattoos, keep praying! I'm sure you and Mrs. Waiting do pray for your daughter's guidance in the things of God.

I don't know about the UK but over here in North America it's very widespread both among Christians and among women (having been preponderantly a man thing years ago).

I saw this quote from the Bible Belt, which shows just how deep-seated a custom it now is, FYI:

QueenCat said:
Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

But it sounds anyway like your daughter wouldn't just want to rush and get any old tattoo because everyone else is doing it, but make a point first of choosing good quality designs, right?
