My daughter has been awaiting news of a position she drove 900 miles to interview for. We were certain she had it but their vetting process was intensive! Her mother and I were driving with her when they called with good news. She's now at presidio Texas as a park ranger with Big Bend National Park. She is officed in an old Adobe fort built in the early 1800's. I've added a few pics she sent.

Her hands are full since she is also working on a Master's degree program with U of Idaho in environmental restoration and reclamation and puts 30 to 40 hours a week into that!

The town has been inhabited since the 14th century, founded by conquistadors.

A 6ft + Agave at the bed and breakfast she stayed in.

Is the place remote? 300 miles to nearest Walmart! She is renting a nice RV in a park, most there do the same. Most dwellers in the park are employees of Big Bend, many of those carry side arms so she is well protected. All of our prayers are the greatest security, Amen.

@Frank Lee

Amen Frank.
We will pray blessing and protection on her.
It looks somewhat 'rustic' for me. But she is young.
When Dave and I were in our 30's we went to northern BC and lived in a 100 strong Christian community, VERY rustic ....I don't think we could do it now...with me in late 70's and Dave in early 80's!!

Oh to be young in heart and body. :)

It's very beautiful and she's able to do her degree programs on the chihuahuan desert region. One of her professors is going to visit the park this spring and hopefully get to meet.

Laura when she was in college working the summer for the National Park service in Hot Springs Arkansas. She opened and closed the hot spring fed bath houses. The springs have been in use since time immemorial.

Wow! How exciting! I'm not living in Texas, but I grew up there, so I'm still a Texan at heart. It's a good place to live. I pray that the Lord will bless her there in her new job.

I was born in Bonham, Fannin County in 1944 and still have folks there and other Texas towns. My GGG grandfather was a Texas Ranger starting in the 1830's and was murdered by an outlaw.

I told my daughter she was the first ranger in Texas in our family since Captain Nathaniel T. Journey. Hahahaha!

Ah, that's the other end of Texas from where I grew up in South Texas. My parents lived in Tyler for over 20 years. That's closer to where you were born. None of my ancestors were rangers that I know of but my father's family goes way back as east Texans.

Interesting history.
