Here it is mentioned that Jesus (Who is the almighty) couldn't seem to release his power due to a faith mix up.

Mark 6:5 5He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

I've always questioned this verse, that I can't understand how Jesus power was prevented working in this way. It is a recurring theme in the new testament, that Jesus needed faith from other's for his power to actually work.

I started thinking of how this would work in a real life situation, with a physician today.

Let's say I had cancer, but there was an experimental new drug on the market that was promising.

I decided to take the treatment from my local GP, but before he gave me the medication, he said.

"You must have faith in these pills first, for them to actually work"

The connection here to Jesus healing power is, am I really expected to believe in the medication I need for my cancer first? If the medication can cure me, it can cure me.

Simple.

What a stupid analogy. First of all you lie about (Mark 6:5). "And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them." Jesus healing someone was nothing. Not even considered a 'mighty work'.

If you had the cancer, as you say, and the doctor prescribed the pills, as you say, what do you believe about the affect of the pills? If you don't believe they will help, why do you take them? If you take them, are you placing faith in science?

Yes, it is simple.

Belief is not going to tell me anything about the effectiveness of any cancer medication. Belief is blind, and therefore can not give me any surety that I'm making the right decision by taking the pills or not.

Your move stranger.

My move? You're the one misquoting and misrepresenting Scripture. Yet you say nothing. Did you just copy this off the internet somewhere and didn't do your own work, as most of you wannabe atheist/agnostics do? So answer up. Your move, as you say.

If belief is blind, then why do you take the pills. What are you believing in?

If you take this passage in context, which you should always do when endeavouring to understand what's going on. People were amased by his teaching but they couldn't get beyond the fact that they could only identify him as being a carpenters son, the local lad whose family was there. It later goes on to say that ' they took offence ' - it mentions that Jesus did heal, but could not do more- it doesn't say ' he didn't want to do more ' or ' he didn't have the power to do more ' it merely states the attitude of the people and what that led on to.

The Bible leaves many thing's undone, for it can not answer anyone in the here and now. Unless you believe that it was specifically written for your eye's only.

Hmm, well what can I say.

I'm sure they will, and until then I'll be right here thinking what I'm thinking, unless I realise that I'm completely insane.

Do you think I'm insane?

Would you like me to be wholesome and pure for you or something? I only ask, because you brought up drinking.

In reality I am truly dirty, as nature intended me to be. I'm not rolling around in the mud, but I have embraced my animal me.

Lol, no I would prefer you to be real , the mention of drink was in line with fact that you mentioned on another thread that you liked your can of whiskey. I use to have some interesting discussions with my son under the influence of whiskey - we even agreed from time to time, and he's an atheist!
I am trying to work out if you are posting for fun, under the influence, or really posting because you honestly want answers - I have no idea what time it is in Australia!!!

If I was under the influence of something, would you give me a ticket? Am I breaking the rules for speeding in my thoughts in this forums, like there's a mind speed limit here?

I know you misrepresented the Scripture. I know your the one telling this tall tale. It's your story.

Of course it doesn't break any rules, unless of course the ' influence ' made you into a rude and obnoxious jerk that just took it out on every one, pretty sure someone would report that!
My point was more linked to motive with regards to why you post- if it is just to have a dig, have fun then that affects my desire to interact x

It was written for our eyes only.

You can't say much as you already prove.

Life is my canvas, and I'll paint any picture I desire.

Oh, it's your life, your desire to do as you will. Yet you come here mocking the Christians faith and life. You have painted yourself well. You are a hypocrite and liar. Let me stand back now and admire this portrait.

This is exactly why I left Christianity, because it just proves to me that faith has no real lasting effects. Obviously it hasn't made you into a person who embodies the spiritual values of Jesus, right? Well why hasn't it?

Argh! You're are a lost cause, just wake up to yourself. If you're not going to act like Jesus right, then join me on the dark side, plenty of room here.
