Has prophecy ceased? Has knowledge ceased? I don't believe so, therefore why should tongues have ceased?
Well believe it, since the last apostle-prophet John has already told you that prophecy has ceased (Rev 22:18). As to knowledge, that is not secular knowledge, but supernatural knowledge, given to the prophets and apostles (who have all passed on).

Can a book replace the person of the Holy Spirit? Of course not....it points to Him.
No one teaches the above.

It appears people make up straw man arguments as if persons actually teach it and/or believe (and they don't) and then pretend to have won some argument, or, have proven themselves superior. :)

Perhaps it has ceased in certain areas but where I come from the gift of tongues is still used.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. - Zechariah 4:6

It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that puts a, "Go Ye!" and a "Divine "Nature" on the inside and allows for much good to be done on planet earth. RW Schambach telling, @ 31:00 how a young person preached a message instead of Zechariah he had Nicodemus in that tree, and ten people came forth to get saved. That's what the Holy Spirit will do for you! Whose blessings are still available for today!

To preach Cessationalism is to breathe more life into the spirit of the Laodicean church age.... Which is basically (let him that read the prophecy understand) materialism, coldness, luke-warmness, carnality, unbelief, and that which makes the Lord sick enough to his stomach to spew religious professors out of his mouth and life.

I've seen way more who believe in tongues, manifestations, spiritual signs &c that are covetous, selfish, materialistic, carnal, and are unbelievers. Word Of Faith is one of their religions and false gospels that prove this to be true. That said your insinuations fall short.

To preach Cessationalism is to also bring back to life the old spirit of the Sardisean church age.... Which is basically (let him that read the prophecy understand) a denominational name along with a spiritual deadness.

But... The John Bunyan guy pictured in your signature was not Sardisean, and was, I believe, especially as the Sardisean denominational birds (let him that read the prophecy understand) had him locked up in jail the majority of his life, the founder of the Philadelphian church.

It's interesting watching you make up things, make false accusations and misapplications as you go along condemning others. You remind me of one of the characters Christian met on his way...

I have read the entire library of John Bunyan by the way and believe....

1. Wicket Gate - Salvation
2. Interpreters House - Sanctification
3. Porters House - Baptism in the Holy Spirit
4. Valleys - The valley of the shadow of death
5. Vanity Fair - Witnessing to this present world
6. Demas Silver Mines - The trap of material prosperity
7. The Delectable Mountains - The feeling one has arrived
8. The Enchanted Ground - The place everyone falls asleep

The foundations of receiving the Holy Spirit after the Salvation experience was first laid by John Bunyan in his Pilgrims Progress....

1. City of Destruction - The place where the Godly direction is first set
2. The Wicket Gate - Acknowledging Christ as Lord is enough to get you in!
3. The Interpreters House - Is the place where faith and life are explained to the babe in Christ
4. The Sight of the Cross - Is where the burden falls off the back and a spiritual experience, and a rather emotional one, is attained...

Then said the Interpreter to Christian, “Hast thou considered all these things?”
Christian: "Yes, and they put me in hope and fear."

In which after the learning of the things of the Interpreters House Christian then continues the journey... Now I saw in my dream, that the highway up which Christian was to go, was fenced on either side with a wall, and that wall was called Salvation. Isaiah 26:1. Up this way, therefore, did burdened Christian run, but not without great difficulty, because of the load on his back.

He ran thus till he came at a place somewhat ascending; and upon that place stood a cross, and a little below, in the bottom, a sepulchre. So I saw in my dream, that just as Christian came up with the cross, his burden loosed from off his shoulders, and fell from off his back, and began to tumble, and so continued to do till it came to the mouth of the sepulchre, where it fell in, and I saw it no more.

Then was Christian glad and lightsome, and said with a merry heart, “He hath given me rest by his sorrow, and life by his death.” Then he stood still a while, to look and wonder; for it was very surprising to him that the sight of the cross should thus ease him of his burden. He looked, therefore, and looked again, even till the springs that were in his head sent the waters down his cheeks. Zech. 12:10. Now as he stood looking and weeping, behold, three Shining Ones came to him, and saluted him with, “Peace be to thee.” So the first said to him, “Thy sins be forgiven thee,” Mark 2:5; the second stripped him of his rags, and clothed him with change of raiment, Zech. 3:4; the third also set a mark on his forehead, Eph. 1:13, and gave him a roll with a seal upon it, which he bid him look on as he ran, and that he should give it in at the celestial gate: so they went their way. Then Christian gave three leaps for joy, and went on singing!

This is the foundational to the Pentecostal Holiness, of which I am a member, doctrine of saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Spirit!

Doesn't matter what you've read or think you know. Your accusations and conclusions are patently false.

It is a bad thing to think that just because one is not aware of the power of God to work in their life.... To assume the power of God is not available at all...

7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.
9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.
11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth. - Ezekiel 8

Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth not. -Ezekiel 9:9
Why do you title it "Evils" why can't you just say disagreement?
You've already labeled those who disagree with your beliefs as siding with evil.

And to the Phildelphians... If this is truly a Philadelphian age congregation....

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.... - Revelation 3:12

No more go out.... To become a Cessationalist so to speak. Ouch! A big dis-advantage to the Wesleyan type revivals.... We are in and out of moves of God! And I do believe that there was a Philadelphian move of God birthed along with the ministry of John Bunyan.

Mark 13:21–23: “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.”

The Bible is sufficient and complete. God spoke His revelation to humanity and it is contained in the closed canon of scripture.

So you say... And I do not think you represent John Bunyan well.
Yes, I say, and it is because it is obvious.

I'm not here to represent Bunyan, but Christ and to expose your false accusations and silly, callow misapplications of Scripture.

You're not representing the latter well, that is, Christ, in your religion, but are actually showing yourself to be more akin to diablos; accusing the brothers.

And falsely.

Exactly. John MacArthur schooled this false religion in his book Strange Fire and in the conference.

It is a bad thing to think that just because one is not aware of the power of God to work in their life.... To assume the power of God is not available at all...

The OP above starts off his diatribe with a misnomer and an untruth. The above is a false dichotomy and a false accusation, and is filled with smugness.

The typical follow up to this is out of context Scripture to prove the point, and @rockytopva doesn't fail to deliver just that with the below:

"7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
- Ezekiel 8"

Nothing in the text above supports a thing @rockytopva accuses in his misnomer opening statement. Thus, the entire accusation and thread is faulty from the beginning. Then he goes on to misuse Scripture again and again in this thread, and not once upon request has he proven anyone believes the things he falsely charges them with.

Faulty beginnings continue following the same faultline since these types of accusations start off on a foundation of error.

But, this is always the case and the penchant of those involved in Charismatic Chaos.
