Well, I started my day so hopeful. This and another thread took some of the wind out of my sails. But, tomorrow is another day. :)

I forgot I said I was going to give my thoughts on what I believe is the spirit of the passage about the money changers in the temple!
We are the temple now. And we can be the money changers too, when we swallow some of the teaching of men and then keep insisting on spreading it. Its like selling someone something for your own gain. If they buy what you're selling, it is gain to you, that you have an ally to help you convince yourself that all is okay, when really, you have made the temple of God a den of thieves by selling something in it for your gain.
I don't know how much sense that will make to anyone but...yeah, sort of like that.

And the rest of Malachi goes into a series of...you have robbed the Lord - Whuuut?? HOW have we robbed Him. You have wearied the Lord - Huuuh...? HOW have we wearied the Lord? You have cheated Me - and through all of that series, the people literally have no idea. And the one that gets me real bad is: from now on we will call the arrogant blessed. I see that one every DAY!

Don't we see the arrogant in here, clapping each other on the back for their arrogant posts, even as they are claiming they are saved? And many see it, but don't seem to be phased at all or see that the honor of Gods name is put down by the behavior.
And Malachi ends that series of statements that they question by saying that some men took what he said to heart and feared God and a book of remembrance was written.
God says those men will be spared who thought about the honor of Gods name and that it would be seen then between those who served God and those who didn't. It would distinguish between the righteous and the wicked.

No. I mean, I don't like that we are so touchy. Hurt feelings is just offended pride. But God works that out of us. I wish argument over doctrine 24/7 could cease and Paul be listened to when he says, but I will show you an even better way!

Who is arguing? I have been staying away from the people that want to argue.
You mean who is telling me that arrogant men clap each other on the backs? No one. Its plain to see. Just go into like...one of the Calvin threads. They are awful.
Or pretty much just pick any thread and stick with it until the once saved always saved stuff starts up. It will happen eventually, even if the thread is about kittens! And watch as everyone gets maimed.
So do you see the absurdity of arrogant men claiming they are saved while damning to hell peaceable men? They claim they can see, but if they really could see, it would be evident, because they would be displaying increase in the virtues, which all hinge on humility. And while displaying none, they claim they are humble. Its all the most absurd farce I have ever seen. Even unbelievers can see the unreality and falseness of it.
I did read that book but its been so long I forget what it was about.

Oh I might be confusing it with another book then. I thought it was about a...pool in the basement of a church and people getting healed.
Twenty first century Christian computer dogmatics and doctrine... When you notice another says and or dares believe the same thing(s) as you, you get offended and humiliated, throw a tantrum and by hook or crook make the other guy look like some stupid hypocrite.
