A smile, humor, is all a human trait. Not for animals who are void of it.

Animals don't share their food with you either. You may take it from them, but they are not interested in sharing it.

Man is the only creature who covers his tracks.

You ask why? Because men are not animals.

Indeed they are not at least not completely but they do have animal qualities or instincts which when followed will lead them away from God and godliness. That is the way of the selfish person. As a child it is tolerated and even taught because it may necessary for survival [crying from hunger or cold to let someone know his needs], but as the child grows, even in the flesh, to be an accepted part of most groups in society he must move from selfishness toward a selflessness... which is opposed to the basic animalistic tendencies. Even the simple smile of a child [or an adult] shows the Way of God as opposed to the way the beastly ways men can and often do go:

"My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword." Psalm 57:4

"The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth." Psalm 37:12

"Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD." Psalm 58:6

Jesus brought to us in himself the perfect example of the other extreme or selflessness. [Can we imagine him with a display of his teeth in a real smile when looking at the innocent children?] Were we not advised by Paul to go in that same direction:

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Phil 2:3

And here we see the writer advising a similar thing about a thousand years prior to the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem:

"I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
Ecc 3:18

"She [Wisdom]hath killed her beasts...Prov 9:2

Well, if you ask this dog the same question, what do you think he would tell you? :D

I think he would say: "I'm trying to be human--how's this work as a smile?"

LOL What a funny video clip! I think we should post a humour thread every Sunday night. I see funny video clips all the time on the interwebs. Only problem is--I don't know how to capture them and reproduce them elsewhere.

Lol, yeah, that is a great idea! All I do is find the meme or GIF, and copy/paste it. Not sure it would work on all things but so far so good!

A 'smilin jack' dog. Product of inbreeding.

They need to ban all dog breeding, IMHO. The homeless animals all need homes, but the breeders are interested only in money and fashion...sickening, really. I love my dogs, and as a matter of fact, I woke up today to my one little guy sleeping on the floor again. He is the best dog I have ever had and yes, I know they run on instinct alone but it does not matter to me. He has brought me much joy and happiness and life in my home that can be very lonely. He has cancer and, I would never put a dog through that treatment, even if I DID have money to burn.
He (my one dog) Adam is his name - has been starting to show signs of going down and it is killing me right now. But I would have to thank God for taking him as I always prayed he would go before me, he's my velcro dog and I love that little fur ball so much, I am now praying that he is not suffering before my eyes as, I can only tell what I see...I've been up since 7 and, he has not gotten up except for once to come into the kitchen...and when I saw how he was struggling to walk, I knew it was close so, I cancelled my plans today. I know he is not human, and as much as I love him, I'd never raise him up in my heart as another being made in Gods image. All I can say is that it's going to be a tough day.
God Bless

Sorry to hear about your dog. It's tough to lose a good dog that has been part of the family. If they are old and dying I usually just let them die at their own time, as long as they are not suffering too much like you said. I try and mix some pain killer with their food to help. But if it's too much, then I put them down. And that bothers me for several days. Remember 'Old Yeller'?

I would have a mixed breed dog any day rather than a purebred. You are right about dog breeding. It is all about money. I'm sure there are some good ones, but you can sure get some idiots. Best dog I ever had was a mix with Pitbull and Lab.

The first pic is saying ahhhhh for the doctor.... the second saying, I can pull a funnier face than you.... the third, tricked ya....the fourth, my tongue is longer than yours...... the fifth, see all my fillings!...... the sixth, see I've got none at all..... the seventh, when your radar malfunctions and you hit the wall, it leaves a permanent impression.

A smile, humor, is all a human trait. Not for animals who are void of it.

A gorilla who was taught to sign, once tied a researcher's shoelaces together, and then signed "chase?" O.K. pretty juvenile humor, but humor, nonetheless.

Animals don't share their food with you either. You may take it from them, but they are not interested in sharing it.

Chimpanzees do it. If one catches an animal and is eating it, others may come and ask for some of it. And often, the chimp will share.

Man is the only creature who covers his tracks.

Mother rabbits, leaving the nest where their kits are, will make long, random leaps, which make it harder for predators to track back to the nest. Cats of most species bury their feces, unless they want to intentionally mark territory as theirs.

You ask why? Because men are not animals.

We are animals. The difference is that we are not merely animals. God gave us a unique and exalted place in the world, an immortal soul, and stewardship over the Earth.

No, we are not animals. We are man. The uniqueness you described pertaining to man shows that we are not animals.

More precisely, we are primates. We fit nicely into the clade of anthropoid apes, with chimpanzees and humans being closer to each other than either is to any other ape. We are animals. But we aren't merely animals. We are also immortal souls like God, able to understand what is good and what is evil.

Chimps show grimaces of fear, but also open their mouths to display teeth as a threat. Humans aren't good at distinguishing these, which is why it's dangerous to be around chimps if you aren't familiar with their signals.

I was never comfortable around chimps...they can be unpredictable so yes, one better know their signals!

I'm a biologist, and ethology is one of my interests. There's a case where a zoo had gotten an adult male who had been badly treated and feared humans. He was considered dangerous, but eventually, he permitted one particular zoo employee to sit quietly near him, and even to groom him, which is like doing small talk for humans.

Later, when the employee was attacked by another chimp, the old male protected him. They are much more aggressive than other apes, but they do also know affection and loyalty.
