1 Corinthians 3:1-15
is not speaking about OUR WORKS,,,
it's speaking about the works of those who teach us.
Those who build on the foundation which is Christ...
as taught by Paul and Apollos.

Hi,

It does say “each man’s work”

But if your read is different, as long as your heart bears witness to your understanding, I wish you all the blessings in Christ,

Much love in Christ, Not me

I like your reply to me because it shows Christianly love.

The reason I even wrote is because this scripture is always taken out of context.
Persons post it to mean that even if they do bad works/deeds the works will be burned up but they will still make it.

If you check 1 Cor 3:9 it says that "we" meaning Paul and Apollos, are the workers. "You" meaning US, BELIEVERS, are the field, the building which is to be built on by other workers such as Paul and Apollos.

1 Corinthians 3:9-10
9For we [Paul and Apollos] are God’s fellow workers; you [we believers] are God’s field, God’s building.

10According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.

I also have no desire to debate this.
am posting this reply in case anyone is interested in doing a small study on this.

I think this is a very important thing to understand.

We do not need anything more than what we have in Christ right now, in who we are being God's spirit children, to walk in the Spirit at any moment in any day, anything more than to believe that this is already ours.

I know there are those who talk about a "second benefit", "latter rain", some additional grace from God, to empower us to walk in Christ, but the net result is to tell people, "You haven't got what it takes. You need that 'extra boost'. Hope ya get it!"

Walking with faith in your heart towards God IS walking in the Spirit. The only thing that takes us away from that is when trials come we look at the waves and start to sink. But it is by Faith in Jesus we have access into the grace in which we stand.

This is now, this is anyone, if you are born again.

Much love!
Mark

Yes Marks, I agree.
And, there are a few on here that I love very much whom do believe differently than we do on this. I do not do mystical or new agey stuff, ever. I stand on this verse:
"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:"

I say it is a faith, trust, and a growth issue as to how far we will allow Him to work through us. Just my experience ♥

I hope you don’t mind if I butt in here and say;

“I’m jumping for joy in Christ over your post”. :)

Many blessings,

Hi JP!
Great post.

"If self be the doer of the things, the works will be burnt up, the believer themselves will be saved, but as it were through fire."
The only way that I am aware of as to how to separate works of the Spirit and works of the flesh is that if doing something for someone in need is done cheerfully...what say you? Are there other ways to distinguish between the two?
“the Spirit teaches all thins”
You mean Girl Scout Thin Mints??!! :D

Works take in all activities we do as believers, or even as unbelievers. There are good works and bad works. The word works does not merely mean actions done for others. It also relates to the way we manage what the Lord gives us. For instance, when the Lord provides for us our finances, are we faithful with that money or do we waste our provision to consume our purchases upon our lusts? Do we use something of what the Lord has provided us to aid others in their need? Are we selfish, self-serving, or are we selfless?

No matter what we do, is it for the purpose of giving God glory -- even at our jobs? Are we at our places of employment merely to get away with slacking off? Or do we work as unto the Lord? When we go out with a friend, do we wish for more than friendly relations? Much of bad works lies within the area of intent. For instance, what are our intentions when we give? To receive? Are we not supposed to give without thought of receiving anything in return? We are not even permitted to ask for interest on money we give to others.

Praise to the Lord is labeled in Scripture as sacrifice. A sacrifice of praise we have all heard. But the question has been asked of us if we think our praises are going to bluff the Lord into thinking our hearts are right. The answer, of course, is that none or our praises and words of worship will deceive the Lord into thinking our hearts are right if they are not. Our primary sacrifice is not praise, but a broken spirit and contrite heart.

Psalm 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Thought I replied to this but I didn't see my reply...

I see where you got this... I agree. I was just thrown off by the way you worded it. Your lack of commas and not saying, "precious stones" is what confused me. You said, "precious stone" which is Jesus.

In any sense, I was misunderstanding what you were getting at which was a reference to 1 Cor 3.

Yep. Loving outwardly and inwardly is what we were created for - working with God by practicing love is practicing our sanctification and is preparing us to be a competent citizens of Heaven.

Praise God!
Someone that understands what works/deeds are!
Wish I could just copy it and paste it .....
So many don't even know what works are or even ask.
They just tell me Jesus did it all and we insult Him by trying to help!

Thanks for a great post.

Amen to that!
Working WITH God is the perfect definition of sanctification.

Do you merely have a phone? But then, even with a phone you can cut and paste, can't you? I prefer communicating on my desktop, although I do use my phone at times. Talking into it isn't something I enjoy because the end result always needs editing, which takes twice as long.

That bit about it all having been accomplished, that we have no part in our sanctification, is so much baloney. There are those who also believe we will, by the time Jesus returns for His Bride, have in the church completely perfected saints, including all of their makeup, body, soul and spirit. Our spirits are already perfect if we are in Christ, but our souls and bodies require entirely different works.

You mean that’s not what scripture means when it talks about us being “dead in Christ”.

Now I’m all sorts of confused! Lol :)
