Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Matthew 7:12 (NASB)
"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
“In everything”
Putting forth that this is the one rule we should always be judging our behavior towards another person by.
This; when Jesus spoke these words He didn’t equivocate, this was to be a maxim. This was put forth to be alone that standard of measurement of our behavior towards another.
For this standard of measurement is only for one way. This instruction to treat others as we would have them treat us only concerns our behavior towards the other. Not their behavior towards us. We are to trust God in the behavior coming back towards us in all things.
For it is never a issue of how someone treats us. The issue is always how we do the treating. This is the behavior that not only truly blesses the receiver of such a behavior, it is the behavior that most opens the door that God can bless the giver of such a behavior.
This “in everything” and that which follows is to be our standard of measurement of our behavior towards all. It matters not whether we like or don’t like, whether we feel their worthy of receiving such a expression of behavior. The issue put forth is;
“treat people the same way you would want them to treat you”.
If we would not have someone be rude to us, let us not be rude to them. If we would not have someone be short with us, let us not be short with them. If we would not have someone force their will on us, let us not force our wills on them. Let us be doers of this word to treat people as you would have them treat you.
It matters not if they return the behavior. For we are to be a expression of love to all people at all times. For we know not how God is working in that life. For God is always working, drawing some, growing others.
For God’s will is that all men be saved, that all would come to know the knowledge of the truth. This is God’s heart and will towards all. This Heart that gave His only begotten Son that we might live and live in love one towards another. For the fulfillment of the law and the prophets is here in this scripture;
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Let us fulfill the law and the prophets by treating other people like we would have them treat us.
For in this is blessings in the here and now, and great rewards to come.
For what is love, what is righteousness, what is being a peace maker? For such is God’s will in all things.
Love in Christ, Not me
