This is a big no for me. The United States has thrived because of our Constition. Id really like opinions from American citizens first. So:

Should the United States Constitution be changed? If so, what?

Too late? It [the Constitution that is] has already been changed by people as I see it... changed to what they want without regard to God being missing nearly everywhere. Our recourse as the people of these United States who also really do strive to surrender always to God is to this verse:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." II Chron 7:14

But I see us as having come almost to the point... if we are not already there, of Noah, Daniel and Job in this verse:

"Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness." Ezek 14:20

Perhaps you and I and a few others are pressing rightly sometimes, but how many make no real effort, much less humbling themselves in seeking His face?

Help us dear Lord!

It should be a huge red flag that leaders want to change it.I really am not sure if we have a choice in the matter of socialism coming or not. It seems like it is being pushed now. And now progressives talk about wanting to change the Constitution. It is why I was curious if there any good reasons of this opinion...

I guess "amendments" are changes to the Constitution?

I agree with you though. I think it is important to ask God if there are any wicked ways as Christians keeping our land from being healed. We can't change anyone else. But we can change our actions. God would have spared Sodom and Gomorrah over 10 righteous people. I would like to think there are more then that in the United States....and Sodom and Gomorrah was before grace.

Hi, Mayflower!

Are you asking if the Constitution should be amended or if there should be a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) to make substantive changes?

This article gives some info about what a Con-Con is: What Is a Constitutional Convention? | The John Birch Society

Yes, but amendments are not so much the problem as court decisions which even to many novices or amateurs appear to be error. The way it works is that a decision made or upheld by the U.S. Supreme has the force of law in spite of error... and there is no appeal from that level within the legal system of the nation.

Very simply it is people who want to change it. They want to be completely democratic forgetting completely what that is likely to do the rights of minorities. If leaders seem to be going that way as well, consider that most, if not all, of them are politically motivated.

While the polls may show 80% or so area Christian, that is based on a probably very inaccurate definition of what a Christian is. The real believers who strive continuously to surrender to God would be much less and likely decreasing. They probably won't take away some of financial benefits of being a Christian, but they will redefine what a Christian is to the point where none or few of us here will qualify.

The good news is that we still have God and His Son.

There may be more than 10, but I doubt that the population of those two cities was even close to what the population of the United States is today. How fair is God who has never changed?

Oh wow...Right now, seems like the Supreme Court is the only thing protecting President Trump's rights and conservative rights. But if other judges stepped in that took advantage of this system and didn't do justice...wow. Is the Supreme Court dealings part of the Constitution?

Oh true. Wasn't thinking of the population!!! But he did save the only ones who were righteous. Lot and his family. Even then, Lot's wife was turned to salt. So whatever happens...God will protect the righteous.

I'm unsure. I'll have to read about that. Never heard of it. Just whatever I hear going around on the news about progressives wanting to change the Constitution.

I haven't been listening to the news lately, but I know that progressives would like to make big changes to the Constitution, which I believe has been used by God to guard our liberties. I think a Con-Con would probably only bring bad changes at this point.

I am no expert on the history of the changes in the Court since its establishment, but a great many years ago they made a turn or turns leading to more power to effectively establish law through court decisions than, as I see it, the writers of the Constitution intended. Sometimes good decisions have been made, but politics is in the courts too. The precedents of those earlier "turns" makes it difficult or even impossible to put it in reverse. When it comes to this system, which is the only one I and others have known, it is disappointing and without God I see no hope for it. I tell my wife at times how glad I am we are old and no matter how bad it make get we don't have a lot of time to deal with it. But... there are many younger folks who get hit with it. Without God? Unbearable!

I'm only Canadian...

I don't know how many Americans are on CB, so I'll go ahead and open it now. Just if anyone is an American Citizen, please say so. :D I'm just curious on the different opinions if someone lives in country versus out of country.

Yes, but remember Caleb and Joshua. Unlike the other Israelites they were faithful... But, they too had to go through the 40 years of trial and tribulation in the wilderness before being allowed to enter into the Promised Land. This means that even a pathway of soft beautiful roses still has thorns which cannot always be avoided.

The only people who wish to change, undermine, and destroy the Constitution of the United States are the traitors who reside within, while doing everything in their power to destroy America. So the first order of business for the President should be to round up all the traitors and seditionists and have them locked up (after due process). In order to do that he needs to purge the DOJ and the FBI, or set up an independent Commission to investigate treason and sedition.
