So the timeline for the week that Jesus was crucified was as follows"
The last supper with the disciples and the arrest of Jesus - Wednesday
The trial of Jesus - Thursday morning.
The crucifixion - 12 noon on Thursday
Jesus died and buried - 3pm on Thursday
Passover preparation day in which the lambs were killed - Thursday
Passover itself - Friday
The Sabbath day - Saturday
Jesus' resurrection - Sunday morning.
Passover
I have a question for your timeline, scripture, Luke 23:54 "And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
Luke 23:55 "And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Luke 23:56 "And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment".

ok they rested the sabboth day according to you which would be Friday... correct. now this, Mark 16:1 "And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

NOW THIS, Mark 16:2 "And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

if friday was the sabbath what happen to saturday? was there two back to back sabbaths? I hope you don't say yes.... :D

but I'll be looking for your answer,

You do not understand the parable.

John 11:9
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? — (See on Joh_9:4). Our Lord’s day had now reached its eleventh hour, and having till now “walked in the day,” He would not mistime the remaining and more critical part of His work, which would be as fatal, He says, as omitting it altogether; for “if a man (so He speaks, putting Himself under the same great law of duty as all other men - if a man) walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.” (Jamison-Fawcett-Brown)
.
LOL,I understandthis fact very well. Matthew 20:5 "Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
Matthew 20:6 "And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

Acts 2:15 "For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

you see with scripture they support scripture. so these one can support the 12 hrs, in the day... :D

so write Jamison-Fawcett-Brown and ask them to add in those scriptures in a DAY....

so that what you offered want fly.

The Passover day was the day before the Sabbath day. If it was on the Sabbath, they could not have cooked the lamb or served it to their families, because that would have been unauthorised work. The First Century Jews were ultra strict about that. Look what happened when the disciples merely picked an ear of corn and ate it on the Sabbath Day, and the abuse that was heaped on the guy whom Jesus healed and who walked away carrying his bed mat on the Sabbath Day.

The Bible does not say Friday to Sunday. It says the day before the Passover which was the Thursday before (John 13:1). That was the day of preparation when the Passover lambs were killed, and the legs of the criminals were broken because the Jews did not want them hanging on the cross during Passover day and the following Sabbath.

The week where the Passover and the Sabbath combined was not the ordinary Sabbath week. It was a festival week where pilgrims from all around the regions came to celebrate the Passover in Jerusalem. We know this because many were still there 40 days later for the Feast of Tabernacles (Pentecost). Because travel was much slower and longer in those days, it makes no sense for them to travel back home and then all the way back for the next festival. So, many stayed over, and that is why they were there on the Day of Pentecost.

Jesus' resurrection - Sunday morning.
Passover
We know Jesus rose on the Sunday and three days before that is Friday.
That is good enough for me.

I suggest you do some reading about First Century Jewish culture, festivals, Passover, and Sabbath rules, because you are not demonstrating a knowledge of them. Also a bit of study in exegesis and hermeneutics wouldn't go far wrong either, seeing that you think you can cobble verses together, ignoring context in which those verses occur.

Just read about what happened during Passover week for First Century Jews. That would not contradict the Scripture narrative of events seeing that the Scripture is just reflecting what was happening during that Passover week when Jesus was arrested and crucified.

As I said before, after Pentecost, compulsory observance of the Jewish Saturday Sabbath was abolished. You can read the Scripture for yourself to see that it was so.

Jesus rose at daybreak on Sunday morning, so Sunday was not one of those days. The third night, if you just read the clear English was Saturday night. 3 days, Thursday to Saturday, and 3 nights, Thursday night to Saturday night. If you calculate 3 days and 3 nights from Friday, you have Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night! But Jesus rose at daybreak on Sunday morning! So just using simple logic, one has to see that Jesus died and was buried on Thursday which was the first day.

But then, some just turn off their brains when they start thinking with a just one eye!

All you are doing is shoe-horning your own preconceived dogmatic view into the Scripture which does not say what you are wanting it to say.

"But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! fear for you, that my efforts for you may have been in vain" (Galatians 4:9-11).

"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ" (Colossians 2:15-17).

Interpreting Scripture with Scripture is the way to ensure that we are quoting Scripture according to what the Holy Spirit is telling us, rather than holding on to preconceived notions that are not supported by Scripture.

No because we are "Christians".
not everyone is a "Jew" though they call themselves "christian" and I don't mean Jewish people either ..I basically mean being Jew by Christ DNA...being born with his spirit blood and water but his Jewish instincts by his DNA and character only..so whether Jew or gentile anyone can be a Jew but not everyone is christian just because they call themselves that...it goes much deeper then that

GINOLJC, to all
NOPE, the Lord was crucified and died in the Ninth hour of the day, meaning 3 hrs. remain in the day so you have 9 more hours to account for even after sunday, if you count it your way. so just on the day alone you have 9 more hours to squeeze in ... (smile). and we haven't even got to the nights ... Oh one other thing are you using eastern time or pacific time ... (smile, lol), even still you have 6 more hours to squeeze in, (sorry about that)...

PICJAG.
Then maybe he was killed on Thursday...

<<it is said>>, immer. But never written. Because it's a HOAX!

Al my life, thousands upon thousands of times have I challenged the CHANCERS who claim <<Jesus was crucified on Friday>> for Scripture.

I'M STILL WAITING! Ya hear you deaf, I'M STILL WAITING!
And why do I even care about it

What pretence, I dont have to pretend about anything, like those who propose they keep teh law and sabbath. God is not ignorant or blind to mens charades.

Mjrhealth: <<What pretence?>> Mjrhealth never pretends!

Mjrhealth: <<I dont have to pretend about anything>> Mjrhealth never pretends about anything!
He never has anything to pretend!

Mjrhealth: <<like those who propose they keep teh law and sabbath>> Mjrhealth <<God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are .. I give all that I possess...>>!

Mjrhealth: <<God is not ignorant or blind to mens charades.>>

The Scripture also says that the Temple curtain was ripped from top to bottom signifying that the Old Jewish Covenant was at an end, and the observance of the Saturday Sabbath being a Jewish requirement was abolished along with all the other ceremonial and ritualistic observances. I am a Gentile, therefore the Jewish Saturday Sabbath has no relevance for me. The Scripture says that I no longer have to observe special days and seasons, but to worship God in Spirit and in truth. Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary is my Sabbath and I rest in Him, as the Apostle to the Hebrews tells me to do.

If you are observing the Jewish Sabbath as a definitely requirement for you to be justified before God, then Christ, according to the Apostle to the Hebrews as no benefit for you and the finished work of Christ on Calvary is out of your reach, because you are depending on the observance of the Old Covenant Jewish Law for justification before God.

aaaa-jaaaa that this has to be how I have had to spend my life.... it's no longer lekker for me, realise!

in any case, here goes,

On some points you are in agreement with Scripture though not every time hundred percent, like where you say in black,
<<that the Temple curtain was ripped from top to bottom signifying that the Old Jewish Covenant was at an end, and the observance of the Saturday Sabbath [being a Jewish requirement] was abolished along with all the other ceremonial and ritualistic observances. [I am a Gentile, therefore the Jewish Saturday Sabbath has no relevance for me.] The Scripture says that I no longer have to observe special days and seasons, but to worship God in Spirit and in truth. [Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary is my Sabbath] and I rest in Him, as the Apostle to the Hebrews tells me to do.

>>

So what you say [in red] is just what you, say, and because just what you say, is therefore, either or both irrelevant nonsense and or plain Scripture contradicting error and heresy.

It's not me saying it. All I am doing is reflecting what the Bible is saying. So if you think that what I am saying is irrelevant, then you are saying the Bible is irrelevant to what you believe.

What version of the Bible are you reading?

Saturday Sabbath is Jewish, so very relevant to the topic.

Saturday Sabbath is indeed Jewish, so absolutely relevant to the topic that "the Seventh Day .. GOD thus concerning spake .. by the Son .. in these last days .. IS SABBATH OF THE LORD YOUR GOD .. FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD" irrespective <Jewish> or Gentile.
