"As I studied the many Biblical prophecies of the last days, I found a most unusual extra-Biblical prophecy made by an Irish Catholic Bishop in the 12th Century. His name is St. Malachy. According to his biographer St. Bernard of Clairvaux, in his book Life of St. Malachy, St. Malachy was known to have the gift of prophecy and even predicted the exact day and hour of his own death. St Malachy was canonized in 1190 by Pope Clement 111.According to his biographer, St. Malachy visited Rome in 1139 when he went into a trance and received a vision. Malachy wrote down this extraordinary vision in which he claims to have foreseen all the Popes from the death of Innocent 11 until the destruction of the Church and the return of Christ. He named exactly 112 Popes from that time until the end.St. Malachy wrote a few prophetically descriptive words in Latin about each one of the Popes. He then gave the manuscript to Pope Innocent 11 and it was deposited in the Vatican Archives where it was forgotten for several centuries. Then in 1590, it was rediscovered and published. The interesting thing is that scholars have matched 110 descriptive predictions with each of the 110 Popes and anti-Popes that there have been since Innocent 11. Though they are a bit obscure, they have fit the general profile of each of the Popes. Here are a few examples:pope No. 108 - Paul V1 (1968-78). The prophecy for the 108th Pope was "Flos Florum," which means, 'Flower of flowers.' Paul's V1's coat of arms contained three fleurs-de-lis (Isis blossoms).Pope No. 109 - John Paul 1 (1978). The prophecy for the 109th Pope was "De Medietate Lunae," which means, 'the half moon.' John Paul 1 was born in the diocese of Belluno (beautiful moon) and was baptized by Albino Luciani (white light). He became Pope when there was a half moon (August 26,1978). He died the next month after an eclipse of the moon.Pope No. 110 - John Paul 11 (1978-2005). The prophecy for the 110th Pope was "De Labore Solis" which means, 'from the labor of the sun.' John Paul 11 was born during an eclipse of the sun on May 8,1920. As the sun rises in the east, so he came to the Vatican from the east. Wherever on earth the sun shines, he visited.Pope John Paul 11 was aware of these prophecies and at least once referred to them with concern. But, it is the prophecy of the 112th and last Pope that is fascinating. St. Malachy predicts, "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign 'Petrus Romanus' (Peter the Roman) who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful judge will judge the people."Jesus is coming back as the Judge of all men.The Pre and Post Reformers studied Daniel and Revelation and pointed to the office of the Papacy as "The Antichrist" and "The Son of Perdition." These included, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley,John Wyclif, William Tyndale, King James,John Knox, Philipp Melancthon and Huldreich Zwingli."Antichrist," also means, "False Christ." I have statements by the Catholic Church calling the Pope "God on earth," and "Jesus Christ behind the veil of flesh."Please refer to "Daniel and Revelation Reveal The Antichrist," for Scriptures.

yeah Ive been talking about these prophecies for about a year and a half and it is amazing how accurate each of these prophecies are, as you can see on the post above. This gets interesting as pope benedict the 16th is supposed to be the last true pope until the last pope of all time who is titled Petrus Romanus. according to St. Malachy "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End."now I do not know if I take take these prophecies to mean something, I know there isn't a Peter the roman in my bible. It might just be catholic nonsense ( and like with every other denomination theres a lot of it out there) but the end time is closer than we think.your brother in christRyan Fitz

I won't say that I am using this to directly comment on the Catholic Church, so please no one misconstrue what I am about to say. However, the Song of Moses immediately came to mind:
Deuteronomy 32:30-31How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. ...Deuteronomy 32:37And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
Petras meaning 'rock' -- of course we are the taken to the passage that the Catholic Church (and all Churches, really) use to say Christ founded his Church on Peter whose name Petras meant rock. However, Petras means movable rock, like a pebble, stone, or boulder. Christ is immovable, and this is the rock he spoke about. There will be two rocks, and one will be false. I would think of this as the Roman Rock (again, not necessarily Papal Rome). The curious thing is, many cultures portray 2012 as the end; this prophecy gives us a similar time frame dependent upon Pope Benedict's lifespan. So the question is - what does this all mean? I'll let you answer it, but the clues are scattered throughout Revelation, Daniel, and certainly elsewhere!

He named exactly 112 Popes . . . But, it is the prophecy of the 112th and last Pope that is fascinating. St. Malachy predicts, "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign 'Petrus Romanus' (Peter the Roman) who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful judge will judge the people."Jesus is coming back as the Judge of all men.

Technically speaking, I prefer to think of Christ Himself as the 113th, but that's just me.

This is my first post here, and I am using this topic as something of an introduction, as we more than just share the commonality of interest in "Peter the Roman".

Greetings in the Resurrected Christ! If we keep our patience, we can have meaningful conversation.

To All,

For all the clamor, I find absolutely nothing in either Daniel or Revelation regarding any religious aspect, -- including Islam or the Catholic Church. Certainly many misinterpret various texts, and others have agendas, but as to any evidence, -- I find none.

So in this spirit I would propose that where Walvoord correctly assessed that the book of Daniel is "... the key to prophetic revelation", I would suggest that someone provide their assertion from that text, and then proceed to the book of Revelation.

Fair enough? :)

One can draw those books away from religion if one doesn't hold to the stern that in all of the Old Testament there are only 8 occurences of "Christ", Daniel being the only book in the OT which has 2 occurences.

And Revelation contains a warning not to add nor detract - Revelation should only be read.

...

Actually there are zero in Daniel. The text is NOT messianic:

Lev 4:3 If the priest [sup]3548[/sup] that is anointed[sup]4899[/sup] do sin [sup]2398[/sup] according to the sin [sup]819[/sup] of the people [sup]5971[/sup]; then let him bring [sup]7126[/sup] for his sin [sup]2403[/sup], which he hath sinned [sup]2398[/sup]

These references belong to two others, -- one after the seven; and the second after the sixty-two:

[sup]25[/sup]Know therefore and understand: from the time that the word went out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the time of an anointed prince, there shall be seven weeks; and for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with streets and moat, but in a troubled time. [sup]26[/sup]After the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing, ...

The first Catholic Holy Bible printed in English contains 2 occurences of "Christ" in the Book of Daniel.

The Original Text does not support that premise, and History denies it.

As such, please find the TWO individuals it does apply to.

For Reference:

As provided in the Topic "How Close Is The Seven Year Tribulation", pg. 5, Post #139,

1. Daniel 9:2 specifies "years".

2.
Daniel 9:2 does not use the simple shama to perceive the prophecy of Jeremiah as though reading that book, but rather the Soloman biyn to perceive the prophecy in the BOOKS.

3.
The Daniel 9:25 "going forth of the word" does NOT have the inference of any edict from man, but rather and edict directly from GOD.

4. The
Daniel 9:25 seven is one duration with an anointed one "coming" after that duration.

5. The
Daniel:25-26 sixty-two weeks is a second duration with a second anointed one who is cut off after that duration.

6. The "weeks"/"week" are the inconcise Masculine gender text, which are specifically NOT 490 years.

7. The second anointed one who is cut off is not killed upon the sixty-two, but simply AFTER.

8. The destroyer does not come at the beginning, middle, or upon the end of the seventieth shabuwa, but "shall come" after the seventieth shabuwa.

9. The seven, the sixty-two, the seventieth, and after the seventieth are chronologically connected, with NO ~2,000 year gaps.

10. This prophecy is shut up and sealed until the time of the end, which is approximate to 1948.

The Douay-Rheims translation is the original text in English. Christ said, "The heavens shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." This is open admission of the importance of Christ's mission accomplished (not only prophecied). The Holy Bible thus serves as not only a prophetic book, but as a historical one, as well.

It was a sad time in Church history when the Roman Church treated the Reformers as 'the Antichrist' while the Reformers treated the office of the pope as 'the Antichrist'. Neither one of them were correct. Yet there appears to be some in the Church that still want to be blinded by those claims.
