Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered, “You are mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 In the resurrection, people will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead they will be like the angels of heaven."

I cannot find this quote, which expressly states that people will not marry, in the 66 books of the bible. I checked my NIV and NKJV and there was no footnote, strangely. Where did it come from and could it have been quoted from 1 Enoch? Jesus tells them they are mistaken for NOT understanding the scriptures, but which scriptures did Jesus have in mind when He told them about how things would be in future heaven with regard to marriage?

Below, there is no mention by any of these theologians where these scriptures of authority on the matter are to be found (I've read through them) and no mention is made of Jesus' source in the OT:

Matthew 22:29 - But Jesus answered... - Verse-by-Verse Commentary
Matthew 22:30 -

So let's see if it's true. So far I've found this verse which speaks on the matter—
http://scriptural-truth.com/images/BookOfEnoch.pdf

1 Enoch 51:4 And in those days the mountains will leap like rams, and the hills will skip like lambs satisfied with milk, and all will become Angels in Heaven.

So, is 1 Enoch canonical for this present day? Why or why not. I could be totally off-base in all this and I admit as much. I think it's worth exploring if anyone has any insight that'd be great. Anyone who's read 1 Enoch let us know what your thoughts are. I'm undecided. Probably not, but I'm open to suggestions.

God bless,

I always thought that people are people and angels are angels and when we pass away and 'go to heaven' we do not become angels as they are a separate species of being.

I don't think it belongs in the canon.

If it did, it would already be included as a 67th book in the Bible.

I read Enoch once in awhile. It has taught me a few things and has brought some other into focus. Some of it seems kinda weird but I wouldn't expect the other realms he talks about to be like here. So I take what I can, providing it doesn't contradict the bible, and leave the rest. I wouldn't want children or young believers to get into it. There is a place, I don't recall where, that God graphically describes pedophilia and His intense hatred of it. There is also a scene where there are 2 beings, the Head Of Days and The Son Of Man. I think this is self-explanatory. When Enoch goes on about the Watchers, I have no trouble believing he's a prophet. I felt led to it and I'll leave it at that. Peace.

Jesus didn't claim to be quoting from the scriptures.

Addressing the OP only,
there would be no need to marry in an eternal body with eternal life. we will be like the angels in heaven? but doing what here on Earth? as it is in heaven.
Psalms 103:19 "The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all."
Psalms 103:20 "Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word."
Psalms 103:21 "Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure."

other words we will be like the angels heaven doing God will.

and two, there is no such thing as a book of Enoch for God's point of view. the bible never say that Enoch wrote a book that is written. Jude 1:14 "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,"

there are many prophecies of prophets that are not put in a book under their nanes?

but the thing called the book of Enoch today have been disprove.

a good watch on this is, "The Case Against the Book of Enoch"

PS I don't endorse the whole video, only the part where t deals directly with the disproving of the book itself. and nothing else.

"A new commandment I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." One thing I'm sure of is that doctrine will never unite us. This is proven by the fact that there are around 30,000 denominations worldwide. There is one God, one Israel, one body and one bride. And there is one day when the Mighty One of Israel will make this a reality. Peace. P.S. One of the first things I've noticed here at Christianity Board is the diversity of thought and viewpoint. I like this.
