HammerStone:
I'm trying hard to imagine a world where I'm not married to my wife.
Luk 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them,
The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
Luk 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Luk 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
I would not just get ready to Chuck the wife once you get your new shiny Body. We make a assumption that by these scriptures we are not married in Heaven. Jesus did not say that. Jesus said you will not be given in marriage or marry in Heaven. Which means we do not make covenants with someone else to serve them and be their partner. We focus on God, and the things he has.
This still does not mean we divorce in Heaven. Jesus did not say anything about getting rid of anyone, or breaking that marriage covenant. The wife that served God with you now,
MAY still be in the plans to continue with you. We do have things to do 1,000 years while Jesus is on earth.
Now, what if we had been unstable in life, and had several wives?
Jesus said.
Joh 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
Joh 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
Jesus called each person this women married a Husband. Jesus considered all five husbands as valid, but did not consider being shacked up as valid. So, the last one married to would be the valid one.
That is just one thing to consider..............
We just can not say that we loose a wife though, we are just told we will not Marry once we are there.
We are one flesh with a wife, but our flesh changes to something better. Does this mean we are no longer one flesh if that new flesh is not covenanted together in marriage?
One thing is sure, we get mansions, and sharing that mansion with your wife would not be a issue, as she will be there and you will know her. I just think we don't need to make assumptions, as we are never told that our current spouse will not be part of the picture latter.
Jesus Is Lord.
