Do you think the EC should be amended, abolished or is it acceptable the way it is?

Personally, I'm not sure how to answer the question, hence the reason why I'm asking.

I'm not American, even.

But going back to the 18th century, it was smaller states such as New Jersey and Connecticut that were concerned that the larger states would dominate the others if balancing mechanisms were not worked out.

Hence the Senate with 2 members from each state, irrespective of size.

Hence the electoral college. If there were no electoral college, what would happen would be certain: the candidates would simply spend most of their time in a few of the biggest states.
