The Son is called God in Hebrews 1:8-9 (kjv).

Not necessarily. Jesus is uniquely the Son of God; and He can be both God and Man because with God, nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).

The Most High can in fact be tempted; just not with evil (James 1:13).

Moses and angels are called elohim, do you think they are the Most High?

no, you can not be both. if Jesus is the Most High that makes Him nothing like the rest of us because we are NOT the Most High. how are not seeing this problem?

sin is evil, do you think Satan was tempting Jesus with holiness?

They are one with the Most High; having the fulness of His Spirit, each and every one (John 3:34, 1 Corinthians 6:17, Ephesians 3:19-20).

Also, where is Moses called an elohim?

no, you can not be both. if Jesus is the Most High that makes Him nothing like the rest of us because we are NOT the Most High. how are not seeing this problem?

Jesus is distinct from us who believe in Him in that He was born of a virgin and it was the Holy Ghost who became one with the virgin's egg in her womb (Luke 1:35).

He is like the rest of us in that He is human...nevertheless He is the Most High.

sin is evil, do you think Satan was tempting Jesus with holiness?

Jesus was tempted in His humanity as concerning sin; not in His Deity. If He was tempted in His Deity in any regard, it was not with evil.

If one was to take from scripture only what scripture reveals and no assumptions added, one would still end up with three Divine persons... That one would call those three a Trinity is one of those assumptions,I prefer Godhead.... That those three Divine persons somehow comprise the one God is also scriptural, for each one is clearly Divine yet we are told there is but one God.
The problem we have is not with the above apparent contradiction, but with our finite feeble sin affected fallen minds attempting to define what God has not revealed. We try to explain how those three can be one... And we cannot explain it. No-one can. And God doesn't expect us to.
"The first step of apostasy is to get up a creed, telling us what we shall believe. The second is, to make that creed a test of fellowship. The third is to try members by that creed. The fourth to denounce as heretics those who do not believe that creed. And fifth, to commence persecution against such.”

Clearly I am not making a judgment of my own to agree with Jesus' words when He said that if anyone does not believe that He is the great I AM, they will die in their sins.

Jesus made that statement. People may want to dispute the plain meaning of that statement but I believe it as He said it.
I know the meaning to you seems clear and perhaps it does to some others as well who have drawn different conclusions as well... but on this very forum we have seen people discussing or arguing or debating about the meaning of those words, "I AM". We, not knowing the understanding of all the other hearts, cannot know what other men understand or believe about them. We cannot know what they conclude from them... unless of course God has given us a personal revelation about the heart or hearts of any one who is in a different place on that point... be it correct or be it incorrect in the eyes of God.

So then, as for me, I will believe in the Deity of Christ and will warn anyone who will listen that if they will not also believe in the Deity of Christ, they will die in their sins; just as Jesus said.
We can only follow our heart and hopefully what God directs in this and anything else.

Of course, He will be their judge if they reject this testimony.
So then as you disagree and are led by the Lord to discuss, argue or debate the point do so...

But I know that it is my job to relate the holy scriptures and what I believe them to be saying.

If anyone decides to reject my testimony, I know that their blood is no longer on my head because I have warned them from the Holy Spirit.
I would only suggest that you very careful in how you warn them. Very often perhaps they, [the ones who disagree] will be equally certain that their own testimony is the one that should not be rejected by you.

Following ones heart is not good advice. Its why the bible declare to love God with ALL your MIND, heart and soul. The heart is not to be trusted on its own.

Genesis 8:21
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Jeremiah 16:12
And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

Ecclesiastes 9:3
This is an evil in everything that is done under the sun: There is one fate for everyone. Furthermore, the hearts of men are full of evil and madness while they are alive, and afterward they join the dead.

Mark 7:21
For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

Romans 1:21
For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts.

hope this helps !!!

It's amazing how christian, (only Some), question our Lord's deity. JESUS is God in flesh diversified. many say they need proof... ok, lets bring it home right now today. if you think that the Lord Jesus is just a man like YOU and I, then transfigure yourself, as he did on the mountian top. just let me know when you're going on a mountian top so I can get my Shady Rays, or sunglasses on before you transfigure yourself. it's just that simple.

so the proof is in anyone's test. if you think that the Lord Jesus is just a man like you and I, then Just tranfigure yourself. and if you cannot.... :D then you should know your ... own answer.

Remember, Don't argue with 101G, argue with the scriptures, God Holy Word.

I certainly agree that following our unchanged self-led heart alone is not good advice. However, when and if our heart is led by the Holy Spirit, we will not go wrong! The problem with every person who has not yet completely overcome the world as Jesus did, is that even if they have received the Holy Spirit, they too frequently quench the Spirit and take hold again of their own reins and of course then in their blindness make wrong turns and fall into ditches.

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." Jerem 10:23

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Rom 8:1

"Quench not the Spirit." I Thess 5:19

Jesus was tempted in His humanity as concerning sin; not in His Deity. If He was tempted in His Deity in any regard, it was not with evil.

that would mean Jesus is 50/50, half Most High and half man, and the half that was man got tempted. not what the trinity says, trinity says all or nothing.
on a side note, this part of the doctrine was one of the bigger problems, it took 600 years of hit and miss for man to finally come up with a doctrine to correct the doctrine.

if a doctrine takes 600 years of adjusting and after all that you still have to burn people alive to make them accept it, thats a pretty big red flag.

Lets look at "definitions".

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
here "God" is H430 אֱלֹהִים 'elohiym (el-o-heem') n-m.
אֱלֹהֵי 'elohiy (el-o-hee') [alternate plural]
1. (literally) supreme ones.
2. (hence, in the ordinary sense) gods.
3. (specifically, in the plural, especially with the article) the Supreme God (i.e. the all supreme).
4. (sometimes) supreme, used as a superlative.
5. (occasionally, by way of deference) supreme magistrates, the highest magistrates of the land.
6. (also) the supreme angels (entities of unspecified type).
[plural of H433]
KJV: angels, X exceeding, God (gods)(-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.
Root(s): H433
Compare: H5945, H7706, H8199, H4397

lets zero in on definition #3. (specifically, in the plural, especially with the article) notice what the definition states, in the plural , especially with the article. so do we see the article here in Genesis 1:1? YES, "The" beginning. but is this plurality manifested at Genesis 1:1? NO. this has been the sticking for a long time. and here's why, Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:" "ONE", here is the Hebrew word,
H259 אֶחָד 'echad (ech-awd') adj.
1. (properly) united, i.e. one.
2. (as an ordinal) first.
[a numeral from H258]
KJV: a, alike, alone, altogether, and, any(-thing), apiece, a certain, (dai-)ly, each (one), + eleven, every, few, first, + highway, a man, once, one, only, other, some, together.
Root(s): H258

BINGO, God is ONE "LORD", not one God, and this is where those who believe in a three God make their mistake. the verse didn't say that God is an ECHAD, but that God is one/Echad "LORD". THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND GENESIS 1:26 AND 27.

so At Genesis 1:1, and at 1:26, God is ONE "LORD". which is bared out in Genesis 1:27.

so the term God is a plurality of "ONE" LORD, and "ONE" Lord.... to come. supportive scripture, Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." HOLD IT, how can God say, "us", and "our", when in fact Deuteronomy 6:4 states, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:". and if only the LORD is present at Genesis 1:26 hoe can God say "us", and "our?". answer, Romans 5:14 "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come."
was to come? meaning he had not yet come at Genesis 1:26, and Genesis 1:27 confirm this by the single desigination of "his" and "he".

so God is a plurality in that which was to Come, and he came, or MANIFESTED at John 1:1.

Another fallacious argument. Scripture declares the Son is God in numerous places in both testaments.

no trinitarians deny Jesus is a man and as a man was limited.

Just because you deny and cannot wrap your head around His Deity does not make it untrue. The fact is Scripture calls Him God in many places but since you cannot read scripture with an OPEN mind and must read it through the glasses of a unitarian makes your view biased. On the other hand I believe scripture when it calls Jesus God and man which you are FORCED to deny because of your denomination, religion, indoctrination etc..........

hope this helps !!!

@marks

This is from Christianity.com

All Christians believe the doctrine of the Trinity. If you do not believe this—that is, if you have come to a settled conclusion that the doctrine of the Trinity is not true—you are not a Christian at all. You are in fact a heretic. Those words may sound harsh, but they represent the judgment of the Christian church across the centuries. What is the Trinity? Christians in every land unite in proclaiming that our God eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Those who deny that truth place themselves outside the pale of Christian orthodoxy.

We believe in one living and true God who is the Creator of heaven and earth; who is eternal, almighty, unchangeable, infinitely powerful, wise, just and holy.

We believe that the one God eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, co-equal and co-eternal, having precisely the same nature and attributes, and worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence, and obedience. Matthew 3:16, 17; Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3, 4; II Corinthians 13:14.

This doctrine unites all true Christians and separates us from those who are not Christian. You may believe and still not be a Christian, but if you deny this doctrine in your heart, you are not a Christian at all.

Do you agree with the above ?

Why or why not ?

hope this helps !!!

NO!
The Gospel can be explained in one sentence: That Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day according to the scriptures. Jesus said if you believe in Me you will be saved. He didn't say you must also grasp all the doctrines of the Bible, including the doctrine of the Trinity - one of the most difficult doctrines. Jesus did not expect us even to grasp His equality with God then and even now people find it difficult.
I am a Trinitarian, but I have been a Christian for 29 years, have done much study, listened to over a thousand sermons. The Holy Spirit has grown my spirit, knowledge and understanding.
But about when I was a new believer? I didn't grasp much, but nevertheless, God drew me to Himself, lifted the veil so I could see. I didn't understand the complicated doctrines. I didn't even accept the OT stories yet, I started with the NT, read it and believed on a very basic level. I was born again from above and therefore a Christian, an infant needing milk, but still a Christian. I could have died a minute after I received Christ - not understanding much. He would fill in the details when I got there. When we all arrive in heaven, we will be corrected concerning many doctrines. There are 100 million non-trinitarian Christians. Has God voided their love for Christ? No. False doctrine, mental blocks will impede your growth, but it doesn't mean your faith is invalid. Some have weak faith.
How much do you have to know to be saved? Apparently you are drawing God's line. Jesus said believe in Me! A child can. Ask that child to explain the Trinity. He may repeatnwhat he has heard: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, all are one, but does he really grasp it?
Now the Bible says to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was baptized as the Holy Spirit descended like a dove as the Father spoke from heaven. Three persons, one God.
We don't have a grasp of the Spiritual realm. We don't have a grasp of omniscience, omnipresence or omnipotence, we are just informed that God is all mighty in these ways.
It takes years and so don't disqualify someone you don't know, especially someone whom God is working with.

so can a person who denies the deity of Christ and the Trinity who has studied the bible in depth be saved ?

well we will never agree on this for sure.

I have never known any protestant Trinitarian theologian, pastor, teacher, elder or any serious student of Scripture who is a Protestant or Catholic who disagrees with me on this issue.

hope this helps !!!

God said, "LEARN of ME". I question "NOT" anyone's salvation, ONLY GOD CAN SAVE. but how can one believe in a "LIE", and be in christ Jesus?. I agree, "believe and be baptize ye ... "shall", shall, ahall, be saved. so a child can not explain some thing, but as we grow we "LEARN" many things. 1 Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

now as for doctrine, Isaiah 28:9 "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts." BINGO.

1 Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:"1 Peter 2:3 "If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious."

one cannot stay a baby all of their life, one has to GROW ... UP. and in growing, one "LEARN". and in that GROWING, one learn to discern Good from Evil.

and while in the growing stage, sin should be a none existence matter of the mind of the christian, scripture, 1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"

so as a "CHILD" one is covered by the advocate. but, Galatians 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."Galatians 4:7 "Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

and his sons obey his voice because they are taught by him, the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:13 "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

now as for knowing the doctrine of the Godhead, yes one can KNOW, scripture, Romans 1:19 "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them."Romans 1:20 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"

anytime some say, "it's a mystery, then I suggest one get the right teacher... the Holy Ghost, because as the scripture states, one is "without Excuse", because we can KNOW... and YES, understand the Godhead. Go to God and ASK HIM.

@Christophany
Very well said RDB! I don't agree with trinitarianism whatsoever, and if I had to make a decision at this point, I would say that one cannot be saved believing in the trinity, because I believe that there is no efficacy in God propitiating Himself, nor can He be tempted or die, nor is there any point in Him raising Himself from the dead in order to sit by His own right-hand side. I trust that you can appreciate my contentions.

But, my question at this point, in regard to what you said about not requiring full theological acumen to be saved, in your mind, are there any parameters at all that are necessary to be saved ie. what is the minimal understanding that one must have in order to attain salvation?
Thanks!

I added to my previous post :)

BTW I have friends who are Theologians, Authors, Pastors etc..... who I'm personal friends with jane. So I'm not making this up and wanted to let you know that.
I am not sure how this applies.

When I am studying God’s Truth, I look to Him for answers and His thoughts. No other.

When I am learning about what you believe, I ask you and your thoughts. No other.
