I'm a bit of a skeptic, but...

There are several organizations who report that May 21 2011 will be the Day of Judgement when Jesus returns to Earth for the Rapture. I'm not completely sold on the idea, but am curious to get YOUR input.

This is my favorite of all these sites, because the blogger stays current and talks about things currently going on in the world, and how they relate to Judgement Day 2011. At the same time, the blogger seems a tad nutty ;-).

What are your thoughts on the date, and on this site? Post it on facebook for your friends to give insight too! Thanks for your help!

I am completely convinced that the rapture will not happen on May 21, 2011. Now as a believer of the pre-tribulation rapture, I do believe that the rapture will have very, very, very soon, and yes I do look for it to happen before the end of the year, but just not on May 21, 2011.

I do have my own personal opinions on when it will occur, but we will see.

I will say this.....

The chance of Jesus returning on May 21st is just as plausible as on all the other days between today and the day he returns.

A statement like that could get me elected to office!

No, the end won't be before the next 31/2 years. You see the temple must be rebuilt first. Until the temple is rebuilt Christ will not return.

The simple fact is that we will not know the day or hour that Christ returns. The Bible says it emphatically and repeatedly, so therefore anyone claiming otherwise is just begging to be made a fool of.

The very interesting thing about all the people of the years of history that have claimed to know that date...that hour? The only thing they have in common is that they were all wrong....every single one. So don't be sucked in by them...they too will be wrong.

This doesn't mean we don't look for our Saviors return, we just do it patiently. If we are truly looking for Him every single day, we won't be taken in suprise, like a thief in the night. When we are expecting our Lord at any moment, and He comes, we'll be "oh, of course!"

We can't know the day nor hour, but we can know the season. Tis the season.

Things certainly seem to be heating up, dont' they? I would say they probably thought the same thing during any number of previous world events; world war 1 &2, chernoybl etc. But the thing I think makes today different is the fact that Israel is a nation again...it kind of changes the playing field, don't you think?

All true, and I in no way expect that Jesus will return in my lifetime, although it would be very cool! But Jesus does also mention these things to us:

[The Lesson of the Fig Tree]
[29] And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. [30] As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. [31] So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
(Luke 21:29-31 ESV)

Now, I'm not saying that the 'fig tree' is the nation of Israel...it might be, but just as much might not be. But it is clear that Jesus is implying that we can have some understanding in regards to the lateness of the hour by the happens of our world.

[6] And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. [8] All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
(Matthew 24:6-8 ESV)

He tells us that these things are like birth pains. And let me tell you, as one who has experianced such pains, that while they start off not to bad, as they go along they become harder, more painful, until they are on top of each other...no break. So we can expect these things...earthquakes and such, to keep coming, more frequently, with more destruction.

[28] Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
(Luke 21:28 ESV)

I don't believe in date setting, but I do watch the world. The Lord tells us not to seek signs, but to look for His coming.By watching these things that Jesus talk about come closer and closer together, we will, I believe, be like the servant who was prepared for his masters return, whenever that may be.
I can be a tricky thing to expect His coming soon, but to wait patiently as well. Too often people date set, which is wrong, but I believe that ignoring it and denying it is just as wrong.
Besides, don't you love the thought that Jesus could be back, even this afternoon? I love living with that idea, and I'm never disapointed when that day passes, because I know one day He will return, and on that day I'll still be expecting HIm!

I'm thinking it will be closer to June 15 at 6:30 pm central.

:D
I have some exams on June 13, at 2pm. How about then? Then would be good!!

I didn't go to the site but will comment on the date of May 21. This date was given to me too through His Scriptures. However, it isn't Judgement Day nor is it a day of rapture. Rather I understand it to be the day the tribulation begins...not only the tribulation of Satan but the time God's "latter rain" will pour on His elect. The date is taken from the time given in the story of Noah. I don't know why others see it as being in 2011 but...I agree with them, again...from Scriptures.

Aspen,

Something in your comment struck me.

"Wars and rumors of wars", "Earthquakes" all meant be watchful because it could be anytime! All these things have been daily events since the beginning of time and will be so until the end.

Please don't place the building of a literal temple as having any relevance to His return for....the Temple stands today....

John 2:19-21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But He spake of the temple of His body.

We are the One Body of Christ...we are His temple.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Ephesians 2:20-22 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Whirlwind,

The temple that Butch was referring to was the 'Tribulational Temple' in which the the Abomination of Desolation occurs.

Dan 9:27 [sup]27[/sup] He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
[font="'Charis SIL"]

[font="'Charis SIL"]This is the same Abomination of Desolation that Jesus spoke of.[/font]

[font="'Charis SIL"]Matt 24:15 [sup]15[/sup] “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[sup][a][/sup] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—[/font]

There are several prophecies that are yet to take place before Christ's return.

He is indeed coming quickly, and we will likely be able to sense when the time is very close...but I can say with confidence that an awful lot would need to happen between now and May 21st in order for that date to be correct.
