Worldly wealth is pertaining to this world as compared to things of heaven or spiritual wealth. When we speak of worldly wealth, we are not just talking about the corrupt world and non-believers. Many can claim to be Christian or believers in the almighty God, but do they crave for spiritual enlightenment, or for things of the world. Even preachers and teachers of the Word are affected by worldly things. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (II Peter 2:3). These false prophets in their greed will tell you anything to get a hold of your money, but their destruction is on the way. As for the world in general; the corruption, the scams, the corporate price gouging, the lack of quality workmanship, the lust for money and material things, is rising out of control. The importance of spiritual wealth over material wealth is just not instilled in our world today. Lets go to the scriptures and see what our Heavenly Father thinks about worldly wealth and things of the world. He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. (Ecclesiastes 5:10). One who loves money will never have enough, because you can never satisfy greed. Only a fool thinks that wealth brings happiness! When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? (Ecclesiastes 5:11). The more money you have the more you spend, right to the limits of your income. So what is the advantage of wealth, except to watch it run through your fingers. Remember that you can't take it with you when you die, and the greedy ones that do; it won't do them any good. The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. (Ecclesiastes 5:12). The man who works hard sleeps well weather he eats little or much, but the rich and greedy always worry about wealth and many times suffer insomnia. The next few verses goes on to tell us to beware of investing in risky investments turn sour. Greed and speculation will put you right back where you started with nothing. Many people today are always worrying about getting ahead and wishing for what they do not have. Real life and living are not related to how much we have or how rich we are. Spiritual wealth is much more important, and is the only thing that will make a difference when we die. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. (Luke 12:21). Again, one is just a fool who gets rich on earth but not in heaven. Our righteous acts are the only thing we can take with us. (Revelation 19:8). And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. (Luke 12:22). We do not need to worry about having enough food to eat or clothes to wear. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. (Luke 12:23). Life consists of far more than food, clothes and material things. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? (Luke 12:24). Look at the ravens; they don't need to plant, have barns and store away their food, and they get by alright. God feeds them and gives them what they need... How much more will He care about you and give you what you need. You are far more important to Him than birds. Now in the Epistles of Saint John, he gets right down to where the rubber meets the road. Love the things of man and the world, and your just a hypocrite if you claim to be a Christian or believer in the almighty God. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (I John 2:15). There it is... Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you. When you love these things it shows that you do not really love God. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (I John 2:16). All these worldly things; evil desires, sexual perversion, ambition to buy everything that appeals to you, and the pride that comes from wealth and importance. All these things are not from God, but rather from this evil world itself. To end our study on worldly wealth we will go to the book of Matthew. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Matthew 6:19). Don't worry about storing up treasures on earth where they can erode away or be stolen. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:20). Store your treasures in Heaven in the form of good works where they will never lose their value, and will be safe from thieves. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21). If your profits are in Heaven your heart will be there too. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:24). You can't serve two masters: God and money! You will hate one and love the other, or else the other way around. WHERE IS YOUR WEALTH?

Wonderful post there Kriss, I love it...not to mention, this bible verse(s) will do.I Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.Proverbs 8:10 - Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.Lovest thou in Christ Jesus (Yahshua) our Lord and Saviour.

Having been dirt poor at one point in my life, I can tell you that having enough money to live is far better. Did I serve God at both times in my life (with money or without), yes. But the experience of being poor, motivated me to work hard & make a better life for myself.I think a solid work ethic is godly. It allows us to provide for ourselves & have extra money to help others. So wealth (although I'm not wealthy) isn't innately ungodly. It rather depends on your attitude & what you do with your money.

I totally agree that spiritual wealth is what should really matter rather than "mortal" wealth but I want to go into the scriptures about wealthIn reference to money, Jesus was angry at those who turned God church into a "den of thieves"In another scripture, he explains that the woman who gave 2 cents was greater than the man who gave hundreds or even thousands of dollars (number of dollars is not my point) because the woman gave all she had and the man only gave a little of his wealthhow much money you have doesn't make you rich in God's eyes nor does money matter to Godwhere your heart is when you give to god is what matters because if you're not giving with your whole heart to God, your giving is in vein.and finally it is better to have wisdom (as Solomon wanted rather than money) because that is something that the world can't give you.
