Update: we have discharged on 31th May.
Dear friends, I want to share a prayer request here.
If you have books or your ministry’s resources, or if your friends want to translate their books into an Asian language (Burmese), I can help you with the translation and publishing.
As a missionary pastor, I am self-supporting through the translation project. I have translated numerous books, articles, and transcriptions. I honestly have no outside support monthly.
I want to highlight about me in short: I was under animism until the missionary came to our village (our community) in 1994. Subsequently, we became Christians—almost the whole community—and the missionary took it upon himself to teach the children like me in the village. At that time, the government didn’t provide school to us. And our forefathers, both my parents, are illiterate and could not even write or read a single letter. Christianity brought light to the entire community—not only redemption from eternal punishment but also light to the community. Our eyes were opened; young people saw the importance of going to school and learning languages. In short, when I was in class 10, I made a commitment to the Lord that I would serve Him when I finished my 10th grade.
I came down to Yangon, where I am living now, from the place where I originated, leaving my family and relatives from Chin State to study the Bible. When I saw many people were under the devil that they worship. I prayed myself that I wanted to serve here. I did my B.Th., then entered the church as a clerk and Sunday School teacher for a year. And I studied M.Div., then re-entered the church planting ministry as an assistant pastor. The Lord spoke to me in Rev. 21:6, and I started the ministry with self-supporting from the translation.
Before the military coup in 2021 and before COVID-19 in 2020, I was working in a marketing company as a part-time translator.
As my passion is to serve the people who are in darkness, evangelize, share the Good News, and also help the vulnerable children who are orphans. I have 4 orphans with us. I was preaching to churches as a guest speaker and conducting Bible seminars, and some young people’s lives have changed, and I heard that they are also now in Bible college, dedicating themselves to God. I was so much happier. I also have described my past work on the ministry website.
After COVID, I lost my job as part-time was no more available, and after the military coup in 2021, we started to stumble. I rent a house, and our ministry is home-based, but the depression has increased under the military rule. After the conscription law was imposed, requiring all males to serve in the military, we were forced to flee somewhere with a lower risk. I used to save my small translation income for emergencies. On 10 January 2025, the military in our village announced that all households must keep a copy for members living at home, and when they came that night, some of our neighbors were taken by force, and one young man’s dad even died from shock. When we learned all the risks of living there, we suddenly tried to move to another place where we spent all we had and borrowed money (equal to $4,000) to have a piece of land and dwell safely there.
We now stay in a remote open field, making a house with bamboo. We have home service along with the four orphans and those who could come to us—just a few believers. When we relocated to a new place, we borrowed the money equal to $4,000 and used all our savings to get a piece of land.
We should be happily working for Him, but we have come to a situation of many challenges. We are now in a situation of health crisis, as you pray for us. We have spent a lot of money. We have been discharged from the hospital, but we still need to go for checkups at the hospital frequently. As we live remotely, we need to hire a taxi to get to the hospital at 70,000 MMK, equal to $20. We need to take Neuroimaging (MRI), which would cost 1,000,000 MMK (equal to $250) within the next week. We have 3 appointments to see the doctor, which means we have to pay for 3 trips only in the next week. I have to look after my orphan kids for schooling and food.
I have had good projects in the past, but my freelance translation job is not stable, or there is no project yet this year, and I have no income. Upon this, the expenses are higher, so also the hospital bills are so expensive. I have a lot of tension as a father and as a leading pastor of this small ministry. I am praying about how I should go on and how I am going to manage ourselves. As I first mentioned, I need a translation job, and I would appreciate it if you could help me find the offer. I am praying I can have some work, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could help. I can offer the best service I can. I can send you my promotion service (resume posted in TranslationDirectory). My service is only the Christian book translation: English – Burmese.
Also, please pray for Hannah that the Neuroimaging result will have great news.
God bless you, and please continue to pray for our baby. Thank you so much for your prayers.
Blessings,
Mei
