Is it a sin to be afraid?
no

Jesus feared what He was to suffer and so much so He sweat great droplets of blood.

Therefore God tells us not to fear and empowers us with His Grace and Spirit = same as the LORD received from His FATHER

Bad news is coming, and fear is a natural response to the anticipation of it. It’s the way human persons are designed.

Most of what we fear never happens. Knowing that should help us manage our fear, but that’s not enough.

Bad news is coming, but bad news isn’t the end of the story for those who trust in Yahweh. The story ends in their good.

See Job, a type of the Messiah.

Said another way, see the Messiah prefigured in Job.

Where in the bible do we read that Jesus was afraid? I cannot think of a single time where we read that Jesus was afraid. You quote the verse that talks of Him being tempted, but it doesn't say He was afraid.

Oh, He was afraid, all right.

41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” ...44 And being in agony, He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. (Luke 22:41,44)

He was afraid - and He did what had to be done anyway. Remember that. It's okay to be afraid, because without real fear, a man cannot display the virtue of COURAGE.

The humanity of Jesus , He was "tempted in all points like we are " . Have you had a fear grip you so that you were tempted to do things of a drastic nature ? We see that Jesus PRAYED for his fear to pass , an example for us all .

Matt 26
38Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Mark 14
33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

34And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Luke 22
39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

You are correct. Sorry for being so slow to realise that what was about to befall Him must have filled Him with great dread/fear, so much greater than the fears that assault us.

“In terms of typology, Job’s suffering and his eventual restoration can be seen as a foreshadowing of Christ’s own suffering and resurrection. Just as Job’s trials lead to a deeper understanding of God, so too does Christ’s passion and victory over death reveal the fullness of God’s redemptive plan.”

“Does the story of Job make you think about the story of Jesus? Have you considered Job as a type of Christ? Job’s story teaches about suffering, obedience, and the reality of spiritual warfare. But his story is about more than its moral and spiritual lessons.

To establish why we should read Job’s story christologically, we’ll consider each of the following in turn, developing our argument:

* How Jesus read the Old Testament
* The presence of types in the Old Testament
* Considering Job’s connection to Jesus
* Conclusion

Conclusion

The previous six considerations seek to establish a cumulative case that Job is a type of Christ. Jib’s typological function is not something imposed on the passage, something absent in the text. Rather, these six facts form a compelling case that, in the fullness if biblical revelation, God designed Job’s life to correspond with and escalate toward Christ.

By seeing the righteous sufferer face accusations and ultimately vindication, we see Job’s story moves from opposition to vindication, from humiliation to dxaltation, from descent to ascent, from suffering to glory. In the canonical light of the two Testaments, Job’s story is thus part of a messianic pattern which Jesus fulfills. Job was a suffering and vindicated servant of the Lord whose life foreshadows the suffering and vindicated Servant of the Lord.”

(Mitch Chase, “Seeing Christ in Job: An Exercise in Typological Reading”)

A word of caution. The author himself observes that the NT writers don’t identify Job as a type of Christ. We should keep that in mind when considering the argument. Personally, I find the argument persuasive.
