I am not a Calvinist; but to be fair, I don't think that is their mindset.
This is what some of their "brightest" minds have taught.
One has to be pretty slow to be a calvinist
Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.

I am not a Calvinist; but to be fair, I don't think that is their mindset.
When I first entered the faith I found Isaiah 45:7.It's very encouraging to hear from someone like yourself, who hasn't put God on trial for treason. Most professing Christians reject the fact that God is sovereign over all things, including who will be saved and who will be left in their sin.
I grappled with this, when I first came to faith in the Lord. I found it difficult to accept that God didn't chose to save many of my family members and friends. But thank God, He gave me the grace to trust Him in all things. Now I know that Gods ways are infinitely higher than mine, so they are past finding out.
I no longer carry that heavy burden of worrying about my family and friends, I'm blessed to have God do all the worrying for me, so I can enjoy life.
If we simply trust the Lord in all things, we can run our race without this heavy burden on our back.
Actually John MacArthur and RC Sproul are two of my go to scholars- both Calvinists. It does not disqualify them from all knowledge of scripture. John never actually taught TULIP, nor ever mentioned he was a Calvinist until RC Sproul asked. It is just a perspective that really is centered around God's sovereignty and our predestination, clearly taught in scripture. You could not argue with them on the topic - they know a hundred times more than you ... and would think you are too slow. This is what some of their "brightest" minds have taught.

What I've observed when speaking with fellow Christians is that the power of God often fails to be fully understood. Even when God informs us of those powers in his own words.
Prophecy is a huge part of both testaments.
That prophecy exists is evidence of God doing just as he says.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
God is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end.

The Bible describes God in many ways, not just love. we can say God is angry, God is jealous, God is a God of vengeance, God is a Man of War and much more.God is Love. In my perspective I always thought of love as an act, an extention of oneself towards the good of another. So God helps and cares for us ( through acts too numerous to mention) since we are in our mother's womb, long before we are actually saved. And yes, I agree He sees the end from the beginning - which has always been my view. The doubt I have is does he love the reprobate, whom he knows is irredeemable? Now he could love them (caring for, providing for, keeping their hearts beating, physically healing them( to a certain point at which time he let's them go ( gives them over) to their debased sinful lives and to their demise. Then He sort of turns off the spigot.
Arminianism is the doctrine of devils, because it teaches that God is not all powerful, not sovereign over His creation, doesn't have the power of choice, and He is a weak liar.So you think God not only wanted Adam and Eve to sin, He MADE the sin?
And you think all the evil going on in the world is happening because God MAKES it happen?
Sounds like the calvinist brand of doctrines of devils.![]()
I'm not sure if you're just trolling or if you can't see how contradictory and hypocritical your comment is; yo say-Yeah, God is mean like that. He prevents some people from getting saved and He also allows some to think they are saved but in the end they end up being rejected by the Lord - according to doctrines of devils taught by the calvinist cult.
Just like the followers of islam, calvinists have no idea if they will be allowed in to Heaven or not.
I feels sorry for you man to hear that you've been taken captive by the devil to believe his lies and cannot break free from it.
That's too bad.
You entered at the deep end with Isaiah 45:7 it's certainly not a verse that a seeker friendly Church Minister would preach on.When I first entered the faith I found Isaiah 45:7.

Some want to believe in a God they invent. Because they can't handle what God says of himself in his own word. You entered at the deep end with Isaiah 45:7 it's certainly not a verse that a seeker friendly Church Minister would preach on.
Gods sovereignty is a stumbling block for "Christian unity". Most Christian denominations deny the doctrine of predestination and election, so their congregations never get to hear about Gods sovereignty. It's a tabu subject, just as Gods judgement is.
Gods Word tells us that many will seek out teachers, to tell them what they want to hear. As we can see thousands flock to have their ears tickled by the sleek wolves in sheep's clothing.

He causes everything that comes to pass
Calvinists believe in eternal security. TRhat means that nothing can ever cause a born again Christian to lose his salvation. We have eternal security.
Your comment exposes your ignorance and it shows that your not interested in learning about the truth of the gospel and your only motivation is to push the abominable doctrine of devils.
Matthew 8The Bible describes God in many ways, not just love. we can say God is angry, God is jealous, God is a God of vengeance, God is a Man of War and much more.
I wouldn't venture to presume that God loves (the reprobate), because God is mysterious. His ways are past finding out and His wisdom is infinitely higher than ours.
There are many things Gods has not revealed to us about Himself, I believe it's because w are not equipped to handle much of what He is hiding from us.
We wouldn't want our children to see or hear some things, as it would be very disturbing for them. Likewise, I believe God is protecting us by not revealing many things to us at this present time. I remember having a very difficult time when some unbelieving loved ones died in tragic circumstances.
I couldn't come to terms with the reality that they may have died in their sin and eternally lost.
I no longer struggle with that, as the Lord has taken my burden from me and now He's carrying it and I have peace and joy because I know that God is just and He would not do anything that is unjust. That knowledge gives me comfort. A brother reminded me that Gods children will receive the mind of Christ when we receive our glorified bodies in the life to come, and there will be no more sorrow or tears.
I personally don't feel any need to figure out and make sense of what God is doing and why He's doing it. His grace is sufficient, so all I need to do is to trust and obey.
We know that God brings the rain to the righteous and the wicked, but God also fattens the wicked up for the day of slaughter. So while it may seem that God loves the wicked from our perspective, it's not the case from Gods perspective. He has a reason and purpose for everything He does.
The command is everlasting life for the sheep of Christ alone, no one else qualifies. His sheep believe in Him, and that means they believe in God, the Father who sent Christ, the Son, to show them the way to the Father who is in Heaven.
Greasy grace? Here's a video of a greasy grace guy not accepting ALL that the Lord said in John 10:27-28
because he is a cherry picker who only accepts part of what Jesus says and ignores the rest!
